Chatting on a Wednesday

Why oh why did I schedule myself a late call with a client? I could sooooo leave here early today if I hadn't, considering I worked 9.5 hours yesterday. *sigh*

I forgot the golden rule when playing with sticks with Ari yesterday. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR EYE ON ARI! She is a little over zealous and if you don't tell her some sort of command, she will jump at you and try to take the stick away. I had tossed one stick and THOUGHT she was going for it, so I turned to pick up another. Needless to say, stick, teeth and her head collided with my right hand. Nothing broken, but the top middle part of my right hand is forming a nice bump and starting to turn color. I'm also acutely aware of just how many times a day I either bump or brush my hand against objects *ouch*

Oh HArley, eek! don't do that!!

freezing cold here, I know I shouldn't complain, but its chilly with monsoon rain. boo. Donks wont leave the shelter, it leas they're smart enough to stay in it. Bella taught Zoey 'if its raining, sit under the tree,I dont know what that dog house over there is for' turns out she doesn't *like* the square dog house, and prefers the dogloos. sheesh, I'll have to move one to the front yard when it stops raining. Zoe is curled up in her ex pen as close to the heater as possible. she was soaking wet this morning.

went to HD to get a part so we can get our dryer back online last night. BF's car battery took a poo. and I tell ya those fancy cars do really weird things when the battery is going dead - clock was spinning backwards, light flashing & flickering. Called the roadside assistance, came out and gave us a jump, good thing that was it, that car costs a fortune to put in the shop.

dryer is back online though! yay clean clothes, almost 3 weeks without one I was running out of clean clothes! Also I FINALLY have an indoor shower!! cool huh?

Akry, you are MOVIN UP in the world, girl. LOL.

I wonder if the couple with the bathroom window deficiencies brought you the harness, Tina :)

I am thinking about walking up to FH's mom's and stealing her furminator. Pirate is a hot mess.

LOL!  I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have a Dachshund sized harness - they have 2 Dobermans!  The harness is gently used, but it was washed.

On another note, Meg, I was grocery shopping two weeks ago and ran across the DeLonghi espresso machine you were looking at online - it was on clearance for $50 and there were 2 of them.  Made me think of you and wonder if you ended up ordering one.

Boo is right and I swear the potholes are growing like weeds. I saw some today that were huge and just managed to avoid them. With my luck, I'll dodge a pothole and hit a parked car.

I felt like a total weenie at my dental cleaning. There's one area on my farthest back molar on the bottom that is hypersensitive to scaling. I've really had to white knuckle it thru that area the last 2 visits and was dreading it before I even got there. She tried using a souped up topical that they can inject below the gum line and it helped but not enough to make it pleasant. We both agreed that the next time I'll need to be numbed up on that side. She was sooooo patient and kind though and I thanked her profusely. She also chatted away about her 1 y.o. and 8 y.o. labs, so I thanked her for that distraction too.

Count me in on the gift basket thingy too.  It was pouring when I got up this morning although the sky is blue now.  Last night on the news the weather man was saying that we're still below normal for rainfall.  Say what??  How much rain do we need to be *normal*? It seems like we've had more rainy days than not for the last couple of months. I bought two bags of Star Burst jelly beans, but I'm making a real effort to stay away from all things Cadbury. I just need to make it through Easter and the after Easter candy sales and I'll be home free. Big Smile The next holiday will be Memorial Day and as far as I know, there's no special chocolate for that.

Harley!  You little stinker.  You really don't need to run away from Tina.  She's a wonderful lady who only wants to love & help you find a furever home that will love you like you deserve to be loved.  I hope that Agnes is okay after her little Harley chasing episode yesterday.

I'd love to be a part of a food being sent to Jackie.  I looked around a little bit for prepared food.  I found some but, as usual, I'm indecisive.

Aspen has an appointment with the chiropractor today.  We have an accupuncture appointment for next week.

