    Just another Mindless Monday

The kids were supposed to have this day off, but they're in school to make up the snow day...WHEE! After this weekend I needed them to be in school LOL!

The sleepover went great I think...believe it or not only ONE girl showed up out of 4...one cancelled at the very last minute, I was disappointed at first but once she got here I was kind of glad LOL.

With just the one we altered the plan a bit and instead of staying at home...we went out ice skating at the mall. The friend had never been so that was really cool. Lily was TERRIFIED but tried to be brave in front of her friend. At the end of a couple hours she was no longer crouched over but did NOT let go of the wall LOL.

I hadn't been on skates in forever but it came back....we had fun! Then we hit the bookstore for a couple things I needed then came home. They started up with the manicures and whatnot and that was SO MUCH GIGGLING I almost ran away. But, they got into the Wii a bit after that, and I popped them some popcorn and they enjoyed that.

Then came the endless night...dh and I hit the sack at 1:30am or so...no IDEA when/if they slept. But it was a fun if very very LONG night. Both girls got along great and she went home very happy and excited.

    Yay me!

I needed ALL SUNDAY to recover...but here we are on Monday....my birthday is SATURDAY...and I am eyeing this big stack of presents on the table, I shouldn't..should I?

I'm so beat.  Our club had a big weekend.  I took Nikon down Sat afternoon.  We spent the night there but only got 4 hours of sleep b/c we talked until 1am and then they wanted us up at 5am for breakfast.  It was a waste though b/c it poured all morning and we did not start tracking until 9am anyway.  Nikon did a BH but I also tracked and did protection not as part of the affiliation trial.  Our handler got to do ring training with a VA dog and our helper did bitework with the VA dog so that was a first for them.  This morning I am still tired from lack of sleep and working dogs all day Sat and Sun.  I got to work and realized I have two totally different shoes on.

I am in a foul, foul mood today.  It's pouring rain, the turnpike was backed up for miles, I am warring with Mr. W and I didn't hit one freaking derby horse.  Somebody put me out of my misery.

Have been hit hard this morning and guess we are going to have to apply for government assistance....as in welfare.  I just wanna crawl in a hole and stay there.

Folks I'm sorry everyone's in such a sucky mood -- but Gina telling about her survival of the "sleepover" really made me laugh so I'll try to make YOU guys laugh.

The thing with sleepovers, Mom- er Gina, is giggles are mandatory.  It's PART of it.  As is ... driving your parents nuts!!

The littlest "change" in usual procedure can delight.  We used to want to "camp out" (I am NOT an outdoorswoman, but all my friends wanted to do it).  But my mother didn't want to deal with that.  But she DID let us take "sleeping bags" out on the ENCLOSED & LOCKED front porch area.  completely enclosed.  windows, etc. -- but it 'felt' like outside.

True story -- overnights produce imps.  I was probably 15 or so -- and the "friend" I had over was actually my Dad's best friend's daughter (they lived far enough away so it was special to see her).

The day before was "clean the upstairs day" -- so Katie and I got to dust and change the bedding in my bedroom and my folk's room.  And -- we were just being imps and decided it would be 'funny' to short-sheet my mother's bed.  (she'd been teasing us -- which was typical).  Now this is back in Ozzie & Harriet days -- my folks slept in twin beds.  (*rolling eyes* I thot all of America did -- gee they did on TV!!)

Katie and I made up Mom's bed short-sheeted (You put the bottom sheet on normally- you tuck the top sheet in at the top just like it was a fitted sheet then fold the bottom up to the top and cuff that over the blanket like a normal top sheet -- but when they go to get in it they hit the fold in the middle?)

Remember -- I was 15 -- sex **particularly as it relates to PARENTS is just tooooooooooo ****EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW**** for words.

But of course, since we girls were "out on the front porch" my Dad picked that night to slip into Mom's bed to "wait" for her???

Let's just say there was no sense of humor in the upper story at all.  Well, until my mother started to LAUGH at my father (who was completely P.O.'d by this time because he couldn't figure out why he couldn't get IN Mom's bed) -- and the he thot SHE knew (she didn't) so my folks had this granddaddy of a fight over OUR prank.

No -- prank gone wrong.  but the WORST part of it was it brought me face to face with that completely UNACCEPTABLE mental concept that ... GAG ME ... my parents ... er ... um .... *I just decided die rather than SAY that*.

Katie thot it was ALL funny.  So Mom and Dad were ticked off at BOTH of us.

Looking back 40 years?  It's freaking hysterical.  But was was the last time I short-sheeted my parents bed.  LOL

What another dreary Moanday.  Started off bad here too, but today still has potential.

Gina, glad you are recovering from the sleepover.  best to work your way up slowly, next year there can be 4 girls and you will be better prepared :)

Lies, LOL @ the two different shoes.  Sorry you are so tired, hopefully you can relax and recover.

Glenda, sorry to hear about the troubles.  Still thinking good vibes for you guys, you've been thru so much the past few years.  You of all people deserve something good.

ETA -- Hey Deb, isn't this what the vodka and 2x4 were made for?  Sorry you aren't having a good start to today.  We had 8-10" of rain to drive thru this AM as well, and you'd have thought it was something folks have never seen before.

Best get a wee bit of work done today, I got hit with a meeting the second I walked in the door, where the boss-people wondered why I didn't have things ready for them that second when I just found out that second the meeting was bumped up a few hours.  Give me two minutes to breathe, people, and I'll get you your stuff.

