Saturday Chattin'

OMG Glenda! The money fairy came! Actually, when I was a kid, my dad passed away, so we three got his social security benefits since my parents were divorced. My mom used to have to wait for the checks, and when they'd come, she'd say the eagle 'pooped'. Not pooped though, LOL. So, the eagle pooped at Glenda's house!! Haha.

It is officially 900 degrees out.

FH's zone won Interzone! They all went out to celebrate and I had to wait to pick FH up from the bar. I went to bed at 3, and was up for work at 6AM. *yawn*.

I've got Monday and Tuesday off and I can't WAIT.

Well there goes my first agility trial.. *sigh* Some days I hate being the responsible one. A lady I dog sit for needs a sitter for next week. I was supposed to go to a trial on the 25th but instead I agreed to dog sit.. It's ok thou! There'll always be more trials. And heck, this lady pays well. Stick out tongue

Mindy, have a great time!!! Baily will be fine.

Ugghhh Paige, I feel for your sister. Our last renters left the house a wreck. They had, apparently, unhousetrained dogs & there were pee stains all over the place. We had to replace carpet because it was so bad. They also had an aquarium that had leaked on the floor as well. We now have a "no pet" policy because of them.

Lisa, have fun at the pool party!

Dawn, how did the insurance meeting go? Inquiring minds want to know....

Cathy, I know that you've had a not so good week. I hope that you have a great weekend.

Karen, it's funny how they "train" us.

Julie, eating Mexican food anywhere but Texas or California, does not truly count as eating Mexican.

My boys are home, which makes everything a lot more hectic around here. I like hectic. We have the jet skis, & boat cleaned & trailered. My brother is going pull the boat, while I pull the jet skis & another trailer down for vacay. DH is feeling a bit useless because he doesn't know how to pull a trailer, & there's no way in heck that I'm going to teach him now, & expect him to make it safely.

I need a good salsa recipe. I use the El Arroyo method of salsa. I go to El Arroyo, buy a quart of their salsa, & use it. But since that's not an option for next week, I need to make some. Anybody got a good, EASY salsa recipe?

yep, I've got a great one, but unfortunately it's in storage in MI.

Amanda, I had a friend years ago who used to throw a can of rotel in the blender and maybe add a little salt and pepper to taste and voila...salsa!  I can't remember if I liked it or not, but a lot of our friends used to.  Might be worth trying out.  I hope you have a great time in Galveston and that the tar is very minimal.  I will be anxious to hear how bad it really is.

We have had a busy weekend.  We met friends for dinner last night and then they came over for a few more drinks afterwards.  Devin and their son played so well together and were adorable, like they always are together.  They kept hugging and kissing too which is so sweet when they are still young.  I feel great today but hubby is hurting big time!

This morning we went to Little Gym and then a little girl from there came over for a play date.  Devin was exhausted but wouldn't nap so my SD and I got out and ran a few errands and by the time we got to Target, Devin was OUT!  So I managed to put her in the stroller without waking her and we managed to roam around for about an hour and only spent $100 which I would call a success with the amount of items we ended up with.  We were carrying them and had to go for a basket eventually.

I am sure we will play it low key tonight since hubby is hungover.  I am hoping for some BBQ for dinner.

Ok, now that I have a jumping off point....add some cilantra, fresh of course, a squeeze or two of lime and even better!

I made a run to the grocery store, & we are going to do a test run of salsa tonight.  I grabbed a few tomatos that I'm going to chop, an onion, cilantro, a jalapeno, limes, salt & pepper.  If it goes well, I'll make a run to the farmer's market in the morning to pick up enough to make a big batch.

Sarah, I'll let you know how it looks.  For as long as I can remember, there has been random tar on the beaches there, but it has never been a large amount.  Hopefully, it will be the same way this visit.

Ahh, the insurance company. They (director and assistant) tried to tell me that they fixed the issue 6/22/10 and I should only have problems with claims from before that date. I pointed out that these payments were before that date but paid after and should not have paid wrong since the problem was fixed? After a bit of silence, they started making excuses again and went into how the the process works.

(under my breath I muttered "how stupid do you think I am??)

I told them that they could talk all they wanted, but I had no faith that they really cared. If they did I would not have to work so hard to get them paid. The frustration I feel was very evident. So was the fact that I was done with excuses.

    So....

