mindless hump day

Paige, I so hope that it's not cancer.  I've come to love Henry stories.  He sounds like such a fun guy.  Fingers crossed that he doesn't have another flare up, & that the vet is wrong.

Johnny, GREAT news about Tessy's crit!!!!!!!!

Paige, I hope it's not cancer.  I'll keep him in my prayers.

Johnny, that's great news about Tessy's bloodwork!!  I laughed about your slow computer being a prototype.  I'm old enough to remember seeing the huge monsters that had the punch cards when my DH was in college. lol  We've come a long way, baby.

ETA that the treadmill repairman is here.  lol  DH gave it his best shot but was unable to fix the darn thing.

Henry (sister's dog) might have cancer in his nose.  Need to wait for another flare-up (since things were pretty nondescript today), then they will take a biopsy.  Oncologist couldn't definitively say by visual inspection what it might/might not be.

:( - I so hope not. That's what our last lab, Jake, died of. What symptoms has he had that makes the vet think this? Jake had a bloody nose and I took him in thinking it was a foxtail. The vet could see a bit of swelling where the top of the nose and eyebrow meet and suggested a biopsy. It was heartbreaking news. I will definitely keep Henry in my prayers that it's something much less serious.

I spent about an hour playing an online word game that was about the level of a 6th grader. Oddly enough, I really enjoyed it though. Embarrassed

What symptoms has he had that makes the vet think this?

When we moved him from Seattle to Denver, within a day or two, we noticed the surface of one side of his nose was dried out like a foot pad.  He normally has a black nose, but this one side of his nose/nostril was really dried out (I even posted here about it, wondering if the change in climate just caused a dried out nose, esp since he was hanging his head out of the truck while I drove and I thought maybe he got a bug up there, or any number of things.  Gina reco'd a vet visit then, since it was only one nostril, but sister decided to continue waiting, since she wanted to take care of her elder dog's knee first.)  The interior of his nose, by the nostril, is a tad swollen, but no discharge, no blood.  It comes and goes - he can be super dry for a couple of days - it looks grey, flaky - then fine for a couple of days (like now).  I fully expect it to repeat this cycle, so it won't be long before it's back sufficient enough to get biopsied.  According to my sister, "(the vet) said with it being unilateral and no discernible swelling anywhere else on that side of his face made it a little more concerning, especially given he doesn't have more eye secretions on that side or anything that would indicate a blockage."

Now we wait for a flaky nose reappearance.  What was the name of the cancer that Jake had?

What was the name of the cancer that Jake had?

It was simply called nasal carcinoma. Based on the biopsy, they could tell it was very aggressive and sure enough, it was only a couple months before we had to let him go. He was only 7. The signs were completely different than what Henry has though, so I'm going to keep thinking positive thoughts for him.

I kid you not, I had the exact same thought today!  It was 25 degrees, icey winds, and snowing at the time...but it was still light out!

Lies, how did it go at the doctor's today?  Feeling alright?

Amanda, I LOVE your new siggie, lol!!

I am having major struggles of executive function today. Several times, I set my phone down somewhere, then a minute later, forgot where I put it. I went to get my phone just now, then I saw some paper towels from my car that I wanted to put with the stuff to go to the new one. I put the phone down, took the paper towels to go put them with the stuff. I went back up because I knew I had been there for something else. I just stood there, because I had no idea why I was there. That wasn't the first time today that I did that. It's days like this though, that I want to be back on an ADHD med. I can do better than this without it though. A little bit of caffeine would help some, I just don't know what is an amount that will help, and what is too much, and will render me nonfunctional.

    Well thank you, Heather!

It's been gloomy & grey all day, but this evening it cleared off & we had a gorgeous sunset.

I made lasagna tonight, & miraculously didn't screw it up.

I'm watching the State of the Union address.  Confused

I am not watching the state of the union. I bought This Is It yesterday, and am watching that.

Yeah, best case scenario.  We decided only to do the one large mole, which thankfully is the kind of mole that's already hanging off your skin, so no digging or stitches.  Not even the kind of mole that has to be sent to the lab.  I wore a baggy t-shirt and big hoodie so it's not rubbing, and will probably just wear a sports bra for a few days (it was right underneath where a regular bra clasps in the back).  I wasn't sure how long I'd have to wait at the Dr. office so I took the afternoon off.  I only waited about 15 minutes but I went home anyway instead of back to work.  It was really warm here over the weekend (like 40 degrees) so all the snow melted and exposed poop.  Then it got frigid again so I used my extra time to clean up the poopsicles.

Glad to hear it was a fairly simple procedure!

Totally random, but I find it interesting when an ex-boyfriend friends you on Facebook, and you see that they've gotten fat and bald.  I can't help but feel slightly relieved, lol.

    Math for today:

No nap + going to bed 1/2 hour late = zonk

Fat pregnant lady + belly full of warm, freshly baked brownie = happiness

Don't worry, there won't be a test tomorrow.

THANK YOU everybody, for being the crew we can count on in times of need, sorrow, joy, and anything dog (or non-dog) related!!

First of all, amen to this, Paige.  I've gained so much strength from everyone here.  First & foremost, I got the strength to do right by my girl.  For that I will be eternally grateful.

Amanda, I hope your day is better than yesterday.

Good vibes to all that need them & **HUGS** for everyone.

Paige, thanks for asking.  I'm slowly getting back to normal whatever that is.  Random memories come back & either make me cry or laugh.  The boys are getting used to a Magheeless life.  Aspen was very sad for a while.  I've been trying to keep him busy or at least do different things.  Like today he & I went to an outdoor mall with a gf & her grandbaby.  We all walked around & when it came time to go into a store, I put Aspen (aka THE Peanut) in the stroller & in we went.  It was kind of funny.  People would look at both of us with our respective strollers & do a double take on my stroller.  Aspen was a dream.  He was so quiet & patient.
Grady seems to be relieved in some ways that Maghee is gone.  He is taking over her vocal tendencies.  Right now it's funny.  Once we're finished with his training for reactive dogs, I may try & freeshape 'sing' since he likes to sing.

Every day is a new adventure.
