"Froggy Style"?

    • Gold Top Dog
Tootsie will only lay froggy style! The other two never have done it.

I don't think the frog pose is necessarily a sign of good hips, just flexible ones.  The reason I say that is our dog Moxie, who has hip dysplasia, used to do that before she had her knees operated on.  Her hip dysplasia was such that her knees were malfunctioning and surgery was necessary.  Now, post-surgery, where they tightened up her joints, she no longer can do the pose.  She will, however, attempt it.

Lol Zoe does that, but Bear doesn't, and he has the straight legs of a chow.

pofi_pasquale:  He's 134 pounds.   I really need to get a pic posted but I don't think it will do him justice.    :)   Jules

here's one of Talus at 2 mths...just to tide you over until I get the
    new ones developed.....

Lisa Marie, that was my point totally.  It really makes me happy to know that Grrrrady is willing to give me his belly.  It means we've come a long way from him trying to be dominant over me.  We still have moments but I'm the alpha & he knows it, finally.
With that said, I found a picture of him going froggy.

ETA: t_m, Talus is just too cute!  He looks like a puppy with an old man's face.  I just want to smoosh his face & cover it with kisses.

Bailey and Skyler lay like that a lot.

Boss use to lay like that all the time, but since his front elbow has bothered him more and more I don't get to see frog dog much anymore.. now he will do it, but only one leg.

As far as belly rubs, that was something Boss and I struggled with for a long time but in the past few months he has begun to even roll on his back to sleep in my bed. This was something he would never do before. He would show his belly in an instant to dogs he was playing with, but not for me until I made it a part of training and even then it was few and far between. Now it is more and more every day. Definately a trust thing with him.

I've seen Gracie do frog dog once, but she prefers to lay on her side or back (anything for a belly rub).

Kota is the only one in our house that I've seen lay like that.  He also does the one back, one up or both back position.  I think he does it to cool off too.  After a day running around outside in the heat, he'll lay down on the cool tile in front of a vent.  [:D]

Lisa Marie- Zoey is getting along very well with Tank and Roxy, EXCEPT when a piece of food drops on the floor, then all heck breaks loose.  We are trying to be really careful about dropping anything and are working very hard on "leave it".  Thanks for asking!

oooohhhh, she is so cuuuttteee...I am glad right now Romeo, is busy barking at the cat outside, he gets so jealous.  I have never seen him do the froggy style, his is more laying on his back with his tummy exposed all the time and leg spread wide open, eyes rolled backwards, and tongue hanging out.  When he is not like that he lays on his side legs spread in front of him.  This is a picture of him a couple of months after I adopted him.

What cute froggy doggies!  Tootsie IS always frogging in every picture you post of her laying down!!  So cute!  And Skylar and Bailey have it down - they clearly look quite comfortable.

And Grrrady - he just looks downright 'dorable in froggy position.

Baby Talus would be irresistible in any pose, but that's really, really cute!

All but one of mine do the Frog Dog trick. Beau doesn't because he did have hip displasia.

I love the frog dog look. Too cute

My two Tzus lay froggie style too. They will also plop down so hard you can hear them on the hardwood floor.

olinda, I just want to rub Romeo's exposed belly!  Aspen loves to sleep like that.  He'll run to his chosen sleeping spot & immediately plop down.  No circling or fussing, just run/plop/sleep. :o)
