Mindless chat, Saturday

Sorry about the hurt knuckle. That must have hurt like mad!

I have had a crazy day today. I had to run and pick up donated xmas decorations, hit the bank, get gas, head across town to pick up the embroidery work I had done, race back across town for abbies CU class, hit the drug store for a perscription and now I need to jump in the shower and get ready for dinner and a play. I'm so tired I would rather just go to bed. My cold/sinus infection is still hanging on making me feel like crapola.

On the bright side, the embroidery stuff turned out fantastic! It was expensive but worth it. I dropped off a fleece zip up too so they can embroider a friends dog names on it for me for a xmas gift. It should be pretty nice when its finished.

*groan* do I really have to go out tonight?

Make a pot of coffee.  Caffeine helps with sinus pressure, and it will wake you up.  Just a thought.

I'm making bread today.  I made one loaf, then decided that it turned out pretty good so I'm making another.  The second one I think is going to be buns or rolls of some sort.  The bread machine is currently kneading it for me.  I'll let it rise in a bowl and start another as soon as it resets.  I added the Epicure Cheese Chive and Bacon dip  mix to the dough.  I wonder how it will turn out?

My knuckle is feeling better, so I guess its not broken.  It still hurts, but not like this morning, oi!  I can at least move it without convulsing on my entire left side now.  I couldn't really take anything for it though.  Pain meds put me to sleep, and I have found that drug induced sleep is not a good mix with wide awake toddlers....

That snow is on it's way and will be here within the next couple of hours!  I thought I'd never make it out of Shaw's and Walmart alive!  You'd think RI would be much more used to snow than this??

I took Willow to the park and we were the only two nuts there.  Willow LOVES this weather and was zooming all around.  I stuck it out for her until I couldn't feel my feet anymore.

I'm going to make more fudge.  I wasn't planning on it but now I've got tons of time this weekend.  First, off to make dinner!

Hope everyone has a great night!

We got pummeled with the snow last night and yesterday.  Totalled around 5 inches, which for my area of NC is OMG THE WORLD HAS ENDED sort of snow.  The roads are gonna ice over tonight, so tomorrow likely won't be a good morning to dash around.

The girls hated the snow.  So I sledded by myself.  I love sledding.  Really appeals to the kid in me.

I got my super-awesome secret santa gift from Huskymom.  It rules.  The girls love theirs, and I love mine.  :-D  I also got the jammies I ordered for Chloe.  Really cute.  I'll try to get some pictures.  River is hauling around one of the stuffies.  :-D

I saw some relatives that I haven't seen in awhile.  I love their dogs, and last time I saw them, they were right on weight.  They've ballooned ALOT.  Their crestie has doubled in weight.  I'm so disturbed by it.  I've been asked not to say anything.  But, jeepers, food ISN'T love.

And on the point of food, all of you who cook well are making my stomach growl.

All you snow bunnies have fun!  I can picture Willow zooming in the snow, perfect weather for her. lol  We have great weather here today.  It got up to about 63 and was mostly sunny.  We took the dogs to the ball park to run and just got home.  The Farmer's Market this morning was having a Christmas Festival.  Who knew? lol  Santa and music and vendors that aren't normally there. We saw two GORGEOUS Berners and two white standard poodles. I was going to take Twister but we had another stop to make afterwards.  We ate before we left to help resist the impulse purchases but still bought way more sweet stuff than we should have. I went by a local children's shelter and delivered some gifts and Rex visited with everyone.  He loves kids and is such a gentle dog with such a sweet face that even kids who are afraid of dogs usually approach after a few minutes. It's sad to see kids without families this time of year but it's also really nice to see what a family they become among themselves.

I'm not cooking tonight, we picked up Subway on our way home from the park.  DH is bummed because he can't watch Dallas play, we don't have the NFL channel and Time Warner isn't showing it.  He'll have to listen on the radio.  I think I'll loll around on the couch with the dogs and eat toasted cinnamon pecans....

Stay warm and safe, you guys with the snow.  I wish I knew how Jamison is doing. :(

I am a brainless mush today -- I fell on Thursday (am a big lady, and I fell in my own hall but there wasn't ROOM for me to fall there *sigh*).  Wrecked a shoulder and knee pretty badly and this was *before* work.  Had a big deal luncheon with a client so I *had* to go gimping and all.  Went to my own acupuncture/homeopathy guy after work and wow -- he helped SO much.

Traumeel as an injection so rocks -- it is *better* than steroids because it is specifically formulated *for* trauma.  He gave me shots in my shoulder, and both knees.

By all rights I should have been toast ... both the shoulder and knee were re-injuries of old highschool/college injuries and I've hurt them before and frankly I was worried.  But wow -- I was actually *better* yesterday (and usually after a fall the next day I'm worse).

I went back this morning for more shots and I am feeling pretty danged human tonight but tired (which is understandable).  I"m not getting the Christmas stuff 'done' I need to but I'll deal with it (I still have to get it TO my folks so we're talking MAIL here).

David's got a big software conversion going on at work -- he left at 7 last night, we had supper and he slept 45 minutes and went BACK to work.  He called me at 5:30 and was about to get an hour and a half "nap" at work and then he'd have another "short shift" to oversee something and hoped to leave work by 8.  Then on call tomorrow.

I hate him driving when he's THAT *tired*.

QUESTION - did it break the skin on the knuckle or just damage it inside?  I tell you keeping peppermint oil and some arnica rub around is awesome.  Truly it is.

