Mindless Chat Frigid Frozen Sunday

    • Gold Top Dog

The Weather Network says 9* , feels like -0.       -0?  Is that somehow different from +0?  You Ferenheit people boggle my mind.  Seriously, celcius is just easier folks.  0 is 0.  (as it is in F too, I'm sure) but in C, Above 0 is above freezing.  Below 0 is below freezing.  So in Celsius, its -12 today but feels like -18.  THAT  makes sense to me.

NW Ontario doesn't seem to be getting much snow this year.  Its made for some really good ice though, and hopefully that means a longer ice fishing season.

I had a blast from my past hit me in my face last night.  Thankfully he didn't stay long, but it didn't stop me from dreaming about him when I came home.  You know those kinds of dreams you don't want to wake up from, but when you do, you go,"Oh!  Ugh!  Gross!"  Its amazing how some people can have such a lasting effect on you.

I have a really itchy scalp.  Does anyone know what can get rid of that?  I also have a nervous habit of scratching my head, so I think I make it worse.  And no, I don't have any buggies.  Just had my hair done, and I think my niece would have noticed that...lol.

    I want a duck.

    That is all.

For itchy scalp: DH uses aloe on his head in the shower after around of Selsun Blue and swears by it.  I use a tea tree oil infused shampoo and shea butter conditioner left on for 3 minutes and love it - smells much nicer than DH's version and less chemical filled lol. I've also heard a humidifier will help.

It's 34 here, feels like 30.  Still about 15 degrees cooler than normal, but not too bad.

Looks like DH and I will have some big news on Friday (good news) - stay tuned for more at the end of the week!!!

Fish oil! Same thing as the dogs. I've  gotten really dry, lately, too.

I would like you all to know how hard it is not to baby a confused Chinese Crested. Like, nearly impossible. I had to change my ringtone, last night, because it stressed her out that Emma didn't come running to answer the phoneSadSad

Friday? That'a a loooonnnngggg time to wait. Can you give us a few hints?

Cold and foggy again here today. It'll be like this tomorrow and then Tuesday we should get some rain for a couple days and then back to more fog. I'm watching the Baltimore - Ravens game and I know it's freezing cold there but they have sunshine.

I don't like the Cowboys and don't really care about the Eagles by my BFF's husband is a diehard Eagle's fan, so I was sorry for him that his team lost. The Eagles looked pretty sad though and didn't put up much of a fight.

Tomorrow is the start of our 2 day conference and I have to be there at 7 AM. I hope I have everything organized well enough. The 1st couple hours are usually the most stressful but it's always great to see people that I only see once a year. We have a dinner tomorrow night but they tinkered with the agenda and ended the meeting part of the day at 4. I know that for the people staying at the hotel, that's not big deal. They can go take a nap or whatever for 2 hours, but I decided that I'm going to come home and skip the dinner. I haven't told my boss that yet, but I doubt he'll mind.

Friday's a long way away huh?  I've been waiting since about August to share what I think I'll be sharing Friday. Stick out tongue  Not many hints, but it does not involve puppies or babies. Smile

OK -- I think this picture tells the whole Floooor-daa story.  This was takenat the Panera Bread up at the corner (about 1/2 mile from my house)  at 8:00 a.m. when my husband went to work:

You can see the water still "running" but the little icecicles pointing sideways?  Yep -- such is the confusion in Florida!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Thats a  cool pic Callie.  Gin has one up on her FB of some Florida Ice craziness too.  I'll take my fluffy white stuff over that crap anyday though.  It might be pretty to look at, but for those that have lived through a real ice storm, it kind of loses its appeal.  Our Ice Storm was nothing compared to the one in Southern Ontario a few years back, but it still causes some huge problems for everyone.

I put up a hammock in the girls room for their stuffed animals.  Whoever said those things weren't alive, never seen them multiply.  I've got no idea where the heck they all came from.  We'll have to weed through them and find a few to give away...maybe the dogs could destuff a few.  I'm not sure that's a good idea though.  I don't want them to think they can destuff any of the girls stuffies whenever they come across them.  I wonder how I could make the distinction?  Thoughts?

Of course I was sure it had to do with babies or puppies. New house? New Job?...never mind me. I'm obsessive about stuff like this. As long as it's good news, that's all that matters.

    • Gold Top Dog

I'm OCD about that stuff too Cathy, hence why I'm so psyched for Friday. Smile  And yes I figured with the thread I started about birth stuff babies would come to mind and most surprises here are new pups, so I figured I'd at least eliminate those two possibilities for ya. Wink

For distinguishing stuffies for kids from stuffies for dogs I often use different scents - like vanilla extract dabbed on all the toys for dogs and none on the kids' stuff.  Renew the scent every month or so and you're good to go in teaching the dogs which ones are theirs regardless of the texture, size, or shape.

Urg - DH is making dinner and spilled chicken liquid in the fridge.  I was on the phone when he was cleaning it up so I didn't have a chance to remind him to use our Clorox (antibacterial) Clean Up spray instead of our regular, non-bacteria killing multipurpose spray.  Now he's annoyed he has to reclean the shelf. Stick out tongue

Apparently Grimm spent yesterday eating copious amounts of poo in the yard..I have no idea how, as he's rarely outside for more than 5 minutes. But, he's spent this afternoon puking large amounts of poo vomit in Aesop's sleep spot (tile in front of the door), the carpet, his crate...bleh.  At least now it's moved from poo vomit to water/mucus vomitHuh?

I thought he'd outgrown the poo eating, but clearly not...

That's sonething else I'm OCD about, especially when it comes to chicken. I heard or read recently that like 45% of chicken is contaminated with salmonella. Last time I deboned some chicken thighs (never buy bone-in thighs for a boneless recipe!) I used clorox to wash out both sinks and the counters and in the process destroyed 2 brand new kitchen towels :(

I bet you're not as ocd as i am with raw meat - I hadn't ever cooked it until last year (I'm 24 lol), and even now i use gloves when i handle it and clean all the surfaces that might've had contact with Clorox spray. Stick out tongue

Enjoying a nice glass of Pinot Noir while making Chili.  The plan was to make the pot roast that's been waiting for me in the fridge over the last few days.  BUT, I needed veggies.  Another plan was to make that potatoe soup that Deb showed us the other day....but need stuff for that too.  I went to the grocery store today and got every thing I needed to make both.  OR SO I thought.  I got home to find the roast had been sitting too long...I was afraid to make it.  AND, the scallions I had in the frigdge for the alternative plan of potatoe soup were bad.  UGH.  So, chili it is tonight.  Indifferent

The hooligans had a spa day yesterday.  Boy, they clean up nice.  Bruder especially....his fur is just so fluffy and soft.  They look good, they smell good, they feel good....and I get more cuddles as a result.  Life is good.

Hey, it got up to about 40 today.  Clear, beautiful blue skies.  I can't complain.  Big Smile
