What have your dog(s) been mistaken for?

Just curious if your dogs breed(s) has been mistaken for something else. :) Of course Simba gets mistaken for a pure-pit all the time, while I think he looks a lot like one to me, at least, it's pretty obvious he's not a pure-pit.

Bc's or mixes. Not many people recognize them as aussies. I think its the merling that throws everyone off

Astra is always called a long haired chihuahua.. Confused

Jamison is a 13 inch beagle, and he's actually more like 12 inches from the ground, so everyone mistakes him for a basset.

American Eskimo Dog. That must have been a really big 'WTF' look on my face, considering Pirate is tan and white.

Kya has been mistaken for a cat.  O_o  Someone also asked if she was a boston terrier puppy when she was really young.

The cresteds, lol, where to start.  Hmmm, a hairless skunk, a hairless chihuahua, a dog with mange, a tiny pony, a papillon, and a tiny woodland fairy creature.  Big Smile

Patty & Molson, both Cocker Spaniels, have been mistaken for Cockapoos (Cocker/Poodle mix)...yuck.

The hounds usually are recognized...but RC throws people off because she is red and white...people say Bassett a lot...she looks nothing like one IMO. About a foot too short lengthwise, and not wrinkly enough LOL. Oh and the one I HATE is "is that a POCKET BEAGLE?"...no you cacadoodleheads, it's a BEAGLE.

Cleo? LOL...I get Saint Mix, German Shepherd Mix, and  WHAT IS THAT???

    A tiny woodland creature?  Cute.

People keep saying that Grady is part Shepherd.  I don't see it at all.

My favorite is people think that Aspen is a mini *gak* Border Collie.  I'm not gakking at the BC confusion but the mini part.  He's an overly big Papillon people. *head desk*

We had a fellow bird judge over to look at our birds about three or four years ago and he saw Sadie and said "is that a basset mix?" We were adamant that she was not, but then when he left, we really looked at her and considered the possibility that he might be right (apparently he is a dog judge of some sort too). We are now convinced that she probably has some basset in her somewhere. We just had never really thought of it before. She's definitely a hound, definitely a lot of beagle in there, but I don't think she's pure.

The shelter labeled Agnes as a husky mix when she came in. Even my vet laughed!

LOL, over the years I've gotten a few breeds with similar coats.  But, I've also gotten wolf and black bear. Yes, I'm just taking my black bear for a stroll down the streetZip it!

Finn was labeled as a German Shepherd/Lab at the shelter.  I don't really see either.  I think maybe lab because of his coloring, but I also think there is some basenji in there and maybe, maybe corgi.  He is just so small - about 28 pounds - and short - that I don't really see GSD or lab.

Considering Ari's breed is not really common, I never mind the mistakes :) The most common ones we get are:  black golden retriever (yeah....), golden/lab mix, black Irish setter (just as bad as a black golden lol), or setter/lab/golden mix. Or, we just simply get asked what type of mix she is. I enjoy it though, gives me an opening to discuss her breed with others!
