Abbie needs your strongest vibes please

I'm worried that she is not going to make it. Today I woke up with a headache so called in to work late. As the morning went on abbie starting throwing up. I wasn't worried, dogs throw up sometimes, no reason to panic. Around 11 she was throwing up constantly and started whining. Within a half hour she was foaming at the mouth, had runny stools and started breathing funny. I rushed her to the vet where she threw up some more but had no temp and was wagging her tail. The vet couldn't feel anything in her stomach but decided to do xrays anyway. While waiting for the xrays to develop she started to throw up blood. Then her stool became all blood. Now I'm freaking out and the vet is clearly worried, asking about rat poison. The xrays showed 2 solid almost perfectly round foreign objects but it was not clear if they were in her intestines or not. It almost looked as though they were free floating. I studied the pics and can't for the life of me think of what they could be. The vet is going to open her up but he is worried because he doesn't like what he is seeing. He still suspects poison because of the sudden onset and all the blood. God I hope she pulls through.

How far are you from Michigan State (nothing bad about your vet at all but they could do an ultrasound there which makes it FAR easier to do surgery like that)

I've seen obstructions cause that -- however, I'd probably also want him to check out pancreatitis ALSO (and yeah something like that can all of a sudden zoom forward if the body is a bit weak trying to deal WITH an obstruction).

Way back 35+ years ago when my old Prissy got sick -- I was SURE it was an obstruction (because she'd found KFC chicken bones in a gutter) .... and in the emergency the vet told me to give her mineral oil (bc we thot it was chicken bones).

Apparently whatever initially caused the obstruction actually was overwhelmed by the pancreatitits.

I'm not saying not to treat as an obstruction -- but whatever she ingested COULD have caused the other symptoms too.

You might want to call and see if neighbors have left out warfarin -- or even roach traps or something chemical.

They typically treat warfarin poisoning with Vit K -- pretty big doses of it.

Gosh -- good thots and prayers FOR SURE.  I am SO sorry -- and holler if I can help in ANY way.

     Prayers coming your way.

Could it be HGE (hemorrhagic gastroenteritis)? It sounds very much like what Piper's breeder dealt with last year. Just out of the blue onset.

Hugs to you and your crew. Hope the vet gets her stable!!!!! Come on Abbie, hang in there girl.
