Saturday Chattin'

We're getting ready to take the dogs for a romp. :)   Later today we're trying a Mexican restaraunt we've never been to.  They are well known for their enchiladas and margaritas.  I may be eating salads for a few days afterwards to counteract the millions of calories I anticipate consuming today. lol

Mindy, I hope you enjoy your vacation.  I know how you feel about being worried about the furkid.  I'll give you a gentle tap with the 2 X 4 to keep you focused on fun. lol

Going to a pool party this afternoon.  I think I am more excited than Riley.  They have three boys two of which are right around Riley's age so she should have a blast.  Their one son Dominic was in Riley's swim class and Donavan is just a year older.  It's DH's buddy from college but I think his wife and I hang out more than the guys.  LOL

Someone finally turned off the sauna and we can actually go outside for more than 20 minutes at a time.  WHoo WHoo.  Don't get me wrong, its defnitely better than snow.  I will take the heat and humidity any age compared to days of 2 or 5 degrees!!

Just me and the boys today. The husband is currently driving to Knoxville, TN to pick up a lathe that someone is giving him for free. Well the cost of a 8 hour round trip anyway. Since there was not enough room in the car for 2 humans, a dog and one large machine I opted to stay home.

I should be cleaning. Notice I said should.

Paige, the condition the rental house was left in is HORRIBLE !  I'd be calling the landlord so fast and billing him for staying in a hotel until he cleaned it up.

I thought Paige's sister owned the house, but maybe I'm confused.

I totally understand the nervous about leaving the dog(s) for vacation feeling. I'm sure everything will be fine though and you'll have a great time.

Jackie - eat and drink a little for me too today. I'm usually full from chips and salsa before the food even arrives, but I never let that stop me for gorging on the rest of the meal.

DH just left for work and I think I'll get showered and go to Target early and then come home and clean. I really needed this weekend to arrive and plan to enjoy every single minute of it.

 Mindy I am sure that Baily will be fine - make sure that your parents know to give him some safe place that he can go to, to be alone.  I left B in a kennel for 9 days when we went to England for my stepson's wedding.  I couldn't wait to pick him up!

Jackie I want to go to the new Mexican place too!  I love chips, salsa, burritos, enchiladas, etc. Have I ever mentioned that eating is a special talent of mine LOL

Dawn I should be cleaning too but I think I am going to play golf ha ha ha

We are going to a BBQ later, will be fun if a bit reserved, but hey they'll be food and adult beverages so 

As I was walking Bugsy this morning I realized that I am finally starting to understand what makes him tick and was laughing at our 'accidental' training cues. Took me long enough ay?

we had a tiny storm overnight and even though it wasn't much the plants seem a touch happier this morning

Mindy -- be sure to tell him how long you'll be gone (use "fingers" and words) and then if your Mom will play along have her tell Baily every night how many more 'bedtimes' til MOm comes home.

They LEARN.  They don't know these words till they need to know them -- but it helps give them the idea this is a finite time and Mom WILL be back.  They can't 'count' but they can SEE that every niught it's less fingers. 

One time I left for two MONTHS -- but I told the dogs we'd be back just after Firecracker Day.  No joke -- my neighbor came over and let them out and fed them every day.  She was ASTONISHED that they weren't unnerved -- and then the fourth of July happened and THEY STARTED TO LOOK FOR ME (we got home on the 8th)  She did as I asked and showed them fingers and they were fine with it -- and on the 8th when she came over they were both sitting in front of the window. 

They REALLY get it when you give them some tangible idea of time.  And trust me -- this bunch of mine knows the difference between "Mom & Dad have to go away -- YOU are staying iwth ______ for X beddytimes".  But when I say "Mom & Dad and Billy, LUna & Tink are going...." they are all sitting at the door waiting to go with!!!

*I* have to go to work today -- we're slammed and we have two gi-normous closings next week so I've gotta go in and get MY stuff done up early.  But at least I got a bit of sleep this morning and now I'm shot out of a cannon again

Ahhhh, listen!  The sounds of peace and quiet!  Lovely!  And Todd just needs to be here for it to happen.

I know that I get anxious when walk times roll around because the crew don't behave very well for me.  They pick that up.  And with Todd gone and DS coming in with his ANGRY energy, that compounds everything.  I worked really hard at staying calm but when one is under attack, that doesn't last long.

Paige, I'm so sorry for your sister.  gosh, what a rude homecoming!

Mindy, have a wonderful vacation, and try not to worry too much about Baily.  He'll be with people who love him and especially if they give him a safe place for a time out, he'll be fine.

Please keep fingers crossed and prayers going that we get THE call very early in the week and can get on the road to a new home!

Well me sleeping didn't last long.. Lol. Up at 7am this morning. Oh well. Supposed to be another hot day. Granted not as hot as some places but still! 80 is hot enough. Lol. 

I've learned that Sandy doesn't have the mental capacity to get out of the sun when she gets to hot... And I thought Maze wasn't the smart one. Lol!  So now a kiddie pool is on the list of things to buy this summer.

Apparently I'm supposed to go to a birthday party for a little kid but no one told me about it. They just assumed I wanted to go and agreed on my behalf.. Not cool!  It's not that I don't want to go, but I'd like to be asked not just thrown in.  So because no one told me, I'm staying home and enjoying the peace and quiet with the dogs. Maybe arrange my new freezer. 

I'm sooooo happy that today is saturday and I don't have to work for 2 days. I plan on mowing the lawn, cleaning, laundry, meeting a friend and hiking with our dogs then having another friend over and just hang out for the night on the deck. Maybe even have a fire.

Mindy, enjoy your vacation! I understand the worry. I am feeling the same way with my big vacation coming up. But your dog with be fine and well taken care of. So try not to spend too much time stressing about it and just have fun.

Jackie, I love mexican! Michigan mexican, that is. Not texas mexican. Ha.

I'm jealous of the pool party. That sounds like a nice relaxing day. And it makes me realize that I have not spent any time at the great lakes this summer! It is not summer without at least a few days hanging out on a lake michigan beach. Hmmm

Ah, MI mexican is a poor imitation.  Although, there is an AWESOME and really authentic Mexican resturant in Traverse.  There is a pretty good place down here too, but this one is a bit more "angloed". I do a pretty decent version myself.......

Yuck, have to pick up a few things at the grocery today.  Totally out of and can't wait type stuff, but man I hate grocery shopping on the weekends.

So far it's a good day Lucky is feeling better but I'm keeping an eye on my shadow lol. My Luau party is tomorrow I can't wait everyone is excited  I gotta go get some more things. Hope everyone's having a good day.

 My wooden fence is going up today!! *does a dance* Can't wait!!! And the railing on the deck goes up as well! The house is slowly coming together...

Doing a happy dance!!!  DH is home,  "They" put money on my food card AND the life insurance money is starting to trickle in!  Whoopppie!!  Once the bank opens on Monday I can put tires on my car, buy myself and new bra AND Todd a watch band so he can actually wear his watch.  Yipppppeeeee!  I'm a happy girl!
