Abbie needs your strongest vibes please

Vet just called. Her blood work is normal. He did surgery and didn't find anything except imflamation and irritation. We are both stumped.

Sending strong vibes, prayers and hugs!

Ok -- he probably did just some inital bloodwork in house??  Ask if he did amylase and lipase??  If one is double the other you can walk to the bank that it's pancreatitis -- and that OFTEN degenerates FAST into pooping and vomiting blood AT THE SAME TIME.

It looks for all the world like anything but what it is.  The inflammation numbers may not even show as high yet (and that wouldn't show in a limited bloodwork done in-house anyway usually).

Pancreatitis can be a bugger to diagnose.  and man they are SO frigging sick from it.

Yeah he just did in house blood work. I don't know anything about pancratitis. Will have to look it up

Oh, geez, then what the heck were the two round lumps that had him go inside in the first place?

Julie, I'm fretting over here, so I can only imagine what you're going through.  All our best vibes for Abbie, and you!

We are sending the most powerful Aussie vibes we can muster...

Someone mentioned HGE - if there's high packed cell volume (PCV) then do suspect that.

I'm asking myself the same thing paige. So is the vet. I think he's kicking himself for doing the surgery but said that based on the xrays and her symptoms progressing so fast that he didn't think supportive care was the way to go. Better to go in and see then wait and be irreversable. But now we still don't know. I saw those round solid objects on the xray myself. That was not normal. Maybe blood clots? Fluid? I feel kind of guilty now. What if it was nothing and she would have been fine had we just put her on fluids or something. They are going to keep her over night but I'm wondering if I should just bring her home and watch her myself. I'm at least going to go see her before they close I think

I think that 99.99% of the people here would have taken exactly the same decision that you did. After the x rays, starting to throw up blood then her stool became all blood it was a no branier what to do right away. I rather to do surgery and not find anything than not to do it and that my dog passes away.