Deb, go back home and snuggle with Jamison.  Sorry your weekend was so crummy. I guess you won't be wearing your 'love dress' for Mr. W tonight. lol

Glenda, you paid your share of taxes over the years, so don't sweat having to draw on some of that money.  Pride is a good thing but not to the point of making yourself miserable because you need some help.  Send me those bird pictures and I'll post them for you.  I never heard whether Amanda got the Corky videos I sent her.  She was in Houston and probably hasn't had a chance to do anything with them yet.

Our new employee showed up on time.  Good.  He was wearing appropriate clothing.  Good.  He had all the paperwork he needed to start.  Good.  You wouldn't believe how many new hires don't manage those three simple tasks on their first day.

Nice weather here this morning but our phones are ringing more and more as it gets warmer and more humid.  Rex came in yesterday evening limping.  He laid down and was licking a paw.  I looked and he had a little stick wedged in between his toes.  I was glad it was such an easy fix.  Belle decided that the aloe plant on the back porch would make a neat dog toy. :(  I saw her prancing around with something strange in her mouth and discovered she had pulled the whole plant out of the pot.  It's been sitting in the same spot unmolested for as long as I've had Belle.  Never say never when it comes to dogs. lol

Gina, I'm glad Lily had a good time. :)

Never say never when it comes to dogs. lol

Every time I "puppy proof" something Sam has previously gotten into, he finds something new.  It's a challenge to them, me thinks :)

Glenda, it's there when you need it, and it's temporary.  All of this is temporary.  Chin up, you're stronger than this situation.  Of all the tough stuff you've had to get through in your life, this is NOT going to be the one to bring you down.

I live across the street from luxury apartments/condos(?) with balconies that face our house.  Just like last year, someone lets their little furry black dog out onto the balcony to bark at Every.thing.that.moves.outside.  This is the city - we have people walking dogs, sign twirlers, and plenty of other movement on this corner.  Bring your dog back inside, or teach it not to bark constantly at everything.

Still waiting on the interview for the last job.  Probably today, but nothing is set, waiting on the hiring mgr to advise of his intended schedule.   and of course today is the gorgeous day where I'd rather be digging outside, but I need to be clean and ready to jet whenever they call.  No income for 2.5 weeks sucks.

I wonder how the wedding went for Susan's DS.

Deb sorry your weekend was a bomb

Thank you for my laugh of the day

It is another soupy hot day - just blech - storms are around - definitely hoping they start soon.

Bugsy had been so good in the last months that I completely forgot what an obstinate bull he can be. The last few days I have been reminded as to why obedience classes were so frustrating for me and the trainers

Oh and my hamstring feels awful today YOUCH!

edit: Paige thanks for the chuckle

    • Gold Top Dog

Paige - that picture is worth a thousand words - LOL

Gina - so glad the sleep over went so well. The first time I slept over at a friend's house, I ended up calling my parents to come get me. I might've been okay but the friend had a icky habit of sticking Vick's up her nose every few min's. It totally grossed me out and the idea of sharing a bed with her was too yucky.

Glenda - as others have said, you have no reason to feel badly about accepting some help right now. You and Todd are far from the slacker type and this is just a temporary thing. (((HUGS)))

Speaking of dogs, Sassy gave DH something to spend most of the weekend worrying about. He can't be 100% sure that she didn't eat any small parts when she tore into the motorcycle box. I'm pretty sure she only ate cardboard but with her, you never know. She definitely didn't eat anything big because we've been checking her poop all weekend Ick!

The wind finally stopped and it looks to be a gorgeous day. I only wish it weren't Monday :(

    • Gold Top Dog

That picture pretty much describes how I felt all last week lol!

Lies, I'm laughing at the different shoe situation. I can relate.

Sorry for everyone's sucky Monday. I'm actually well rested for once (yay for the memory foam mattress pad!). It's sunny and warm and my house is clean (for the most part). I do have an 8 hr drive ahead of me though with no sunglasses because my contacts haven't been delivered yet. Maybe I can weasel a pair of samples out of my eye doc before I go. I can't imagine driving 8 hrs with no shades!

I'm training our new co-op students in the fundamentals of temporary traffic control tomorrow. I feel sorry for them. It's boring stuff that they have to sit through. I try to make it as interesting as possible, but how interesting can an orange barrel be....really!

    (((GLENDA)))

Carpet has been steamed! I wish I would have used my unscented Mrs. Meyers - I let BF talk me out of it and the chemical smell of the other stuff bugs me. Ick. The dogs got booted to FH's parents so they wouldn't try to 'help' me clean.

I am so ready to be off of antibiotics - staying out of the sun is not my idea of fun.

    • Gold Top Dog
I'm still sending some "find jobs" vibes to you and Todd Glenda. As everyone else has said, you are more than deserving of the help, don't be afraid to ask for it!

Lies - LOL at the two shoes. Perhaps tomorrow you will walk out wearing matching ones :P

Gina - I am glad you survived the sleepover! I rarely hosted the sleepovers when I was a kid, I was always so envious of all my friends because their moms would host one, pretty much every Friday. We used to watch SNL and then film ourselves doing the skits. Somehow, I was always a cheerleader.

Well, I went to the store in hopes of finding a summery sweater or some capris, but I only found a new blouse. Then after I paid for it, I spotted some cute black patterned dresses with black shrugs to match - so I tried one on and bought it :) It will be perfect for a wedding shower or something this summer :) Now all I need are some cute sandals........hehehe.

Jackie, from yesterday:  ttfn = ta-ta for now (I got that from Tigger, you know, of Winnie the Pooh fame).

I took half a day off today to run the errands I didn't get done on Saturday.

Glenda, sometimes you have to ask for help and it's only for a little while.  ((Hugs))

Deb, sorry you're in a crappy mood.

Gina, glad you survived the sleepover.

Must work.  Half a day off puts me behind at least a whole day's worth of work.  The life of accounts payable.
