Best news ever - a foster home has been secured and he is to be picked up shortly

That's great news, Karen!  He's so incredibly lucky that you went above and beyond to catch him and keep him safe.

OMG, that IS the best news ever!!  I'm so happy for Red!  He's got such a sweet face, I just know he's going to make a wonderful pet for someone.

Karen, thank you again for helping this boy get a new shot at a great life.  You are Red's hero!

I got pretty sad to see him go especially when he kept looking at me like "but hey you are my mom" Crying

He became very fearful and wanted to stay in his crate, tail tucked again, wouldn't take food from her.

But when I carried the crate to her car he was all wagging after me like OK if my house comes with me LOL

I had to sit in her car and then he went in after some coaxing and was plastered to the floor.  I had put some kibble down but instead of eating it he laid on it, poor guy.

But now a half hour or so later I feel relieved, Bugsy was getting very anxious (for him, so off the Richter scale for normal dogs) and in fact was freaking out when he was going.  He tends to take care of other dogs so he was upset he was leaving. But Red was overwhelmed by Bugsy's desire to play and run and every time they were together he would wind up growling at B.  I didn't want that to escalate and I couldn't bring Red in because of Bugsy's anxiety and intent to play.

So it all fell into place, even the weather today was very cool and damp so the garage was a decent place to be - had it been 105* and sunny ............ugh I hesitate to think about it

Anyway he was sent off with the food I bought, another busy bone, an antler, the toy, a couple of frisbees, the little mat I had in the crate, the crate for now, a matching collar and leash.  Bugsy is now sad but calm

I have many role models to thank and also some great friends and contacts that made this happen.  And many thanks to all of you for the support and ideas.

Campbell's mom is the one that contacted this particular rescue so kudos to her

Having never been involved with something like this......I can only imagine the range of emation and concerns you must have experienced over the past couple days.  You have earned some good karma !  "Red" has a good chance of a great future.  That's worth a million bucks !

    Wonderful news Karen.

I was determined not to let a week or more go by before I logged on again . . . I wanted to see the update about Red -- I'm so happy to see your latest posts!  What a relief to have found a foster home.  I would've felt sad seeing him go, too.  Last month we had a lost dog overnight (a neighbor caught him after the local shelters had closed), and when I brought him to the county dog control the next morning, I felt very sad, even though we'd only had him about 12 hours.  Luckily, he was microchipped and was reunited with his owner later that day.

I hope Red finds his way to his original home (assuming it was a good one and they are looking for him), or that he finds a new home where he'll have a happy life after being rescued by his angel named Karen!

Karen -- it's clear to me that Bugsy is simply a grand-master at astral projection -- here we all think he's this big black-w-little-bits-of-white sleek dog when really he's simply a flulffy herding dog in disguise.  He's that amazing breed "Nurse Doggie".

Take care of the world Bugsy -- and that is some fine Mom you've got there!!
