    Mindless Tuesday . . . It is Tuesday, isn't it??? Deb W.

Well, my town got slammed by the latest nor'easter that blasted us this past weekend.  At one point, I had no power and nine inches of water in my basement.  I lost my beloved beer refigerator and my hot water heater.  But on the sunny side, at least I didn't have a tree through my roof or crashed on my car.

On a happier note, tomorrow  . . .many, many, many Harps will be consumed along with a big fat corned beef sammie and this weekend is the seeing eye puppies !!!!

OK off to catch up and see if Mr. Jackie was able to come home for a while over the weekend.

Had another call about Otis last night from a lady in Maine!

I made a little ramp for Agnes and it seemed to help.  I will have to come up with something permanent, like maybe pavers, once the frost is out of the ground and I can dig.  Meg, not sure she'd leave boots on, she doesn't mind bandannas, but otherwise doesn't like being covered.  Paige, good suggestion about rubber bath mats.

I think my washing machine drain pipe has a clog - not the part coming from the machine but the pipe where the water goes out.  It backed up and spilled over when spinning out the water last night.  If I can't snake it clear, I guess I will have to call someone.  Oh joy.

All 4 of my bosses are here today, so I may be scarce.

HEY DEB, I ALREADY STARTED THIS THREAD. Okay, I'll have the mods delete mine.

Some days I don't know why I get out of bed.  Luckily, so far this isn't one of them! Devil

The soon to be ex wife is just rubbing my poor sons face in it.  She's moved the newbie in, she's boxing up what little DS had still in the apartment and trying to shove him and his stuff out the door.  And then she calls, whining and witching about what the dust is doing to her asthma......well, gosh, honey, no one ASKED you to do this, no one WANTS you to do this, and if you don't want DS calling the apartment HE is paying the rent on, because the new guy doesn't feel well and is trying to take a nap on the couch, then don't call up, scream and then hang up on DS.

Anyone live in upstate NY who's good with a 2x4?  Or a semi-automatic??  _________ ________ ________ ____________   _______________  (fill in the appropriate cuss words) worthless little cheating, lying WENCH!!!!

Opps!  My momma bear side is showing!  LOL!

Looks like we shut the radio station down on March 31st.  Good vibes for a job, real fast please!

But, the sun is shining and it's a pretty day.  Think I'll go down to the lakeyard and feed the ducks today.

Wow, Tina, Otis is so popular! Must be because you're such a great foster. Wink

Glenda, repeat after me: "At least he's not still stuck with her!" Your poor son. I think this falls into the painful life lessons category. May he move on quickly and find something way better, way soon. Also, really really sorry to hear about the radio station. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys!

Odd, unrelated question: can ducks be good pets even if they don't have a pond to swim in? BF wants to know, for some bizarre reason.

Does anyone know any good dog trainers in NJ?

Meg, hope you're feeling better today.

Amanda, hope Cher's healing up well.

    • Gold Top Dog

    I hope Otis gets adopted!!

Glenda - You are fully allowed to let your mama bear side through!  I hope your DS will be okay, something similar happened to Derek before he met me, and it's still rough sometimes.

Cita, When you find the answer, let me know!  I would LOVE a duck a a pet!!

I am feeling pretty good today, it's supposed to get up to 14 degrees here today!  YAY!

And I'm going pretty good with the wedding planning stuff, I *just* ordered my cake toppers:

And Derek and I have the cake tasting appointment on Friday (YUM!)  Though we are still unsure whether we want a cake, or cupcakes with a small cake to cut on the top.  As soon as I told him that we could get cupcakes, he was all for it, because I *am* the cupcake queen lol.  I love cupcakes sooo much and I make them very often lol  We will see though!!

Whereabouts in NJ? I really don't live far from some parts, and have some great places in PA that I go to.  I also have a friend in Central NJ, so I could see if she has any recommendations, but that could be a trip depending on the location you are talking about.

    • Gold Top Dog

The cake toppers are adorable!!  I like the cupcake idea sounds great!

Glenda, I feel for your DS I know this has to be hard.  If it were me i would tell him get your crap out and never talk to that biach again!!!!!!!!  Don't take her calls and move on.  It's not easy but the best thing to do is move on and move on quickly shutting the door on the posion!  I must have missed something I didn't know the radio station was shutting down,Angry shoot you worked so hard getting there, cleaning, setting up and everyday work -  What happened??

