Cher & I went to training this morning. She loves to track, & it shows. Our TD is very complimentary of her tracking. She was having focus issues today during obedience. If it weren't a little frustrating, it would have been funny. I could just see her talking to herself during our heeling work. "Fuss, fuss, fuss, OH MY GOD A SHINY THING!!!!, fuss fuss fuss...."
Protection sucked. We are working with a new helper, who is not very experienced. Every time that we work with him, I remind him that Cher leads with her mouth, not with her feet like our gsds, & mals do. Today, I reminded him, we backed off, & she went in for a bite. She was amped up & she went in hard, & he wasn't ready. He jammed her, & she came off the sleeve, & landed flat on her back. I nearly had a heart attack, because I was sure that she was really hurt. I've never been so relieved to see her come flying up off the ground & make a grab for the sleeve. She was still ready to go, but I put a stop to it so that I could ream the helper. Before I had a chance to say much to the helper, our TD came out to handle it himself. The guy claimed that the reason that he jammed Cher was because he didn't realize that she didn't lead with her feet. Even though I had warned him right beforehand. I was even more pissed after the excuse, as was our TD. He ended up jamming one of our Sch II dogs later in the day, & at that point he was relieved of his duties....permanently. I could not be happier.
