    Most energetic breed of dog?

Most energetic breed of dog?  WHich breed do you think is the most energetic and why?

    jack russel terrier.

I would have to second the JRT. [:)] Dasher is a constant stream of energy!! He will play all day if I let him. I would also have to say that BC are also very energetic.

JRT's for certain.... but, I've been around some Viszlas and border collies that may have been able to give a JRT a run for their money.

I third JRT's. A day doesn't go by when a friend or family member doesn't comment on how "wired", "fired up" or "crazy" my pooch acts. But I love the breed. They're so loyal and when trained properly, they know when to chill out and snuggle. [:D][;)]

JRTs oh yeah - ga-boing, ga-boing, ga-boing!  Though I think some Aussies are right up there, if you are talking about restless sort of  bounciness-for-the-heck-of-it.  [:D]

Border collies shouldn't seem "energetic," properly - a hyper sheepdog would drive the shepherd nuts, not to mention the sheep.  A good BC should possess latent energy only when not working.  The dog in my avatar spends most of his time snoozing at my feet when he's not working.

Yup, JRT's and I found that Weimararners's (sorry for the misspellling) are pretty hyper too! They are also very smart!

I don't know a lot of dogs who get proper exersize or diets, but I know a LOT that act a lot more "wired" than my JRT. Of course, Emma doesn't eat any grains and is given plentious exersize, as well as daily training sessions.

My husband and I visited a mutual friend last week and his Jack Russell was on the move for hours. He wasn't "hyper" per se, just had a high energy level and didn't really sit still.

Other breeds that I've known to be energetic- Aussies, Border Collies, Shelties, Viszlas, and a lot of the sporting breeds.

    So far, it's unanimous.  JRTs!

    Edited to add:

Oooops - not unanimous- I just reread Jennie_c_d's post more closely. I've certainly met individual dogs that are more wired and bouncing off the walls than a JRT - but most JRTs do seem to be always "up" for fun and adventure - it's not really that I think they are spazzy - just energetic and curious.  I always enjoy meeting them!

I have heard that about weims, but honestly haven't seen it as true. I have a very laid back weimaraner. Actually all my breeders weims are sort of laid back.  He's ready to go and play when we want, he also will quietly wait in his crate on the weekends and let us sleep in until 1030/11am...That being said he does get alot of mental stimulation which I think is in some ways more important that physical exercise(though that's important too).
I would have to say JRT's and border collies...

The most energetic breed I've ever met were the following, in order of what I think is the most energetic:

    - Belgian Malinois
    - Belgian Groenendael
    - Border Collie & JRT -- I think both are just as energetic
    - Toller
    - Australian Shepherd

I was going to say Border Collies, but yeah, Jack Russells (or are they called Parson Russells now?) are up there too.

My number one choice:  Wirehair Fox Terrier.  They are pretty bouncy!

According to my mom and brother it's Boss! I think probably a good share of the terriers are.
