Saturday Chat.

Amanda... haha. I'll laugh at him for you, but only because I have had to call someone to drive a jeep for me. In my case, I couldn't get it into reverse. I offer as excuses though that I hadn't had it for very long, and I had some issues with my wrist. I went out shopping and couldn't get it into reverse to get out of the space. I had to get my mom to come and back it out for me. I couldn't go forward over the curb because it would have meant driving over the curb and into a major road. I have to say I never had roll back issues in that car, because it was so loud and vibratey (I think I made that up right now). I could hear the engine and see it vibrate that I could see and hear when it would catch when someone else was driving it. It was a nice car to teach other people to drive. I don't think I'd be so successful in the Aveo.

Just a tip to all you parents, if you have a babysitter and will be late, please call, text, or something, and let the babysitter know. I was babysitting for a client along with a friend. We were told to expect them around 11:30. They didn't get back until around 12:45. Same people were at an event Thursday night, just across from their house at high school. It ended at 8:00. They didn't get back till close to 9:00. The week before I was told 8:30, which happens to be what time the kid gets his seizure meds. I can and have given him those, if they are left out for me to do so. I called at 8:30, but his mom's phone was off. I gave it another half hour, and made the kid stay up, even though he wanted to go to bed. At 9:00, I had to call his dad to find out which ones to give him so that I could let him go to bed. So, just to reiterate, if you are going to be late, let's agree on more than a half hour, please call the babysitter. I really prefer not to bother you for things that aren't serious, and in most cases, and I don't want to make you feel like you have to leave right now. What time I get home isn't really a big deal if you don't care about me sleeping on your couch for a bit, and especially, at this house, since you don't care about me bringing my dog. I just want to know if you're still alive so that I know if I will be staying the night.

On the drive over, I was fully prepared to make fun of DH mercilessly, but when I got there & saw the embarrassed look on his face, I decided against it.  When I got out of the vehicle, he smiled & said "You don't know how glad I am to see you, & how glad I am that you didn't drive the card."  (The car is a standard.)  I'm so glad that he's mine!

Awww Amanda, you are such a nice wife for not rubbing it in, I bet he appreciated that, even if he was expecting your comments. Were the boys as nice to him?

Pittsburgh is very very very hilly.... to the point that some roads close in the winter since it's too dangerous.... so even my MIL who has driven stick shift for many years, won't attempt it here.  We've had to plan our route coming home with deliveries and such to be the least inclined.

Apparently, the boys were nice to him as well.  He said that DS1 offered to drive for him, but DH declined.  He said that he knew that DS could have driven it, but that he knew that I would have been pissed for letting him, & that DS would have never let him live it down.  To be honest, I would have been pissed, & I would have never let DH live down the fact that the 11 year old had to drive for him.