Our sumppump went crazy last night and wouldn't shut off.  I went into the basement and jiggled it and it stopped and when it started again it worked fine - I hope it holds out until this water stops coming in.Crying

Cody's biography presentation is on today and he is Benjiamin Franklin - he was in custome and he looked so darn cute this morning going to school.

I have a lot to do today for my travels next week, can't wait to get it over with and be back home.  I hate flying to the West Coast for just one day.

My job interview was canceled today. I'm fine with that, after the emails that have gone back and forth - I really don't' think I would want to work for them even if I was offered the position. The person I'm supposed to be interviewing with seems disorganized and a little too lax, particularly for the type of company they are.

I left my lunch at home AGAIN. I really can't afford to keep spending money on lunch at work. Plus, I can never seem to order anything HEALTHY when I get take out lol. I was keeping frozen meals at work, but I got really sick of them. Oh wait! I just remembered I have money left on a gift card for Panera. Wooo hooo, at least I won't be spending any of my own money on lunch today. Hopefully, the gift card is in my bag.....

DS doesn't want to be like me and my ex.....the only thing we still share is a passionate dislike of one another.  HE is trying to be his version of adult.  I'd like to shake him and tell him to be whatever he FEELS, but.....

According to what I've read, ducks can live perfectly happy lives without ever setting foot in the water.  Corky does not have a pond.  She has a large childrens pool and she loves it.  However, much of that is because she is not handicapped on water as she is on land.  Sounds like someone is getting a duck soon........they are WONDERFUL pets.

    • Gold Top Dog

A couple of our friends got some ducks, and made a video of the ducklings' antics - cutest movie EVER! Hence the question. Smile

So you all can share in the adorableness:

Michelle, I love the cake toppers!

Glenda, I think it's really admirable of your son to give civility a shot. Not that anyone would fault him for pulling a little 'tude, but he will probably look back and be happy that he at least made a bit of an effort. He can reassure himself that he at least tried to be the bigger person, as he pokes pins into his voodoo doll and throws darts at photographs of her face... Stick out tongue

Paige, how's your friend's dog doing?

I just read about Aesop's fur loss... poor guy! Hope the vet results come back with something helpful.

Tina and Deb sorry I wasn't around to delete Tina's MC thread - When i have full access I'll try to join the threads but we've had issues with that, sigh.

Up early and on the run.  Went downstairs to make coffee and Bugsy wouldn't go in the kitchen.  me thinking OH NO there is a SNAKE (the only thing that I have seen make him nervous, actually that was a skin, I digress) Nope no snake, just a pile of dog puke on the small rug by the back door.  No problemo Bugsy that is an old one!  His allergies are flaring along with everyone else's so I'm sure that's the cause.

    Major cramps today - yuck!

Dawn fingers crossed your sump pump keeps on pumping!

Mom made it home from PA to find half of her 50 yr old maple on the neighbor's fence - ACK!  My brother's chimney fell down in the storm. Crazy!

    OK back to the grind

Karen, Deb and I must have started threads at the same time and I thought I should defer to her since she does own that 2x4!  Whatever works is fine with me.

Courtney, don't know if the interest in Otis is due to my fostering capabilities or because he's little and cute, and who doesn't love little, cute dogs?

Parvo outbreak at our shelter again, so I'm glad he was out a week before it broke.  It's going to put a kink in the meeting with the potential adopter tomorrow.  We were going to meet there (neutral, no stranger at my home), but maybe it'll be okay if she comes to my home.  Confused

I haven't read this thread yet- or should I say these TWO threads yet - I just merged them.  It ended up with Deb's thread title.  Lol - sorry for any confusion.

Cita, I think it depends on the type of duck, of how necessary water is.

Lauren, I am in the same boat - I can't decided cake or cupcakes either! I am waiting for a call back from our potential cake baker lady - hopefully she responds soon. Oh and the cake toppers are really cute!

Glenda, I wish you so much good luck with the radio station. That's just plain old sucky. I can't even imagine what your son is going through right now - in time he will see he is better off though, I'm sure.

FH just had his appointment with the orthopedic surgeon here. To say it went poorly, would be an understatement. His original inclination that it was serious was right. He's torn his MCL and most likely torn his ACL and meniscus, they are scheduling an MRI to confirm this. For now, he has a giant knee brace that he has to wear for six weeks. They can't so surgery for his ACL and meniscus until his MCL has healed apparently. He just called to let me know he's gotten an appointment in a month with his old orthopedic guy in Toronto (we were concerned he might not be practicing anymore, blah blah, he was arrested about a year ago). Yay. This guy will refer him to someone who knows what the heck they are doing.