They will have a list of all incorrectly paid claims for the past 60 days to me by Tuesday morning, I will have a check by Friday for those monies owed. By the end of the week I will have a list of all claims for the past 5 years rechecked, on their time, not mine. Any money to be found owed to us will be paid by the following Friday. I asked for that because this has been an on and off issue for that long. I think they finally get it. I am not going to go away, I am not going to back down.

On the whole I am an easy going person, and I am willing to always work with people. When I reach the end of the line, the gloves are off and I will use all means necessary to win. Because we are a providers office and have a contract, they are required to pay the agreed amount. They fact that they are short changing us is a breach of said contract. Face value, it is fraud full stop. They, on average, tell you it will take 30 days to reprocess a claim, and then 9 times out of 10, it is reprocess wrong or kicked back for the same reason or denied for duplicate or timely filing. That ups the charge to racketeering.

Big big words. Would I make them stick? probably not, but it could hurt them at this time with people not real happy with insurance companies to start with, so they will comply enough in my estimation to shut me up.

One company down, 5 more majors to conquer.

DH makes an excellent green sauce...hot, hot hot.  Not really a dipping sauce, so yours sound like the way to go Amanda!

Looks like it was a fairly good day all around here.  Glenda's DH came home and she was visited by our favorite fairy...always good.

Meg's FH won Interzone!!!  Woot.  You have to 'splain that 2 me.  I'm behind the times, I'm sure.

    Kitty's fence is going up...excellent!

Daisy's luau is tomorrow...FUN!  And, Lucky is feeling better.  Nice!

Amanda and Mindy are both ready for their vacations!  Have a great time!

Julie is about to party down...if she hasn't already...YES!

Karen made a bUgsy realization...love it when that happens with the dogs!  BBQ & adult beverages.  I've had a few Mojitas...sweet!  Well, they aren't sweet...but HE!! yeah!

Pool parties and margaritas for Lisa.  Yeah, its a good day.

No snakes in the pool here, and that makes for an excellent day!

The Hooligans rolled in something disgusting this afternoon...so I was tasked with an emergency bath.  Indifferent  But, they smell oh so much better.

    Off to enjoy the evening.

Jackie....how was the restaurant!  I agree...mexican food is best in Texas and/or California.  I've had some FINE authentic mexican food in Santa Rosa, CA...best I've ever had!

    Smile

    ETA... GO GET'EM DAWN!

Oh yeah.  A VERY nice 24 hours!!  The airline fairy AND the $$$ fairy!

I just about died when I read about your little "friend" in the pool.  I'm afraid I would have cracked the liner screaming!

Dawn!!!  You GO girl!!  Shoot if you keep this up, they'll be able to afford to keep you FULL time!!

Have I mentioned how nice it is to have Todd home??  And how upbeat and positive he is???

Interzone is a lifeguard competition :) and his ZONE won, not just him! Paige posted an album of pictures some photographer took from last year.

Barb, the food was absolutely delicious (we both had enchiladas) and the margarita was very, very good.  Charles can't have any alcohol but he did taste mine and after that I had to move it out of his reach. lol   The warm, soft, homemade corn tortillas were so good I could have made a meal out of them alone.

He's asleep in his chair and I can barely keep my eyes propped open.  Ah, our wild and crazy life. lol

THanks for all the positive thinking.  I told Baily that Grandma and Grandpa were going to pick him up tomorrow.....of course, that made his head tilt and he spun around looking for them Smile  I showed him 10 fingers, he kissed me and ran off for his ball !  I am sure he'll be fine.  During the work day he'll be in the office behind a gate.  A bed and a chair to look out the window from.  During the night, he'll sleep in my parents room.  I'm just not gonna worry !

Work was great.  Today was the first day of a new ad.  Huge traffic and sales.  Beat the weekly budget by 30%, customer count was up the first time in 16 weeks.  Good note to start the vacation on.  I have faith in my assistant so I'm not gonna worry about work either!

I'll be checking in and try to post pics now and then.

    Everybody be good !!!!!

Dawn, we really need a bowing emoticon.  I'm so glad that you put the insurance company in their place!

    Everybody be good !!!!!

Mindy, you know that this place is going to be in bad shape next week, with neither of us around to keep everyone in line.  Wink

The salsa turned out pretty nicely.  It needed a little more kick to it, but I can take care of that.  Add a trip to the farmer's market to my already busy 'to do' list.  I made brownies for dessert.  They turned out very nicely.  Duncan Hines makes a mean brownie mix.

    • Gold Top Dog

Barb?  Does he use tomitillo's and jalepenos?  I don't recall the rest of the stuff, but, I make a pretty mean green sauce myself!