Aren't we lucky to have "witnessed" and had some small participation in the pregnancy and birth of both of Jan's babies??  I mean, really, this is a community about dogs, but it really feels like a family.  I don't need 1-800-Flowers to get the "Warm Fuzzy Feeling" lol

flying visit - I will post tomorrow about a collection for Jackie and I am sure among us we can come up with a great way to spend it in a way that will be beneficial for her.

I have 26 minutes before having to leave again and I have a needy beast who can't stay out of mischief - I suppose I should be happy he is feeling so good

reminds me, yesterday I was reading something and it said instead of thinking about the things that are wrong to make a list of the things that aren't wrong.  I really liked that - I know it isn't any different than 'counting ones blessings' but for some reason it felt different.

OK best have a bit to eat before tonight's session

I will go in on feel better stuff for Jackie, too.

Paige, it does feel like family here.  I'm just really glad we weren't there physically for Willa's or Sonja's conception!  LOL

Side note: did Janice & hubby really decide to go with Sonja?

Update on Jackie & Charles in Spiritual Circle thread.

I almost lost the weiner dog last night on our walk.  Long story short, I got tangled up in the dogs and leashes, accidentally dropped Harley's leash, he took off towards home.  Made it across the street okay, but then a guy tried to catch him.  Harley was standing at my front door, guy grabs leash, I said "I live there" so he drops the leash.  Harley takes off to the neighbor's backyard.  I put Agnes in the house, go next door, the little weiner takes off across the street, nearly got hit.  I go after him, get his leash, now he's so freaked he slips the collar and heads back the other way, across the first street (I live near an intersection).  Guy who caught him first tries to get him, narrowly stops another car from hitting him.  Another guy gets out of car, Harley won't get in.  Six cars lined up at the intersection, 4  of us now trying to get him out from under the car.  Harley ventures out towards a lady who was trying to help and jumps up in her arms.  Thank God!

Of course, he did have time to roll in something stinky, so he got a bath last night, too.  I got up this morning and found a small dog's harness hanging on the outside of my front door.

Poor Agnes also got a long massage since I was half dragging her along nearly a block - she ran as best she could.

This morning's walk, not only did I loop a leash around Harley's neck, the end I was holding was triple wrapped around my hand.

    Whew!

I can just imagine your heart thudding to the ground when this happened! It's one thing when it's your own dog and you know how they will react, but it's another when it's a foster dog that you don't know that well yet! I'm glad that it turned out ok!

I just talked to Jackie, she is doing ok but does sound a little "UGH", you know? Like she's getting to the end of her staying positive, put on a happy face rope, if you know what I mean. Totally understandable.

I have training again tonight for Neiko. Thank god the weather is creeping back up toward 40. And we have had 2 whole days in a row with sunshine! yay.

I'm thinking that one of the prospective adopters for Sunny is thinking twice. I stressed to him how much work she will continue to need and he sounded a little wary. I'm not trying to scare people off, but I'm not about to sugar coat it either. I hope that I am doing the right thing. If you see her in her pics and video she looks cute and normal, but if you see her when she is leash reactive, woah nelly. It's scary and she does not hesitate to bite.

Yes, Julie, to put it politely, I nearly pooped my pants.

    Just read yesterday's MC thread.

Hugs to Tina. I only knew Bear through you, but just from your descriptions of him, I loved him too.

    Happy Belated Birthday, PurplePets!

Paige, your friend's crappy wife needs her a$$ beat. You don't talk about your kid that way.

Glenda, I'm glad to hear that your DS is doing better.

I am tired & seriously considering going to bed. I probably should have came home & took a nap but instead, I took Bev & Cher for a short hike. Then, we came home & took everyone out for a run. Now, everyone is tired, & sprawled out on the living room floor.

I was a little surprised to get home & find everyone in one piece. This was DH's first time staying home with everyone. Aside from Cher throwing up a sock this morning, everything seems to have went well.
