Don't you find it especially hard to understand why anyone who rescues a dog would then allow it to have an accidental pregnancy? I just find that mind boggling but I've seen it a couple times on the ustream videos. "Watch our rescue chi give birth to chi/pug puppies

I don't understand it, because it's not an accident. They did it on purpose, period. They probably "rescued" their Chi from the PET STORE, too. Wink

Or the "rescue" isn't really a rescue.  All too common these days, unfortunately.

I just stay the heck out of Craigslist pets section. It's just not good to be there.

I just realized on my way back from lunch that I am actually attempting to make myself anxious. I caught myself trying to raise my heart rate, and hyperventilate, If I didn't have to work tonight, I would just sleep the rest of the day away so that it would be impossible to do this. At the very least, I think I might just go to sleep for a little bit right now.

LOL, Tina you sure can find 'em ;)  Give Agnes some skritches from me.  You have been absolutely the best Mom for her.

So I thought I was making progress on this divorce...but talked to the lawyer today and found out that STBX gave her the wrong paperwork.  I TOLD him way back when he was first supposed to be served (before the whole Dusty/Pooch ordeal) that after he got served he would need to go to the courthouse and get a Compliance form, make a copy, turn it in and give a copy to the lawyer.  I told him this (and his was response was that his g/f could help him, b/c "she's going to be a lawyer"  um...I've met her...no one with a brain would hire her, even if she could get a law degree online).  But what does he do?  Signs the papers he was served with and gives those to the lawyer.  So now my lawyer has left him a message saying that he turned in the wrong papers and requesting that he call her back.  Who knows how long that phone tag game will last.  She said if he doesn't give her the right papers we can go forward but it will delay things by a few weeks :(  OMGG!!! I just want to be done with him!  This whole process has just been a comedy of errors.  Too bad it quit being funny several months ago.

Deb, FH got the cutest picture of Dusty.  I wanted you to get to see it:

woo day 39 of p90x, today was yoga, not my favorite but I got through it, 2nd morning where the BF decided he'd rather sleep in. Then thinks I'm mad when he gets up, trying to make it clear to him that it's his choice to workout, he reaps the benefits, not me, so it's really up to him.  Bella was all up in my yoga this morning, trying to get under me during plank LOL. then stretch, pet the dog, stretch, pet the dog.

Let Zoey & Bella out last night ( since the chickens were sleeping) to run around the back yard, what a huge case of zoomies, and it lasted forever!! Learned the hard way that Zoey's recall right now just plain sucks!! But she is at that age of 'ooooh so much more fun things to do than to listen to mom!!!' running around the yard hunting for chicken poop & other stinky things. She didn't go bother the donkeys though, so that was good.  I was suprised she had so much energy, I took her out for a good 45min to an hour on skates - I didn't 'make' her run, just let her run when she wanted and walk when she wanted. had lots of breaks too. She did better about some of the cars that drove by, but she's a sucker for big trucks - complete melt down every time.

Brought out my treats and Bella proved she had a spectacular recall LOL She's proving to be a good crossover dog. So thinking up ways to add distraction to Zoey's recall - I mean if I'm at the house, or the office, no problem nothing really better to do. Trying to figure out how to transistion it to outside. So this morning I walked to work on a long line. Waiting til she got distracted then called her back. Alot of the times she just chose to walk next to me as usual, even though she had a good 20' of leash.

whoops, supposed to be not dog related huh? LOL

Been itching to sew some stuff lately. Gotta figure out how to use up all the supplies I have, since i can't really buy new stuff right now.

found out I inspired a friend in Texas to start working out today, she IM'd me to let me know that she started a week & a half ago & is feeling really good about it. She said the pics of my progress really inspired her. So that felt really good.

Been reading 'mine' by jean donaldson, trying to figure out how to apply it to the crate aggression ( its funny though that she really only does it in one crate now) that book kinda makes me feel stupid!! I know I'm going to have to reread it a few hundred times before it'll makes sense.

** Zoe bug was barking at something, I look at the window just now, and my co-workers friend & his son are goofing off out in the parking lot, pushing each other around on a cart we use to move equipment out to the truck & trailer. LOL funny, I'm not talking like a young son, lol his son is like 22 or 23, and dad is it least 50 and HE's the one being pushed on the cart

(happy dance) The woman who will be taking over my job after my move arrives on TUESDAY!  I was chatting about some stuff related to her arrival with my boss and that made it actually seem real finally.  If all goes as planned I can have a normal schedule (i.e. M-F 9 to 6 instead of T-Sat and some nights until 9pm) for the last 2 weeks at this job and classes will start being taken over by the new girl starting at the end of this month.  It'll be soooo nice to have someone to share some of my responsibilities with for the next 8 weeks or so as i'm feeling pretty burned out. Smile Plus I'm getting excited about the move.

