Even tho its only 2 am, Its officially sunday so I'm starting todays thread.
Happy valentines day!
So sat was something else. I can't believe I survived it!
First there was the sunshine emergency vet trip (her spay stitches came out and she was dripping blood all over).
Then I get the house all cleaned up and get packed. I go to the office to get the work car to drive to the detroit airport. About 30 mins in to the drive I stop to pee and realize that my drivers license is no where to be found! Assuming that the airline will not let me board without I'd, I race back to my house to find it. Upon arrival, I barge in to the house to find my dog sitter (who is a HS senior) basically having sex with his gf. HA!
I have no time to do anything other than to smile while they are scrambling to put clothes on. I find my license and run back outside. Only to realize I left the keys on the counter! Doh! I have to go back in the house. The poor kids were prob so mortified. I just laughed and said "have fun!" As I ran out the door again.
So now I have exactly 1 hour to get to detroit, park the car, take the shuttle, check in at the counter, get through security, race to the terminal and board the plan. Right. It takes about 70 mins to drive from lansing to detroit alone, forget the other stuff.
Needless to say, I broke many speed limits. In a state owned vehicle. Not smart, but it had to be done. I got to the airport and they were calling my name to board the plane as I was running through the terminal. Whew!
Have I ever mentioned that I'm petrified of flying and that I get motion sick. Not a fun flight. However, it went smooth and when I stepped outside, I took a huge deep breath of nice warm texas air. God. Warm air. Its been so long!
The story isn't done yet though. We go to the car rental place and apparently the car we reserved was no where to be found. So they were going to give us some puny nissan something or other. I made my feelings known, nicely, and we got an upgrade for free.
Onward to the hotel. By this time it is 1am. We find the hotel, not where the gps said it was supposed to be btw, and go to check in. Surprise! They gave our room away and have no more rooms! The guy gave some bs story which I didn't buy for a min and I gave him a boat load of unpleasantness in return. I. Was. Pissed. OFF. He wanted to send us back to the airport to stay at a sister hotel for the night and still wouldn't say whether they would honor our reservations for the rest of the week. He felt my wrath. Yesirree. My mom walked out of there laughing and actually felt sorry for the guy!
Luckily, I remembered a conversation I had with someone at work about the hyatt. So I called them up and asked for a room. "Rooms start at $269" ouch. I gave them my sob story and they were nice enough to match the rate we were supposed to pay at the other place $117. What a relief. This place is pretty swanky too. I feel like I should be in a prom dress just to go fill the ice bucket.
So, all in all, the hotel is much nicer, we are right on the river walk and I am right across the street from where the convention is on monday. It couldn't have worked out better :)
I wonder what tomorrow will bring. Oh yeah the rodeo with a fellow idogger! Yeehaw.
