I'll share my own human medical experiences - when I was in college, I had my first migraine. I went to our health center, who said I should get an MRI, because late onset migraines are very rare and I might have a brain tumor. (!!!!) I rush off to get the MRI (not easy when you're at a rural school without a car), and they give me the results, which have a couple of notes on them - "small such and such," "amounts of whatever," etc. I don't know what they mean - holy crud, man, that's my brain!!!!! So I'm freaking out, so I take them back to the health center. Health center says, "Hmm, very interesting, well, it could mean anything, we can't really say." WTF?! So at this point I'm convinced I'm dying, and manage to overnight a copy of the MRI to my home doctor (whom I hadn't seen in years), who finally says, "Oh, that's normal. You're 100% fine!"
So the moral of the story: just because someone nonchalantly throws out terrifying possibilities doesn't mean that they're what's happening, or even likely. More likely the person is just thinking aloud and not paying attention to how their musings are scaring your pants off unnecessarily.
Fingers crossed for good news from the biopsy!!
