    Mindless Chat Frigid Frozen Sunday

Holy cats!  Went out to the RV this morning to get a creamer from that fridge......the ground is frozen.  I think I broke grass when I walked...heard something crunching!

At 5:30 this morning the temp was 20 degrees, with a 12 degree wind chill.  At 7:30 it's still 20 degrees but the windchill is up to 13.  Ummm, hello??  Ths is FLORIDA????  My weeds are actually dying finally.  At least ONE good thing is coming out of this cold.  I won't have to pull the weeds out of what USED to be my flower beds!

I believe that I'll put warmer temps on my birthday list.......shoot, that's not until near the end of the month...maybe I'll actually get that wish!

OK, on the bright side, we do have beautiful clear skies and lots of sunshine.

Corky is roaming around the dining room at the moment since the dogs are all still in bed.......

17 degree's here this morning. Brrr......

Sunshine? Clear skies? What is this myth you speak of?

    I need coffee.

    That is all.

ETA: BTW Mrs. Glenda.....are you following me around the forum and cutting in line to post before me to ensure that there is no double post again?? (just kidding)

It's not as cold here this morning.  Twenty four and clear skies.  Plenty cold enough for me though.  I slept super late for me, almost 7 before the smell of coffee woke me.  I stayed up late watching the Cowboys beat the Eagles.  Serves the Eagles right for hiring Michael Vick.   The Boys looked pretty good and Romo really surprised me.  I am not usually a fan of Romo or the Cowboys for that matter but DH will never quit loving his Cowboys.

I'm hoping for good news today for someone.  Or any news.

I would like it to be 20* please !

Right now, it's 6* with a wind chill of -10*

Just a couple more days..........the jet stream is moving and things will warm up Smile

I've had 5 days off....and I don't want to go back to work Stick out tongue

Not sure of the temp here but it was cold enough I had to sprint to the end of the driveway to empty some compost.  Maybe I shuold of put some pants on instead of shorts.  Gotta love the tea!

Yeah, I watched that game in hopes maybe someone would break his neck.  :((  I never get what I want!  SOOO Freakin glad the eagles are gone though.

The nephew wants to come over and play some ping pong so I guess I know what I'll be doing today!

    Have a great day all.

I think its supposed to be warmer today. I haven't checked the temp yet though. Maybe I shouldn't. Ignorance is bliss right?

I have sar training today. We are doing a building search, which neiko has never done. I really hope that he doesn't crash and burn.

The bones in my face still hurt like hell. I'd rather just go back to bed then go spend 6 hrs in the cold. The bldg is abandoned and not heated and no doubt filled with homeless trying to get some shelter. Boy will they be in for a surprise when a bunch of dogs come charging in.

I really hope you get to feeling better Jewels. And the building thing sounds like a good reason to bring an extra tub of coffee and some donuts to give to the homeless that you find. If there are none, more for you.

Nope Dawn.  Not stalking you, I've got this mind reading thing going on and when you're ABOUT ready to start a MC thread, I jump in and beat you to it!  LOL!

Ummm, I forgot it's day 4 of the egg laying cycle.  And I forgot that Corky usually deposits said eggs in the mornings.  She left me one on the rug on the dining room floor!  I guess she appreciated the little freedom romp!

    • Gold Top Dog
Lol what would we do without the daily corky updates?
    • Gold Top Dog

She is SUCH a little character!  I so enjoy her.  That was way more than a fair trade!  She got her life and I got such a delightful little friend!

We set up her smaller pool in the garage so she could have her daily swim.  With the doors shut, and a couple gallons of hot water added before she jumps in she doesn't get too cold and doesn't have the wind chill to deal with.  I know that ducks don't HAVE to have access to swimming water, but MY duck loves her time in the pool.  She was getting cranky about NOT having it!

It's 16 degrees and clear skies here in NJ.  DH and Cody are on there way to visit some friends who are ice fishing.  Cody love sto hang out on the ice and fish.

Glenda,  Corky stories always bring a smile to my face. Big Smile   When I was around 8 I had a pet Duck named Elvis.  My Grandfather plucked him out of an broken egg after something grabed its mother the night before down at the lake.  I remember my GF dipping the chick underwater to get the aunts of him and handed him to me and said, here take care of this little guy! :)  Elvis thought I was his mother!  He use to follow me around quacking like no tomorrow.  I use to get yelled at for allowing him to much freedom around the house because he WAS a little pooping machine.  Wink

Why am I picturing you finding said egg with your foot?

    • Gold Top Dog

Luckily no.  After I put her back in her crate I remembered and went looking with my EYES.

Yes, ducks are poop machines!  And when she's in a laying cycle she REALLY has soft poop, at least part of the time.  If she goes on the hardwood, no biggie, if she goes on the area rug, well, no biggie then either.  I just pick up what I can and run the carpet machine over it later on.  As many critters as I live with, I've really had to develop a "sh*t happens attitude!  However, I've had that for most of my life......

It is 6* here at the moment. I am not sure of the wind chill, does look mostly calm. Night before last when I got up in the wee hours to let Gobie out to potty, it was -20.. not wind chill but the temp! Today, need to finish laundry, take trash to the curb, try to keep house clean, because it's on the market now (not that I needed anything else to stress about!). DH has 17 weeks of deployment left. I dont' think I'll start counting down weeks until it's in the single digits. For now 4 months sounds shorter than 17 weeks. Kids and I are still hanging in there. One day at a time, one minute at a time. The separation has been hard on dh and the kids and me, and it just seems to drag on and on. Although for me, January has been a slow month as it is. Dogs are fine. Never did get to take Gobie in for his bloodwork and the overnight pee/poop issue because of the latest storm. Going to try for this week sometime. He was up overnight with diarrhea in his crate- and he tries to bury it with his blanket and tracked poop all over his pillow, ick. I think probably it was my fault, I gave him a raw ckn wing. I don't think his body handles raw anymore at all. Not even a little bit. That's all from here. I should fix the beds, but I'm comfy right here!

Corky sounds fantastic Glenda!   I love hearing her stories Big Smile

I was cold when I woke up to this morning, so I had vegetable soup for breakfast along with a nice hot tea.  It was all very warming.  I am off to clean my house today, it sure needs it!  Then I have to help FH make egg food for his birds and I think we will make a large batch of spaghetti sauce too.  I spent last night taking down the Christmas tree, well putting away the decorations, the tree......well we tried, but can no longer open our front door with all the snow that's there - the snow is up to our waist.  The tree will have to be dragged and put out the side door I guess.
