    "Officially the weekend" MC

Yahoooooo!  The long weekend is officially here!

We are supposed to be getting winds and rain from Earl, and yesterday was overcast, but, this morning clear blue sky, a gentle to generous breeze and nothing else.  Probably should turn on the weather channel and see what's up with old Earl.

I started the Secret Santa signup thread in General Chat.  Please folks, sign up soon.  Make life easy for this old broad!  I've asked the mods to sticky it for me, but not sure if they can.

Lots to remember from yesterday.....GREAT news about Bevo, at least far better than expected.  Wishing Tina an awesome weekend.  If anyone would like to send Annie a card, just email me and I'll send you her mailing address.  We've simply had far too much loss on idog recently. And, by golly, it hits me soooo hard right in the gut.  We are NOT a "normal" forum here folks, we really are a very caring community.

Wow, the campground is FULL this weekend!!  Within about 30 minutes yesterday five big units came in and I've no idea how many more came in while I was out running errands.  But, we're packed!  Visitor parking is completely full, so will rearrange vehicles in our nice big site so that Mike can park on our site when he arrives.  Most of the time, we don't see much movement in the evening, unless it is some of the long termers coming back from another camper.  Weekends are different, and last night, for the very first time, we saw the owner out a LOT on his gulf cart.  And quite late.  I wasn't hearing anything outrageous, so maybe it was just a preemptive strike.

Counting down the days to the house.......and really feeling badly for the morning gal!  She went to NH to get her husband, furniture, dogs......got to her house on Thursday and the current tennents are still there.  Not even packed yet.  Since she used a professional mover who was going to charge a $500 deposit for storage if they couldn't unload, this poor woman had to leave all her furniture and boxes in a house that someone else is living in!  And the kicker.....they won't be out until the 8th!!  So, instead of being in her own home, getting settled over the holiday weekend,   she and her husband and their dogs are stuck in a Knights Inn for the duration!  AND this gal has been living in a hotel forever!  Something like 3 1/2 months.  Finding rental houses here is NOT easy and when you find one, you just wait to get in......but this is ridiculous.  I'm soooo thankful that ours has no one living in it and the only hold up is the owners coming up from DC to get their furniture out, cleaning done and yard sale over with!

Here's hoping for a great day for everyone and an even better weekend!  Stay safe out there!

Yay weekend! Well, mine doesn't start until about 1pm. I have a whole 46.5 hours with no work. One person canceled for this afternoon. I used to have more hours with the person I will be seeing shortly, but I've finished out my contract with the school district, and now only see him 7.5 hours. So, I saw him on Tuesday and Thursday, and will see him today, and not tomorrow.

Today's later plans include the liquor store, and perhaps some napping. My throat feels sorta crappy, but I think it's from my nose being stuffed up and sleeping with my mouth open. Ok, I hope that's why. If not, I don't know that I need the liquor store, because I won't be partying too much.

More hugs to Annie.   He was an adorable, lucky little guy.

So, Glenda, is the woman moving from NH to MA, and the people at the rental haven't moved out yet?  You'd kinda think the landlord would have told her the correct date when it would be available...

As I was moving out on the 30th, the new tenants showed up hoping to put their stuff in the garage.  The landlord had already told them it wouldn't be available until the 1st, because I was moving stuff out the 30th, then the maintenance guys would be in there the 31st fixing the broken garage door, the chimney leak, etc etc.  They showed up again on the 31st.  At that point, they're my landlord's problem to deal with.

Gracie is being very needy and pushy.  She can smell the dogs upstairs getting their raw food (and after they eat, they also get a frozen beef bone) - I assume she's informing me that hers is missing and that I need to go get some for her PDQ...  Well, sweetcheeks, if you hadn't busted a canine on one of those bones, I'd consider it.  But until that tooth is addressed...

Good Saturday, everyone.  I gotta get my butt in gear so I can meet up w/my sisters.  The truck is going to have to stay packed for a few days because there simply isn't time to unload everything today.

Walked outside to 71 degrees...aah, nice.  I've been sitting on my back porch for about an hour now.  The dogs have been exercising themselves and they are tired out...LOL.  The pack behind us have been in their back pasture area...so they have been doing the run the fence dance.  Its all fine, its not aggressive.  Its like a party...truly...I can tell the difference.   Sometimes, their 5 dogs and my 3 just meander together at the fenceline, so don't worry folks, they are OK with the fence running.

Between fence dancing and throwing the CUZ...exercise is complete for them anyway.  For me....my fingers are the only thing getting exercise right now.  LOL.  Right now, Heidi has a collection of toys on the table next to me.  She is giving me choices.  Big Smile

This made me chuckle.  Sounds like a good plan...liquor up then sleep it off.  Drinks

Paige, I took your advice from yesterdays chat and posted a thread about the Heidi frustration issue I'm living with.

I suppose I should start the mountain of laundry that awaits.  Have a good Saturday!

Barbara, if for some reason your behaviorist falls through, let me know & I'll give you the number to the one that I used for Bevo years ago.  She was at TAMU but now, she's in private practice in Houston.

Bevo is being pathetic this morning.  He's up my butt even more than normal.  He's following so closely that he's ran into me twice when I've stopped to do something.

