MC will you be my valentine?

Valentine's Day is such a funny holiday.  I listen to all my single friends complain about what a "hallmark" holiday it is every year, same complaining, different friends each year, then the couples, I either listen to their cute stories, or their "I'm going to act like it's still a crummy holiday even though I can't wait to celebrate it" stories.  People are funny.  Personally, I like any holiday.  FH and I don't really do a whole lot of big stuff to celebrate any of them, but we do always do cute, romantic "us" stuff.  It's nice.  I figure even if you don't have a SO, then perhaps you use Valentine's Day as an excuse to tell your friends how much they mean to you, have a special dinner with your best friend, etc.

Ok - who here knows about vacationing in the Carribean?  FH and I are looking at going somewhere there for our wedding/honeymoon.  I have been focusing on Costa Rica or Belize, but am open to other places as well.  St. Lucia has always interested me.  I want somewhere pretty with awesome snorkeling and hiking and some jungle adventure with critters and birds.   I'm pretty excited at the possibility of seeing a sloth in Costa Rica I must say.  We are pretty adventurous and wouldn't mind somewhere "off the beaten path".

Just got married in St Lucia last week...it is beautiful...lots of great snorkling, LOTS of tropical birds..lots of hiking...be careful, though...I've heard bad things about Sandals for weddings...Jalousie was where we got engaged, but, the food's awful and we kind of crashed a wedding there to get our own pictures and it looked unimpressive.  We got Married at Ladera...if you can afford it, it is definitely worth it..even if you don't, at least eat there...the food is the best on the island and their head chef, Chef Orlando Satchiel is a 2 times James Beard award winner and really nice guy (we met with him A LOT for wedding menu planning)...all in all, I have never been anywhere with more genuinely nice people...we obviously loved St. Lucia if we got engaged there, then came back to get married. If you have any specific questions/need contact numbers, PM me, and I'll get them to you.

How much do you want to spend? (Sorry if that's rude!)

There is this AMAZING place in Honduras called Barefoot Bay Resorts - they do weddings, the whole shebang, for around $15,000. That's 3 days/2 nights accommodations for 25-ish people, meals included, and all the wedding crap. I've almost got BF talked into it, minus the actual getting married part.

    LOL!

I am not sure how much we want to spend yet, that part is depending on whether or not we are moving this year, which we should know tomorrow when the realtor comes to look at our house.

I will check out both of those places though - Ladera and Barefoot Bay :)

I just figured out how to make custom ringtones on my iphone. Yay! I'm now changing all the other ringtones I had set up.

For now, I'm going to clean out the refrigerator and cabinets for any food item that is unhealthy and too tempting for me to keep around. The SO won't care, most of the junk he likes, I won't touch. Then, I'm going to make some chicken breasts and salad for dinner. Actually, I might cuddle with Ari a bit longer first Smile

Anyone have any good tips on what to eat before early morning workouts? I hate eating early in the morning, but I'm going to start taking a spinning class at 6am, and I'm thinking cardio on a completely empty stomach might not be a good thing. On the other hand, if I eat too much it'll make me ill.

I've heard bananas are good....dog bless you though...I don't even get up top PEE before 7am.

Sharon - I don't eat anything if I'm going to workout early. I always have my coffee, but nothing else. I drink Propel during my workout and that keeps me satisfied. If you find that you do need something pre-workout, you might try a banana, some nuts with cranberries, or one of the healthier breakfast bars.

Not a fussy Valentine's day for us. We exchanged cards and DH gave me some candy but he's more likely to eat it than I am :). We went to the gym and then to Home Depot. The weather is so springlike here that I wanted to buy a carload of flowers and come home and plant them but I know better. We came home and detailed my car. Man, it was nasty dirty. Then I made a huge breakfast and we settled in to watch the Daytona race. DH's best friend and some other guys have been in Florida all week for the races and I know that DH is wishing he could've gone too.

We're both off tomorrow and have plans to go see Avatar and grab some mexican food. I could easily get used to having 4 days off.

When I take my morning walks, I typically stick a Fiber One bar in my pocket.  That's enough without being too much.  Although walking is no where near as energetic as spinning.....

I was just cleaning out my closet and found a bag of about 10 books I haven't read yet.  Guess I'd better get cracking, lol!!  I think I should start with the two BF's mom let me borrow at Christmas so I can actually give them back to her!

THanks! I think I'll try maybe some bananas. I thought about sports drinks, but I don't really like any of them - though I bring them on hikes because I frankly sweat worse than any guy I've ever met! I'm going to TRY to get up early. In truth, it really isn't that much earlier than I already get up. I'm typically out of bed shortly before 6am anyway. Ari doesn't understand the concept of WAITING for the alarm to go off lol.

I wish I found unread books! That would be like Christmas for me.

One time at an auction, I bought a box of books for $5. I was thrilled beyond words. My problem is I read extremely fast.

Ah, that's the beauty of the public library.  I read 10 books every two weeks.  Don't let myself zoom through them since that would mean an extra walk to the library.....

    Big Smile

I joked with BF that it was my V-day gift to myself, lol.

Sucess!  I caught my mouse.  He's been released at the park.  Gosh, he was cute.

I'm going to curl up with my current book and some reese's cups.  :-D  Happy V-day!

I'm resisting the urge to get angry with someone right now, or at least to let her know that I am angry.

I was supposed to have a meeting tomorrow, which I probably wasn't going to go to because I was disregarded in the scheduling. It was canceled. The person canceling asked if we could reschedule for next Monday. I replied to all that I am out of the area on Monday afternoons (which is true, I work out of state). Someone else on the team, replied back that this was fine for her, and asked us to say whether we could do it. Umm... hello... the email where I said I am out of the area on Monday afternoons? Did that mean nothing to you?
