RAIN, omg it finally came, praise be. And it is still raining. I am happy.
I am currently lighting fires and using big big scary words with an insurance company. I am not well liked at the moment, but to bad, so sad.
Background:
I have been having issues with a well known company for over 45 days. They are not paying us our contracted rate. They are short 3.50, not a lot, unless you multiply that by 1000 claims ( and several Dr. offices from what I understand). I contacted them on May 12 and they promised me it would be fixed. Yeah, right. So this morning I was entering payments in and I finally had enough. I had a patient with 2 different dates of service, one is paid correctly, the other incorrectly.....ON THE SAME FLIPPING CHECK!? This has been an ongoing problem over the past 5 years.
I made a few phone calls. Then I called the company contact that I spoke with in May. This is how it went:
Me: Good morning, this is Dawn with so and so and I have to inform you that as of this morning I have been advised to contact the Attorney Generals office to open a FRAUD, RACKETEERING, BAD FAITH, investigation into your company. I have also been advised to hire a lawyer and open and start a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT in the state of Kentucky against your company.
The Contact: I am very sorry to hear that, can I ask you to wait on the call while I find the director?
Me: You have until Monday morning at 8am to have this fixed and my incorrectly paid claims reprocessed, we will not give you the information on who and what claims are paid wrong, I was assured that you could and would fix this issue. We have retained counsel and a motion will be put before the court on Monday.
The Contact: Please, I will have someone call you immediately.
Me: Sure, but the information that I gave you stands. Unfortunately we have been more than understanding. It is apparent that you do not care to fix this issue, nor do you care that not only are you not paying us correctly AS PROMISED, you require us to do the foot work to get the claims reprocessed correctly. That will no longer happen. You have until Monday morning.
The Contact: I understand, I will have someone call you.
Me: Thank you, have a great weekend.
I am such a witch. And you know what, I wasn't even lying. I have already called the AG, and the court is on Monday's agenda.
Poor poor insurance company.