Cher is trying to bounce off the walls.  Interactive toys & short training sessions have done nothing to  burn off this excess energy.  37 more days of "limited exercise."  I may go lay some tracks out in the pasture.  That could burn some energy off without too much bouncing.

The lawn folks are here mowing & Brutus is on duty.  He has followed me room to room watching the workers out the windows.  He is not happy about people being in his yard.

MIL is leaving tomorrow.  She's been such a huge help over the past week, & I'm sad to see her go.  I told her that as soon as FIL retires, they should consider a move to Texas.

I hope everyone has a great long weekend!

I'm going backpacking, I'll be back late on Monday.

Send Bevo to me, plus a weiner dog if you can spare one. I was so sad about Aspen, and Kate lost Frisby, an IMHA dog, too. I need an up-my-butt dobe to snuggle up to *sigh*

I am working all weekend, ugh.

Paige, yeah, that would have been really nice, huh?  It sounds to me like the renter left the arrangements for the old gent until the last minute and then, oh gee, we can't leave.  Why no one contacted Cheryl is beyond me.

My Kujo was just a dream this morning.  DH was sitting where I normally sit at the table and Thunder was on the other bench.  So I told him to shove over a bit, and he just snuggled like a lamb.  I am sooo hoping that his horrible behavior is simply due to confinement  and that once in the house he'll be normal again.  But, am not giving up the vet check on Friday.

I'm still sad about Aspen and then just read about Frisby. My heart hurts for Annie and Kate.

It's a gorgeous morning and is supposed to be about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. After I get back from my orientation, I'd like to do some yard work. I'd normally be getting the house cleaning done this morning but it'll have to wait. It's so nice knowing I have 3 days to get everything done and plenty of time for fun stuff too.

I'd really like to take our kayak out but I'm betting the lake and river are going to be jam-packed this weekend. Might see if DH will go for it anyway.

The last two mornings with lows around 60 and a dry high in the 80's. This is what we call Heaven. This is Shadow's Gotcha Weekend and there's a thread for that in General Chat. DW is working all this weekend and I have 3 days off.

I'm getting into golf. Not watching it, playing it. Right now, I just swing at plastic practice balls and I bought some used clubs at a Goodwill. It made sense to not have to spend a lot of money but I have fun taking a swing. I've notice that if I "concentrate" I foul up and either dig turf or I top roll it over a few feet. But if I relax and line to the ball once and then swing, I can really get a hold of that thing. I started out in the back yard but Shadow thought it was a new toy for him and chewed one a bit. So, I went to the front yard. Right now, it's all in the rough.

So, right now, I have a 1 wood, a 5 iron, and a putter. Essentially, a driver, a wedge driver for short long shots, and a putter for the green. I may add to my collection as time goes by but I thought, instinctively, you only need basics.

And I'm not trying to load myself down with too much strategy or terminology. I just want to have fun whacking the crap out of some balls. But I am going to have to get to at least a driving range and find my sweet spot for at least a 100 yard drive. The average long hole is 250 yards with obstacles and fairway turns (dog-legs) and if I ever hope to play a game, I've got to build up from scratch, first.

I've even seen advice that you don't have to use a chipper to get out of a sand trap. You can use your driver, which has a larger face and is more forgiving. Also, you start from the tee with a driver, such as a low number wood. And often, a player will switch to a low iron for the second fairway shot but you can still use the starter driver, just back off on the power swing.

    Anyway, happy Labor Day everyone.

Wow I miss one day here and have so much to catch up on. Sounds like a mix of good and very bad :( glenda, please pm me her addy. I would like to send a card.

I'm so tired and just woke up. I think I need another couple of hours sleep though before I start hitting the serious list of things to do.

I feel like I walked a million miles yesterday. I was field support for 3 dogs and their handlers on 3 sep searches. We did not find the guy and searched the high prob areas for a wandering ahlziemers (sp) person plus the areas the the locals wanted us to follow up on. Our team is going back to spend another day out there but I have to get ready for vaca so I'm not going to join them. I hope they have better luck.

I'm at work ... again. I worked late last night -- only left in order to meet up with Meg (she picked up something for Billy at our vet's office in Smyrna and I picked up something for Pirate at the holistic vet near me so we met just short of halfway (thanks Meg!) to switch "substances" LOL.

But I'll be here for a long day today and I just *hope* I get close to done.

We had Give Kids the World this morning but it was VERY quiet -- most of the kids have to go to school this week so it's not a popular week to come.  Luna says she was on the alert but NO squirrels this morning!! Ahem!!

Awww, man!!!  Frisby, too????  That is simply no good.... I'm so sad for Kate.  :(

Unloading the truck would of COURSE be the time when I would wrench my back.  Not loading it, unloading it.  Just to "get a few things"... I still have to truly unload the thing in 2 days.  Grrr... Gracie whined the whole time from the yard.  She's SUCH A BABY!!  I told her I'd beat her with a stick if she didn't zip it.  She ignored me and kept whining.

Right in front of the 'Rest Stop Security' LMAO.

I think I mentioned FH did security detail for the Usher concert last night - he's been walking around singing Usher songs and doing this weird hip-wiggle dance move thing all morning. Thank doG he left for work...
