LOL Dawn!  Two brilliant minds with but a single thought!

You would think that, but I have proven by quilting all day yesterday that I am indeed touched in the head, good golly who takes whole pieces of material, cuts it into pieces just to sew it back together again?

I had fun the whole time.

Glenda -- yes, it does get **cold** here (we gotta have SOMETHIN to kill all the danged bugs!!!!  Don't wish it away yet -- the longer it stays COLD the less fleas/ticks and other yucks we have to deal with in June!!).

In 2007 there were 17 snowflakes IN THE AIR over in Broward County and they CLOSED SCHOOL (cos the kids don't have clothes/footware to stand and wait for the buses!).  I've seen them close schools in 40 degree weather for that very reason.

It was 39 when we got to Give Kids the World this morning with Luna.  It was cold enough that I put a GKTW shirt on her and laid a blanket on the concrete she had to sit on.  It was, we believe, the coldest Saturday morning we've ever been there (in the 7 years we've been going).

But the sun was shining and it was a pretty morning.  And there were some major dog-loving families there!!

I was gonna start one too, but couldn't think of a clever name for it.

Dawn, if those are pics of bread again...

Glenda, did it ever occur to you that you brough the winter to FL?  Hehe.  Lord knows if I went there you'd get a blizzard!

I can't even see out of most of my windows.  For some odd reason they are all frosted up, and its still dry as heck in here.  My  lips are so chapped right now, I'm sure I've gone through most of a jar of vaseline in 2 weeks.  But I'm not sure what to do about it.  If I put on a humidifier, the windows would be completely frosted over in minutes, I'm sure.  My front window has always frosted over, cause it has a big crack on the inside pane, but I'm not really sure why my other windows have started doing it this year.  Guess I'll have to break down and install new windows next year...*sighs* you know, owning your home is nice, except that when something goes wrong, it comes out of your own pocket.

Candace, the reason you have frost is this.

Your windows are not sealed, the moisture is from the cold air meeting the warm air. We have this issue all the time with our front storm door. You can try re caulking them for a temp fix.

ETA: and no it is not bread...hehe

I'm feeling better but I still have no voice. Thanks for asking Dawn.  I'm going to go look at your quilt on fb in a sec.   It's sunny here and around 45 degrees.  I woke up a three and couldn't get back to sleep.  I need to get moving but I'm finally feeling sleepy and want to nap.  I watched the HGTV Dream Home last night.  What beautiful views and I loved how they furnished the house.  I don't think it's my choice of a dream home but it's sure gorgeous.

Isn't that the truth? Windows are a great investment though, so it'll be worth it. I did just read the other day that the same temp with some humidity feels warmer than without humidity.

I slept like a rock last night and didn't get up until a little after 7. That's late for me and I probably wouldn't have gotten up then if DH hadn't brought Sassy in the room and told her to jump up on the bed and then said "tell mom that she needs to get up and feed you". Huh?

I've gotten the house pretty cleaned up and I think I might go do some shopping. I just feel like getting out and about for a bit. I plan to back a ham this afternoon and then just relax and do some reading.

ETA - Jackie, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Dawn - I don't have a FB account but would love to see your quilts.

It's a crime!  I still think it should be illegal for FL to get cold.  If we don't get to have all the fun of playing in snow, then we shouldn't have to deal with the cold weather.  =p

    42!?! that's WARM for a January in DC. I'm JEALOUS of 42!!

Finally back home from a few days at future MIL's.  Had fun..we watched a lot of WEIRD malaysian movies (fiance was born there)  and had frozen pizza.  Gotta give props to fiance...while EVERY OTHER COWORKER HE TRAVELED WITH was off looking for someone to cheat on their wives with, he was on the phone with me when it hit midnight in DC.  That in and of itself makes me ill...these jerks are spending new years in Nevada, and they can't keep their pants zipped for 10 days!  But, fiance is a good boy, and I told him that and that I trust and love him for it.  One guy just got married 3 months ago and had the gall to panic the next day when he couldn't get ahold of his wife! What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Why even GET married if you're going to mess around? Anyways, off my soapbox.  I had a good time at future MIL's...Maggie had a good time playing in the snow with her 7 yr old German Shepherd mix...I think the 7 yr old dog kinda got tired of puppy energy in her face at all times, but, she was polite...

I'm doing a good job of putting off the house cleaning. There's still 1 more day left of the weekend right?

I met a friend at the agility club this morning and ran the dogs a bit. Abbie was shaking, she was so excited. I pulled out her magic mat and she calmed down enough so that I could run her through a few jumps and such.

Then, even though its 10* and prob 30 below with the windchill, we took all the dogs to the local abandoned golf course and let them race around until their paws froze and we couldn't stand it any more.

Now I'm about to cozy up at home and read a book and maybe take a nap! Ohhh how nice it is!

I traded BF an iTunes giftcard that I got for Christmas for a $20 winning lotto ticket, the other day. I was browsing iTunes and saw the new John Mayer album, went snooping for the giftcard, and bought the album. Heehee. He won't notice for a few days at least, and I'll just give him his $20 back.

I have no idea how you all deal with this kind of cold - it was 37* when I left for work and I was FROZEN. Not to mention it was 5:45 and my stupid Dunkin doesn't open until 6AM, so no coffee for me. I think I need to quit going there. I have an addiction. I'm going to go hit Beals Outlet (we have those down here too, Glenda! Did you get your Monday Club card? You can only have one if you're over 50 ;) and get some more long sleeve stuff. I own probably TWO long sleeve shirts and it's going to be cold for this entire week, so I need some cheap stuff.

Still gloomy and damp here.  We got a little bit of rain yesterday, but not a whole lot.  Glenda and Callie, I gotta tell ya I'm stunned by those FL temps.  I never thought it got that cold in FL.  Don't people go there for the winter?  Must be people who would otherwise be buried in snow drifts. Too bad SoCA and AZ are such a long trek away.  Those would be good places to spend the frigid months. Smile It was in the local paper the other day that an Alameda judge ruled the Governators furloughs illegal and put a stop to any more of them.  He didn't say anything about back pay but it looks like the unions are looking seriously into that. I'll be so glad when that idiot's term is finally up and he can go back to posing in the gym and making cheesy movies.
