    Sat Chat

WHAT!  Its almost 7am on a Saturday and no chat yet!  LOL

Yeah, I'm up and running this morning...getting ready to go get the mama.

Hope all is well with everyone this morning.  Have a great Saturday.  Stay cool!

ETA:  Karen....run well...but not hard, please.  I'll be thinking of you and your Aunt B today.

Amanda, I just read the end of Friday's chat.  I am so sorry about DHs hanging nipple.  Ouch!   But, hey...he got it reattached then went back to Cher to work on the other one.... LOL.  Husbands are funny, sometimes.  Is it high tolerance for pain?  Or is it a short memory?  Or is it love of the dog?  Hmmm.

Arg, it is a hot mess outside and I mean HOT, HUMID and RAINING.

I think I will paint my bathroom.

    The vacuum died.

Last night was kind of fun. Churchill downs is doing night racing now and they kicked off last night with a Disco theme. We had traffic in front of the house from 4pm to almost 1 am.

Barb, have a safe trip getting your mama.

Mr. Amanda.....do you possibly hail from West Virginia? Not that there is anything wrong with that since my dearly devoted derang..err..husband hails from there and he has about the same lick of sense you do. Just wondering ya know...Big Smile

Good thoughts for all who need them.

woohoo back from the race - it was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over 25,000 running in the 3 different races - Barb I ran strong I had a lot of motivation on my back - I finished and went back and found DH and brought him in.  He has never run a race never mind attempted a 5k.  I am sooooooo proud of him.  He marveled in the whole event.  It really is a testament to this community how well this is organized and the energy all around you.

OK need some coffee and a certain dark colored beastie dog wants to play

    Good Morning all!

Karen, great job on the race.  How is your aunt doing?

It is hot and muggy here.  The good news is tomorrow will be party cloudy (less beastly hot sun) and Mon-Thurs a good chance of rain.  Here's hoping that the system stalls over us and we have day long rains to cool us off.  98 degrees is just too hot for humans. Already 90 here this morning.

DH is slowly recovering.  Still has some weakness and dizziness, and still spending quality time in the bathroom, but looking and feeling a bit better all the time.  Phew!

Big surprise...the State lied to me yet again, so no grocery shopping this weekend.  Good thing I have a freezer that's still pretty well stocked.

Ugh Glenda, I'm sure hoping for a break for you guys.  I've been thinking of you and hope things start turning around soon.  I hope your DH recovers soon.

Excellent news Karen!  Bravo for you and your DH.

Dawn...what fun!  Mint julips all around!  Or is that only a Derby thing?  Embarrassed

Gotta get moving...see ya'll this afternoon!

Karen - Congrats on a great race for both you and hubby. I need to find someone to motivate me to do something like that. I'm sorry the news about your aunt wasn't better. If you've got any pics from the race, it might go a long ways towards cheering her up.

Amanda - I hope hubby's nipple is doing okay. If it makes you feel any better, he's not the only one who doesn't listen about stuff like this. Maybe it's a guy thing Hmm

It looks like the wind may have died down a little but the news said it'll still be strong today. Hope DH doesn't have to stay and work overtime.

DH had to dig a trench for a drain pipe in the backyard the other day. Ever since, Buffy keeps going to the dirt pile and bringing a big dirt clod on to the patio. This morning I see that there is one about the size of her head. I wish I'd seen her actually carrying it, :)

I hope everyone has a great Saturday!!

WooHoo for your DH, Karen and for you, of course!! :))

It's very humid here too and heating up fast but that's not really news. lol  Around here, it's called Summer.  I took the dogs to the ballpark but all three fields were in use, so we walked along the little creek in the park.  It was fun and the dogs found many wonderful things to smell. :)  Belle found a nice mud hole to flop in so she was especially happy.

Charles stayed home.  Got home to discover him mowing the yard. Sad Gee, maybe you might want to follow doctor's orders.  Nah, he says, it's all good.  Sigh.  He goes for a check up tomorrow with the gastro surgeon.  Both his incisions look good and his pain is very slight and requires no pain killers.  He's been walking on the treadmill every day.  Just a mile and at a slow speed.  The doc said walking was fine but too limit any streuous activity, like mowing the lawn.  I asked him why he didn't wait for me to get home and do it, as agreed.  He said he didn't want the neighbors to see me mowing the lawn. Oy.  Testosterone is the leading killer of men, according to Dr. G, Medical Examiner. lol  I certainly agree with her.  I'm not really worried that he hurt himself mowing the lawn but I wish he would just take it easy a few more days till the doc sees him.

