TGIFriday chit-chat

Good job, Dawn.  Too bad your employers don't recognize that you are a valuable asset and give you a huge raise, instead of letting you go.

Thank you. And for the record they are not letting me go because they want to, in fact the opposite is the truth. It all comes down to being able to pay me what I currently make when there is only 1 Dr. I still might work part time for the one that is staying.

And apparently my big words worked. I just set up a conf. call with a director for 1pm today. This should be interesting.

    Boo on tar balls.

Amanda and Sarah, go to Rockport or Port A.   No oil, great beaches and lots to do in both areas.

I would love to change our destination, but we DH's family is flying down, & we already have 8 houses rented on Crystal Beach.  We're kinda stuck.

It only made it to 91 yesterday.  I was tempted to put a sweater on.

    Deb W.

We hit 100... broke the record.

Got the first ever family reunion for my husband's family tomorrow.... wish me luck.

WOW!  Eight houses!  I guess you are rather committed to Galveston.  lol

Dawn, I should have known they wouldn't let you go unless they had no choice.

    • Gold Top Dog

Gee and we're getting a break....only supposed to be 95 here today.  I've been streaming the MA stations the last few days and while it's been very hot up there this week, tomorrows high is 74.  74!!!!  Oh gosh, wouldn't that be hard to take??

    • Gold Top Dog

I got the actual bill from the Dr's office for the $300 or so from my annual visit, so I called them on my day off.... and I *think* I got all of the charges reversed!  Whoo hoo!  At least $171 of it was in error (the dr's office didn't send over the right info), but I was still a wee bit worried about the rest.  The un-adjusted amounts submited for the annual visit was $927. I still can't believe that.  no wonder people without insurance dont go to the doctor.  sheesh.

I upped my insurance for this fiscal year (july-june) so I've already been to see an ENT, gotten scheduled for a CT and allergy testing, and an appt with a hem onc/derm guy about my moles.  The up in insurance was mostly a safety net in case we choose to get pregnant, but I'm making the most of it otherwise!

Dawn, great work with scaring the other company into action!

Glenda and Paige, still good thoughts.

Hope ya'll have a good weekend, we're heading out for a friend's wedding!

Not a lot of rain where I'm at now but just slightly north of me it's been raining like crazy.  This morning I looked at the Rio Grande River as I drove over and it's just about ready to spill out onto the flood plains.  I haven't seen it that full in a long time.  I love it when it rains but I feel so bad for all the flooding in El Paso and Mexico. We always need the water but when it comes this quickly we are just not adjusted to handle it well.

Thanks Nicole!  :)  Good news - I got "the talk" today, and they want to keep me.  However, what the temp agency told me, and what the time line is on this contract, are two different things.  I really hate that - it's like the temp agency did a bait and switch for me.  Why tell me it's 3 months, when it's actually 780 hours... that's 19.5 weeks, which is almost 5 months.  Jackmonkeys.  However, I did find out some good news in that benefits eligibility is "only" 6 mos currently (as opposed to the 2 years I was told - which 2 years is when the owner pays for it completely.) However, with health care reform, that will change effective Jan to 90 days until eligibility.  More than you wanted to know, I'm sure.

Today is my grandmother's 88th birthday.  My sister wanted me to send an Edible Arrangement to her, cool, no problem.  When the rep asked me the occassion, I told her, and she asked if they should carve an 88 out of pineapple to add to the arrangement.  I told her if she did, my grandmother would kill me.  She doesn't want ANYONE to know her age.

That's so cute!  You'd think that 88 it wouldn't matter anymore if people know,  but I guess it does.  Good for her!  I took DS #1 and his GF to the airport early this a.m. since they're flying to San Diego for the weekend.  They want to check out the "Over the Line Tournament" on Mission Bay and I'm waiting patiently for my friendly neighborhood handyman to come back with whatever he needs to fix my gate. DS #2 told me he got up around 3 a.m. to use the bathroom and it was raining.  Holy Cow!  I never heard it, but I guess they'll tell us all about it on the news at noon.

Ugh, Paige, I do hope it works out for you!

Glenda, how's it going with Todd?

Another ordinary day here. I love lazy summer vacation.  The kids are in a great mood today, must have been the early bedtime!   The temps are low 60s right now, foggy and grey.

Spoke to a grade school friend last night (messaging on fb) and I was so sad to hear how he is struggling with bipolar disease.  Here was this vibrant, joyful guy whose disease has changed him so much.  Makes me terribly sad.  Couple days ago I convinced him to try going gluten free and he's really trying, which is great. My heart goes out to him in his struggle.

Dogs are good. Loving the dog door. Echo has had zero accidents since it's been in.! She is prancing around with a little pine branch. "I a retriever!"  She was carrying her bowl earlier. Seems like she always has to have something in her mouth and does her retriever prance (waggy tail, ears back, general pleased expression LOL).  So cute.

Her class last night went well. The trainer is GREAT.  Compared to the classes I took with Gobie which were Volhard method- total different thing and so much the better!

Volhard- ALL dogs are fitted with a nylon choker which goes right at the top of their throats/necks.  March around in a circle yanking and pulling.  Lots of compulsion to "train" the dogs how to sit/down/heel.  Lots of corrections.   I was under the impression at the time that it was 'positive' training because you offered food rewards from time to time.

Positive- ALL dogs wear a flat buckle collar or the trainer's favorite the sense-ation harness (like an easy walker).  There is NO yanking, pulling, or compulsion The dogs think for themselves and are clicked/treated (I use yes, I have NO coordination for a clicker, treat, leash LOL).  Echo has a TON of fun learning and figuring out what I want.  In retrospect, Gobie did it because he HAD to, because if he didn't he was punished (checked- leash jerk).

She is really bringing me back to me.  I got lost as just a mom and wife there.

TGIF!!  Although today is my 'long' day because dh won't come home till well after 5pm.  I love the weekends!  Everyone have a great one!

So I left my son a note this morning to please mow - he just called and said "which side of the yard do you want me to do?"  I said "front and back" (duh, the only 2 sides there are).  He did not argue, huff, or otherwise complain.  Maybe I'll whip him into shape yet. Hmm

    Small victory, LOL.

If my mom doesn't get me a copy of her 1040, I am firing her as a mother. She's been warned. I **absolutely NEED IT** to do my financial aid for school. The estimates I used from last year's have, have, please doG have to be throwing the numbers off, because I'm only getting a $650 Pell Grant, compared to over $2k in previous semesters. I will probably cave and take the student loans, if I don't get any more grant money.

I am glad that you went ahead and purchased the undies, Amanda. I am not the crafty type.

FH and I are going out tonight - the Beach Patrol is having their Interzone competition and I'm on the 'drinking team'.Hmm If anyone is wondering, the drinking team is not a county sponsored team, LOL

    • Gold Top Dog

Somebody pass me some gloves, & the 2x4.  I don't want blisters, & I fear that I'm about to be doing a lot of swinging.

Meg, can I come?  I want to be on the drinking team!

Is it bad that I'm ignoring the little red light on my phone?
