Monday mumblings

    Monday mumblings

Someone knock me over with a feather: one of my female co-workers quit Friday.  I just got a memo from the boss that effective today, she is no longer on the admin staff.  Her keys were on her desk when I got back from lunch on Friday (she was here in the morning).  All her personal stuff is still in her office.  Maybe she was fired, I don't know.  Very strange.

"All her personal stuff is still in her office. Maybe she was fired, I don't know. Very strange." For some reason it doesn't want to quote this morning -- usually when someone gets fired they make you pack up under watch and then 'escort' you out -- they don't want you running loose to spread dissent or "do" something bad.  That would lead me to think she quit, but stranger things have happened!

Odd that it's 9:30 e.s.t. and I'm 2d????  I still have the mother of all headaches this morning from seeing Inception.  It keeps flirting with being a migraine which I'm holding off with peppermint oil but man, I still feel yuck

I quit a job like that once. It was the worst job ever and totally full of whackos (drug addicts, anger management problems, sued for sexual harrassment, etc). Finally one day I had enough, left my keys on my desk, wrote "consider this my resignation" on a sticky note and walked out. The sticky note part felt like sweet revenge because my boss always left me "you have to work this weekend" on sticky notes. I learned to really hate sticky notes.

The psoriasis is flaring up on my hands again. Its torture. I really need to get my own home light booth. Its too hard to get to the dermatologist 4x per week when they are only open during work hours.

I'm dog sitting spirit, the corgi, this week. She barks a lot! I'm going to have to work on that! Yesterday I fed her out of 2 different puzzle toys. She didn't quite get it. It always saddens me when a dog doesn't understand a puzzle toy. It means that they don't get enough mental stimulation in their lives! That or they are dumb, which I know she isn't.

Hope everyone had a decent weekend.

Today the weather is dreamy. Hardly any humidity and in the 70s. The humidity has been so brutal this summer so this is such a relief!

We are in a small office (6 people), it is very lax, and have security cameras. If she quit, why leave all her pictures and such?  I dunno, but firing would make me think she left in a huff and forgot about them.

Anyway......weekend was okay.  The heat/humidity finally broke Sunday.

There is a big fluffy dog at the shelter I'd love to have - I think he is part Samoyed.  He's very, very thin.  But it is not in the cards for me right now.  I hope he finds a good home.

Kate the beagle was adopted!  (she didn't go to New Jersey, though).

I had a dream last night that I won or was given enough money to pay off all our bills/debt. It was a nice dream and then the alarm jarred me back to reality. *sigh* I really wanted to go back to that dream!

We attended my significant others grandmother's memorial service on Saturday. I hadn't been inside a church or chapel in years (neither one of us are religious). I forgotten just how awkward it is to not practice a religion and be there for a service. It wasn't too heavily religious of a service, a few psalm readings, a prayer and a hymn. Thankfully, none of his extended family seemed to care (I have a few members of my family who wont' really speak much to me when they found out I haven't considered myself Catholic in many years). Though its unfortunate I had to meet some of his extended family this way, it was nice to meet them.

I wasn't trying to rub it in.  I didn't want everyone to get too excited, thinking you finally came to your senses.

Hey, at least I didn't say "Kate the beagle was euthanized".  Now that would be rubbing it in.

I just gave Ruger (weim that is here at work with my coworker) some benadryl.  He brushed a big yellow jacket nest with his back and has about a dozen welts. :(    We'll be keeping a close eye on him.  His Vet is only a few blocks from the office (same one I use) in case he has a bad reaction.  We didn't know that nest was there.   Too bad poor Ruger found it.

Tina, that's odd about your coworker and her sudden departure.  I'm glad Kate the beagle found a home.   Jamison wouldn't be willing to share Deb with even the cutest little beagle girl.  LOL  Besides, beagle Kate might have wanted Jamison's lingerie collection and that would get Jamison's panties in a twist. Wink

    Busy day here, again.

    . . . . . .  and believe me  . . . . Jamison would fight to the death to protect his lingerie.

I absolutely love Mondays when I don't have to work...and DH does Stick out tongue. I cleaned house yesterday, so nothing to do today but some shopping and playing outside. It's a beautiful morning. It's cool right now but will be 90ish later.

Tina - are you going to have to pick up the slack from the person who quit? If so, I hope they find a replacement very soon.

Maybe a few things, like the accounts payable stuff she did, but I have so much of my own work that it isn't terribly feasible.  Coming on the heels of the two part-timers being let go recently does put us in a bind, though, so anything is possible.

Hey, my DS is still job hunting - maybe I should tell him to apply.  NOT!

Poor Ruger!  Gracie found out the hard way that she's allergic - she ends up looking like the Elephant Man... and the second time was even WORSE than the first.  I'm very careful with her outside - she is NOT allowed to snap at bees/wasps/hornets, etc.

It is pretty humid here today - lots of moisture in the air.  Feels weird.  Not sure I'll be able to stand it when/if I move somewhere else.

Today so far isn't too too bad.  This weekend was good, had a great time with some friends for a birthday on Saturday night, then yesterday was relaxing and our new couch delivered!  However, the leather part is ripped in several places, so they are exchanging it on Saturday.  BLAH!

Is it weird that I am essentially telling Derek's best man where to take him for his bachlor party? lol.  To this strip club lol.  I want Derek to have fun lol but he thinks strippers are gross lol, and liked this one club (from going to another friend's bachlor party) and he said they are in a VIP room and are kind of left alone if they want to be, which Derek likes the idea of lol.

Today I'm alone at the office and the lawyer has a jam packed schedule.  But I'm going to push my way through!

There was a wicked storm last night, woke Derek and I up, and it's hilarious because we turned the TV on (to check for tornado watches) and one channel, the local weather channel for my town said the storm/tornado watch was over (the storm JUST started) the local Toronto weather station said nothing of it, and the second local for my town weather station said tornadoe warning in effect, take immediate shelter and precations if one approaches lol.  Funny how different the stations are!!  Derek and I opted to remain in bed and just listen to see if the wind changed, but to be honest, I have no idea what a tornado sounds like lol