I picked two quarts, at least, of cherry tomatoes.  That's about the yield every two days.  They aren't as sweet as the tomatoes I planted last year.  This year's is a new strain from Texas A & M and they're supposed to produce longer and have less problems with insects, heat, etc.  I made some marinara sauce the other day and will be making some more this weekend.  IMO, you can never have enough marinara sauce. :)

Have a good day everyone and good vibes to everyone.  I am going to finish the laundry and give the house a lick and a promise and then take a nap.  I'm in need of a very lazy day with no goal beyond relaxation. :)

Karen, good thoughts for your aunt.

Amanda, don't tell your dh, but after I got over the visual, I thought "stupid man".

Cathy, it is a dumb guy thing.

My interior painting clinic is next Saturday, even though Home Depot's website said there was one today.  So I wasted my morning waiting to go instead of getting groceries before all the women with bratty kids crowd the store.

    Hot & humid here.

My guy friend hasn't called me back, so I guess that impromptu trip I was going to make is a no go.  Bleh.

Hi Everyone! Hubby left to help his daughter with her home renovation, so just me and dogs at home. I guess its a good day to do laundry etc.

Going to be hot and humid today. At least its cooler under the big trees. Have a good day everyone!

Sorry Tina and sorry about the wrong date for the painting clinic. I hate having days like that and I too try to get my shopping done before the families show up.

DH came home and tested out what the pool co. suggested and guess what? Yep, it worked. Solved the immediate problem and we don't need the spa side remote right away, so there's no urgency on getting it repaired right now. DH thanked me for doing the research and finding what the issue and so I decided not to give him a bad time. I'm just glad it's fixed and the pool sweep is working again. With the wind we've had, this was the worst time to have it not functioning.

I did my workout here at home today and now need to go jump in the shower. No plans for the day and the house is clean, so maybe I'll do some reading.

I'm not sure that silver nailpolish on my toes was a good idea.  I kind of feel like I should be in an astronaught costume.  FH could be in for a surprise when he gets home.

    • Gold Top Dog

Yay, Karen, I'm glad your race went well.

Amanda, is it bad that I couldn't stop laughing at your dh's nipple story?  So funny.

I went out to watch the CGC testing at the local park with River to see what we still need to work on.  Only four dogs showed up.  I was suprised at how low the turn out was.  I helped by being one of the "crowd" to walk through.  I think one of Riv's puppy classmates passed, Grace.  The other classmate from the same family, Fred, failed.  The lab that came was named Amber, I think she passed.  But I definitely looked up every time someone said her name.  LOL

One of the neighbors has set up a bounce house for their kids' b-day party, so I'll have to keep the brats from barking at them.

My front teeth are sore from the braces.  I think I'll make a milkshake for lunch.  Yum!

EEEK!  That sounds like something my husband would do too.  I'm glad he feels good enough to get out there...but goodness, listen to the doc Mr. Jackie.

LOL...I heard the weatherman say yesterday..."Its going to be hot for a few days.  Actually for the next few months."    Yep, Summertime in Texas.  Ugh.

Oh man...we thought we were going to have to buy a new "Cruise"...but those darn pool sweepers are over $1000.  So, DH took his into the pool repair and they did some majic; and the cost was around $150.00.  Oh yea...Cruise is good for another couple of years at least.

Sounds good!  My mom finished off her vacation with a Peach milkshake from Chik-Fila!  Yum!

Sounds like hot and humid is the theme of the day. I just went out and mowed the front lawn and came in drenched. Bleh! I need to build up the gumption to tackle the back yard but the ac feels oh so nice! Maybe I will just do laundry and clean the house and mow the rest of the lawn tomorrow night

Amber, I cannot believe that you are whining about 75!!! I'd give DH's left nipple for 75 degree temps!!!

Yes I am whining about 75 degree heat!! I know for a fact it's gonna get hotter!  If I wanted to live somewhere hot, I'd move to Alberta in the summer. Lol.

Today Alex is back at work. Thankfully the guy he's working for is fully aware of his injuries so Alex is only doing minor work. But hey 10$ an hour ain't bad.

I'm thinking of taking Maze to the park and get some pictures since SOMEONE requested BBD pictures. Lol. And the ones I posted yesterday are kinda bleh.
