(which really scares me if she would ever fall in the pool- we do have a fence around it and she couldn't get to it from the backyard, but still.) Her front end works, but her back end sinks. Pekes, Shitz tzu's...Bulldogs...where the front end is much bigger than the back, or the leg size doesn't match the body size as well. Both of my Shih Tzu's swim and love the water. • miranadobe Posted : 5/31/2006 1:26:16 PM My parents Dobe nearly drowned when he jumped off the boat to catch the fish in the lake.  He couldn't swim - too top heavy, thin legs.  My step-father jumped in after him, swam to a nearby island (with the dog trying to climb up on top of his shoulder the entire time), then went back to retrieve the boat.  The dog now has a life vest with a handle on the back - so they can pluck him out of the water. Scared the crap out of me and that#%92s probably why he#%92s so terrified of it now.