    Yeah, I've still got it.

Me too!!  Except I usually can't remember where I put it, and if I could find it I'm pretty sure nobody would want to see it anyway.

I woke up this morning to howling winds and realized the umbrella came flying out of the table and was totally blocking the doggy door.  That's about the last thing I wanted to dash out into the patio in my jammies and robe to deal with, but I did it anyway. Max was sitting on the floor while I was getting dressed this a.m. just staring at the ceiling.  Seems the light from a mirror was reflecting up there, and that's when I noticed that he's getting gray hairs around his muzzle - more noticeable because his muzzle is black. Sad My puppy is becoming and old man - he just turned 6.

re: craigslist... I used to check Petfinder and craigslist for Dobes when I worked in rescue, because even if I didn't, I'd get messages from our members.  It was easier to head them off and investigate on my own.  People do some jacked up things with their dogs, it's true.

re: "rescue" dog giving birth - smacks of someone taking the dog their sister/cousin/whatever didn't want and calling it a "rescue", so, I wouldn't necessarily assume a rescue fell down on the job and adopted the dog to irresponsible people.  However, these are clear examples why plenty of rescues insist on spay/neuter, no matter if it's a pediatric spay, before puppies are homed.  Was just talking about how bad early spay is today (I own the results of an 8week old spay), but *this* is why some rescues just feel like their hands are tied into doing it.

Stacey... it's always men who do the peeing in random spots, isn't it?  I hear of laundry baskets, closets, washing machines... you'd never see a girl pull down her pants to squat over the laundry basket!  We actually wake up before we pee!

My parents bought a brand new loaded Mustang Convertible (I completely gave them poop for not buying a GM!!).

      At least it's American?

Temp agency called - hiring guy not ready to do anything yet, out of town Fri & Mon, so they told him they're not stringing me along anymore and will set me up for other jobs while he waits.  Hmm... ok.  Anyway, off to the dry cleaners.

Paige, you sound sad. Screw dry cleaning, I made cookies. Come over.

That's great news.   I hope the next 8 weeks fly by for you. :)

Steph, that sucks about the STBX and the divorce papers.  The 'S' in that abbreviation seems to stand for "someday" instead of "soon".  Love the picture of Dusty doing her imitation of me on a Sunday afternoon. lol

Put in an ap online for Lowe's today.  Man, that's a screwy system they've got.  And, followed up with a phone call to the store to let them know that I'd really like to get an interview.

I have some serious concerns about feeding the critters, putting gas in the car, little stuff like that.  I guess to get any kind of cash assistance or medical help, other than the clinics who help, you have to have kids under 18.  Sigh.  They won't let me count the dogs.

Glenda, don't you and Todd both qualify for unemployment benefits???

    • Gold Top Dog

Unfortunately, no.  We both worked as independent contractors.  Won't make that mistake again.

Thanks, Meg, I'll take cookies.... especially the *virtual* kind that won't contribute to my thighs.

Dry cleaning was just a winter coat - and the drycleaner is not even half a block away from my house.  The post office, however, is about 5 blocks and of course I waited and now it's sprinkling and chilly out.  I was going to take Gracie with me.  She hates the rain.

I have found there was some old accounts on my credit report that weren't closed, so I've been addressing them today, and talking to a financial advisor at USAA.  I love USAA so much.  Meanwhile, Comcast has had me on hold for 24 minutes.  Hooray!  Still no award letter from the school - it's been 2 weeks - so they're getting a call if this one ever ends.  And now I feel like a dummy because I've had the phone held up to my ear for the last 25 mins, when I just remembered I have a speakerphone on this Blackberry!  D'oh!

Edit - I hung up on Comcast when it reached 35 mins on hold, then called the school and was stuck on hold w/them, too... however!  Good news!  Award letter was issued 4/27 (hasn't been fwd'd to the address here, yet, tho), and I have checks waiting for me.  Woohoo!  Just gotta do a little hoop jumping and they'll send me the checks.  Phew!  Feeling better.

    • Gold Top Dog

Paige - that's fantastic news!! Worth some hoop jumping too. Sorry about Comcast. I've spent way too much time on hold with them too. At the actual office here, the have the desk help behind bullet-proof plexiglass. Hmm

I'm beyond ready to go home but both of my bosses just came back from a meeting and then went to get something to eat. I would've left early today since I didn't get out at lunch but I hate to just leave a note and go, plus I'm not sure either of them have the key to the office with them. :(

On a sad note... I just read about Talus. RIP :(