This has been the most delicious snow day. I made sugar, chocolate chip, and gingerbread cookies. I cooked hot dogs in the fireplace, and we had chicken noodle soup with home made noodles. I would like to eat more of that, but there is no where at all to put it.

Sledding sounds like a good idea. Maybe if the roads are ok tomorrow, I'll go get my friend and do that.

Groan.  I must have ROCKS in my head!  Grief.  I went shopping today.  Two hours I spent in (shudder) stores full of holiday shoppers.  I still have a few more things to get but I simply ran out of energy and desire to shop.  But, I do know exactly what I'm getting and where to find it.

THEN I went to the laundramat and dryed 4 loads of clothes.  Actually, they were doing pretty good on the clothesline, but towels fell "ick" unless they get a tumble in the dryer, and honestly I don't have enough clothes line for that much laundry!  So THEN I went to the station and got my shift done...and now I'm absolutely drooling for dinner.  I gave in to my basic desires and made a pot of split pea for myself and DS...and a pot of chicken w/rice for the DH.  It smells sooooo good, but it's not quite ready.  Still simmering and doing the flavor marrying thing.....

I cheated though....I BOUGHT breadsticks to go with the soup.

Callie, I'm glad that you're feeling so much better!  I think it's peppermint oil I use for migraines?  And it's wonderful!  Listen to the lady....she's smart!

I'm done baking bread for the day I think.  My house smells like garlicky heaven right now though.  My final project was a homemade cheese pizza, and that's baking right now.  The cheese chive and bacon rolls turned out great, and I ate one with butter and dipped it in the extra pizza sauce while I stood at the counter.  Mmmm....I love fresh bread.

My friend got annoyed with me last night.  I made marshmallow butterscotch bars yesterday and she saw them cooling in the freezer.   She had tried to make some the day before and had found this great recipe for them, worked and worked, and they didn't work out.  She ended up tossing the whole thing out.  When she asked me how I managed to make them, I told her I poured 2 bags of butterscotch chips in a bowl, added a huge glop of peanut butter to it, microwaved it 3 times for 30 seconds stirring well in between, stirred in the mini marshmallows to coat them and poured the whole thing in a pan to toss in the freezer.   Apparently her recipe called for shortening, corn syrup, and a bunch of other stuff, plus a double boiler yada yada yada...I like to keep it simple.

Callie - I'm sorry to hear about your fall and hope that you'll continue to do okay with the injections and....yes, rest, rest, rest. I know it's hard to just chill out but sometimes it's the only thing that will help.

I left the house at 8ish this morning to buy groceries. Came home and made the lasagna and tiramisu and then started cleaning and it's now 5:00 and I'm finally DONE. Man, what a loooonnnnnggggg day. I ate a light breakfast and need to think of something for dinner before this glass of wine goes straight to my head. I do feel like I have food and house organized enough that I can enjoy tomorrow before the dinner party and not feel stressed out. The house really looks great - yay!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Callie!  Good grief, don't do that!  I'm glad you're better today.  Rest up, ok?

    • Gold Top Dog

Whoa Callie!  I missed your post completely...sorry bout the fall!  Yikes!

Its just bruised inside I think.  There may be a little nick on it though.  I'd definitely know for sure if I put peppermint oil on it I guess.  Sadly, I don't have any.  Do you think if I melted a candy cane in some oil that would work?  Stick out tongue The swelling for the most part has gone down.  Its still a little red with a blue bruise to one side, but it doesn't look too bad.  And now it only hurts when I do stupid things like stuff my hand in my jeans pocket for change, or shove the oven door closed with the back of my hand.  Its stiff if I make a fist, but other than that I can forget about it the majority of the time.

I have some peppermint foot scrub, do you suppose it has similar properties?  It makes sore feet feel better...

    • Gold Top Dog

oooow Candace! bruises on hands huuurt!!

I had a good day today, went shopping with my friend, was nice.  Now doing laundry, then later will go to wal mart, then do midnight grocery shopping.  then bed!!

I've eaten all but one of my ferrero rocher though lol those are certainly my weakness!!  And so are those seashell chocolates!

And oooh yeah I have chocolate milk, but not made with nestle syrup!  I have the nestle powder!! haha! i love this stuff and i haven;t had it since i was a kid and it is sooooo gooooood mmmmmm

    • Gold Top Dog

Candace - I think anything that has peppermint oil in it would work and the foot scrub might. I've got sympathy pains for you. I smashed the end of my baby finger today and it hurt like heck but I was busy and got on with things. Tonight it's thobbing like crazy and there's a big blood blister near the nail. I'm sure it'll be fine but it's surprising how one inch of a baby finger can hurt so much - wah :'(

    • Gold Top Dog

Hehe, I'm loving all the attention!  Gotta say, I almost wish it was worse than it is!  hehe.  But really, its not bad.  If it was a bruise anywhere else, I'd hardly even notice it, but I'm a hand talker, and rather prone to doing things without thinking, so I keep banging it.

I want to order something from Dog.com, and it says they ship to Canada, but it won't let me enter a Canadian address...I'm frustrated!  I don't want to pick a state!  I don't live in a state!  Geographically, I'm closest to Minnesota, but I don't live there!  And I don't have a Zip Code!  I have a Postal Code, but a postal code has 6 letters and numbers and a Zip has 5 numbers.  So they don't fit, and it just tells me I'm wrong.  I'm not wrong!  You're Stupid!  ***shakes fist at Dog.com***
