TGIFriday chit-chat

Come on down, Amanda!! It's actually really fun and something FH looks forward to every summer. My favorite competition (and the one I think you'd excel at, Amanda, LOL) is called 'beach flags'. Why, I don't know, there aren't any flags. I give you, Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beach_Flags_(sport)

Julie, I ignore the red flashing light frequently.

Meg, beach flags looks like an event that I would enjoy!

Bedazzled 2x4 heading your way, Amanda.

I am sooooo looking forward to having a weekend.  I need sleep.  And sun.  And time with Gracie.

Hey thanks, Paige!!! My FH is in picture number 83! He's usually in the paddle relay - so he must have handed off his board already and was running to tag his teammate. I just found out I have to work until 7:30ish so I'll miss all the other stuff, but I should still be there in time for beach flags.

    Meg, he's cute!

    Jewlieee

Is it bad that I'm ignoring the little red light on my phone?

I ignore it frequently too, so maybe we're both bad.

Busy, busy and still busy here. So glad it's Friday though. DH works all weekend but I think some alone time and shopping are just what I need.

Paige - That sounds like you got good news on the job, right?

Glenda - I'm still hoping to hear good news for you guys too.

It's supposed to be near 100 degrees all weekend but it's been pretty nice all week. I might need to spend some time in the pool. I haven't swam at night for a long time and that sounds pretty nice to me right now.

Amanda, how far is Crystal Beach from Houston? Dog-friendly rentals? (Our national is in Houston next year and sharing a beachhouse rather than staying at the icky host hotel has been floated for a bunch of the performance folks.)

I'm sick of the humidity, but kind of enjoying our rain- it's keeping things relatively cool!

I would like some chocolate, a pillow, and a hammock delivered to my office, please... margarita optional - I think I might fall asleep before consuming 2 sips.  I can faintly hear the birds singing outside and I would SOOOO much rather be snoozing outside with them singing me a lullaby....

Counting down to touch down.  Todd will be on the ground at 7:40.  The cats and the duck have been great while he's gone.  Not so for the dogs and son.

Thor kept barking at Tyler for some reason.  I'd tell him to leave it, he'd lay down and 3 seconds later, back barking at Tyler, which of course set everyone ELSE off.  I blocked Theo in the hallway, basket muzzled Sheba and banished Thor to the barn for the day.  Got a little bit of peace and quiet that way and managed to get all the laundry done.  One load in the dryer left to fold.

Off to do a bit of cleanup so I can clean ME up!

If somebody is handing out margaritas, send a few my way!

Cait, Crystal Beach is about 1 hour 45 minutes from Houston. You'll also have to catch the ferry accross to Galveston. The ferry is ran by TxDOT, which means that it's slow, & sometimes not very well ran. Wait times vary & it's difficult to guage how long it the wait will be to get loaded. For a beach bum, it's a great vacation destination because it's a very small, quiet area. If I were showing in Houston though, I would definitely look closer. Kemah, Seaside, or even the LaPorte area. You would be on the bay, but you'd only be looking at a 30-40 minute drive into Houston. (Depending on the location of Nats.) If you need help finding something, or want other ideas. I have lots of friends & family in that area, & I spent LOTS of time in all of those locations when I was younger. I may be able to help you out.

I am so glad that this week is over!  I need to go into the office to finish off a few things in the morning, but then, I am done for a week!!!

ETA:  Sarah, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that we don't end up having to deal with oil.  If you aren't planning on spending some time at Moody Gardens, while in Galveston, you might want to look at it.  I'm pretty sure that both of your girls will enjoy it there.

Gosh, I'm sorry your vacation may be spoiled, Amanda. The beaches in Pensacola are closed, but they started getting tarballs maybe 7 or 8 weeks ago.  Mid-June when we were up North, we got word that they were showing up in Panama City, but those beaches are still open and ok.  So, maybe you'll get lucky.  I sure hope so.

DH is home and all is right with the world again.   The dogs are calm and quiet, DS is human again..........that settles it, next time he goes out of town WE ALL are going with him!
