    My Poor Sally Girl.....

Sally had surgery yesterday.  She had a lump that was getting bigger on her back and a growth between her toes.  The vet said that since she's going to be 6 this spring it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a dental at the same time.  Her spay was no big deal to her and she's had stitches in a wound that didn't seem to bother her before.  Her stitches on her foot though REALLY bother her.

She was in a LOT of pain last night.  They gave us Metacam and told us that the pain shot they gave her should last until this morning so we didn't give her any.  At 2 am last night she woke up crying--she just kept crying and crying and wouldn't stop.  We gave her her pain meds and put Jack's cone on (she was trying to pull her foot bandage off).  She has never had a cone on before and starting freaking out.  It took about an hour to get her calmed down--she slept in between us last night.  DH took her to the vet this morning so they could keep an eye on her.  They gave us a better sized cone that she can eat and drink in and rebandaged her foot.  She seems in much better spirits today, but still not totally herself.  She has learned to lay in her bed with the cone on, which is a plus.  Jack keeps trying to bug her though.....

Soooo, Sally could use healing vibes as well as none cancerous lump vibes....

She has never had a cone on before and starting freaking out.

Poor Sally - sending good healing and no pain vibes to her. About the cone - is it a clear cone?? They can make a big difference because it isn't as visually restrictive and cause less stress for the animal. Hope she feels better soon! :)

foot surgery is the WORST.  Back when Muffin the Intrepid had his cancer surgery (they removed a 'bump' right in front of the prepuce area) and at the same time removed a weird toenail-like growth from the bottom of one foot.

Cancer surgery?  no biggie sed Mufferino.   But WHAD'JA CUT OFF MY FOOT WIF A SPOON FUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh... he had the WORST time with that foot.  he defeated every collar (including a Bite-not collar) that I put on him.

Finally, I just wrapped it loosely in gauze.  Put a cotton ankle sock over it.  vetwrapped THAT on.  Put on a sport sock over that ... vetwrapped THAT on (all the frigging way to his armpit -- very loose -- but very sticky vet wrap).

No "wrap" around where the wound was -- just two socks.  He finally gave up on it. The growth was nothing really at all -- but dang he was convinced it was worse that ternminal!!!  IT WAS HIS *****FOOOT****!!!!!

Sally, I had the cone head thing when Mom took me in for two different surgeries.  They make me look AWFUL. My vanity was at stake; I didn't even want to go outside to potty--someone might SEE me!

You will feel all better soon.  It really WILL help you get better!

Poor girl!!  It is so hard that you can't explain to them and have them fully understand what';s going on, especially with the cone :(

Derek and I had to years ago put a cone on one of his parents' dogs and it was the saddest thing, she sat for hours in the same position, looking absolutely terrified.

I hope Sally gets some rest and feels better!!!
