I get so annoyed when people tell me they are now avoiding this or that because of a study they read or heard about.  Then you hear the next study done by someone else refuting the first study.

It is amazing how sheep-like we humans are.  Drink red wine, don't; eat dark chocolate, don't, drink coffee, don't.  It's seemingly endless.  Just last night on ABC World News there was some study about blood pressure meds causing cancer, they "consulted" the ABC doctor, who said he wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet and certainly don't stop taking your meds if you have high blood pressure.

I'll have to see if the library has that book.  Interesting.

you guys ALL know how I detest "studies" esp those centering around children and how xyz will lead to them being a serial killer, or autistic, or a thief, or a liar...BAH!!

I'm so sleepy that I got to D&D, ordered coffee at the drive through, paid for it, and drove away without it. Yes, really.... that out of it today. wow, embarrassing.

haha! I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you :)

I am starting to wonder if my husband has lost some of his marbles.  His brother recently cut the base of our diving board out of the ground for me.  It has been stuck there by rusty bolts for about 3 years and I am so happy it can finally be thrown away.  Well for years now, everytime I get new plants, he tries to put them on either side of the ugly diving board base as if to frame them.  It has driven me crazy.  So today, I am trying to get him to go to the dump with a bunch of stuff from the shed he took down last week.  He keeps telling me he thinks we should keep that diving board base and paint it and make it into a planter.  I swear he is totally serious and it is about to drive me crazy.  All this work we are doing is try get rid of all the ugly ghetto looking stuff that has sort of accumulated and he is determined to keep this thing.  I am starting to wonder about him!  lol!  Come on now, a planter?  hahaha

Uhm, diving board as planter... interesting.  Do you have an old refrigerator you could put out there instead?

Gina, that's pretty awful about your grandmother's friend's son.  Stabbing himself in the chest?  Geez..

Jackie, sorry you're not feeling well... you deserve a day of self-care, I think.  Healing brownie headed your way...

Glenda, I think there just HAS to be a final good answer for you and your DH shortly.  Everything is just lining up, so that the road there is smooth and straight-forward....  I have a cyber bottle of champagne just waiting to pop for you guys!  Stick out tongue

I am so freaking TIRED! I've been up since 7am (granted it's only 10am but still!) It's Alex's birthday today and I've been busy. Made a second cake this morning. Have 2 lasagna's to make up.  Get the dog's groomed and clean up the house. *dies* Lacey made one cake last night and then we realized how many people are actually coming over tonight.  I made up food toys and froze them for the dogs to keep them entertained during dinner..

Oh for the love of Pete!!! Maze just came with a dirty tennis ball in her mouth running from the cat!!! Now she's hiding under the computer desk.... *sigh* The only one behaving this morning is Sandy!

    Hi everyone.

I can't really remember all today's chat.  But I hope everyone is doing well, I read hrough, but I honestly can't remember lol.

I have a question though, if I cook ground beef tonight, and put it in the fridge in a sealed container, will it still be good to heat up for burritos on Friday?

Probably.  I always use the 3-day rule, so Friday would be the 3rd and final day in my fridge or on my plate.  You might have leeway with beef, but not poultry.  That's just me.

Diving board planter...I like old tires painted white myself.  **cackles**

I also use the three day rule and Friday would be the last day I would use it as well.

yeah, my boss heard the conversation and said she has an old toilet I could use as well!  lol!  It floors me because he usually has really good taste and I just can't figure out where this is coming from!  He even said it would be perfect since it already has holes in the bottom for the water to drain.  I am all for unusual art, but not this!  hahaha

Usually when my DH has ideas like this, it's to avoid doing work, so I can see him thinking the same way as your husband. You never know, it might start a new design trend - lol.

I too use the 3 day rule. I don't care how good it is or how much it costs, I'm not willing to risk getting sick, so I always err on the side of caution. You could actually fry it up and freeze it for a lot longer though.

Personally, I would cook up the ground beef, put it in said container, and pop it in the freezer, then just take it back out Th night or Fr morning.  I'm really anal about meats.

Paige, its funny that we are swapping good job vibes so much!  I really believe that your time is coming and very soon.

Amanda, geeze, your mom needs to get a grip on things.  This is so not the time for family fueds.  I'm terribly sorry about your grandmother and I hope that her passing will be peaceful.  And I pray that your MOTHER will realize thats what needs to happen and that whatever it takes to give grandma a happy passing is what SHE needs to do.  I don't think your grandma would want you to have to stay away, but you do what is best for you...what you can live with.  I wish I had words of wisdom to offer, but, sadly, I've used up my quota for the month.  Will be sending you good vibes that you will know what the right thing to do for you is.

I will cook and freeze, thanks, ladies!!  I'm still new to living on my own lol.  It'll be 1 year that I moved out, this Saturday Smile

    • Gold Top Dog

Amanda, I second what Cathy said.  If you feel like you should be there, then go.  She's your grandmother and nobody, not even your mom, should keep you from doing what you feel is right.

Hmm.  Toilets as planters.  I can picture that in my mind.  I think if you take the seat off and spray paint it a snazzy color, it could work. You certainly wouldn't have to worry about making drain holes in it. Smile

It's only supposed to get to 84 today and 80 tomorrow.  I can live with that. The new *Design Star* on HGTV started Sunday and I almost missed it, and another new show is starting on CBS - *The Gates*.  Sounds like vampires living in a gated community. Will have to check that one out for sure.
