    Mindless chat, Saturday

We're getting SUNSHINE today.  Not going to be very warm and it's going to be rather windy, but SUNSHINE!!!!!  Today AND tomorrow!!!  Oh yeah, I'll take that!  Hopefully that wind will help at least dry out the surface of the ground.

So, got up this morning and wondered why it was still so dark at 6AM.  Got the coffee made, did all the early morning stuff, slipped on the "eyes" and realized, opps, it's only FIVE.  Oh well.  I was already up and moving....falling back asleep would have been out of the question.  And, the coffee smelled good!

I think I'll have to go to the laundramat today.  The dryer which wasn't working well burned itself out completely.  Things *might* dry on the line, but, if they don't, I'm still stuck going later in the day when little kids running loose are either tired and cranky, or wound up and nutsy.  Decisions, decisions.........I suppose that the first step would be to WASH the clothes.........

It's 55* outside beautiful day in Florida wish it was like this everyday Big Smile, I still gotta get one more gift it's for my dad and he's just like me very picky and I know whatever I get he'll want to return it lol.  He doesn't wear regular t-shirts only button down which he still has a draw full from a year I went a little crazy with them got them from jcpenney for $2.00 couldn't pass it up.

He doesn't know how to fix things he wants another jacket and I refuse to buy him another one since I bought him one last year and he has 3 other ones I told him Florida gets cold how many times why does he need so many jackets and he doesn't go anywhere.

He looks at sneakers man is just got a pair and my mom got him some for christmas which he knows and still wants another ugh...

Anyway guess I'm off to the mall again.

It's starting out to be a nice day, sunny for the most part and not too cool.  I've fixed and eaten a breakfast that should last me till supper.  I've been up since four.  We're heading down to the Farmer's Market to pick up some spiced peach butter to send to DH's brother and sister.  DH waits every year till the last minute and I've given up reminding him.  Later I'm going to deliver some things to a local children's home.  Rex will come along and provide some smiles for the kiddos.

Karen, I'm glad B isn't showing any ill effects from his lunacy.  Your weather sounds horrid but the split pea and ham soup sounds yummy.  I put smoked turkey wings in the last pot of split pea soup I made and it was really, really good.

Glenda, sorry your drier died,  I hate going to the laundromat.

I think Onyx busted my knuckle last night.  I had the dogs out on the long line just to play a bit and get some exercise since I couldn't leave with them for a long walk.(girls were asleep inside)  Well, Crusher is good on the long line.  He will run full tilt for a bit, but then he'll slow himself and pace to the end of his reach.  Not Onyx though.  She runs full tilt and bam, end of rope.  Full Tilt the other way and Bam, end of rope...etc etc etc.  She is so unaware its mind boggling.  However, her determination paid off last night and she snapped the clip off her collar and got loose.  But when she did, the line and clip came flying straight back at me and the clip got the knuckle of my middle finger.  A blue bruise showed up right away, but it just felt like I banged my hand.  This morning its swolen enough that my typing is probably about 20 wpm instead of 95 and it hurts even to open cupboard doors.  That dog is lucky I love her.  Her sweetness is purely defensive I swear, cause if she was owly and dumb....I was telling my neighbor yesterday that if Onyx has taught me one thing, its patience.

Hmmm, this is what I woke up to today:

This is Finn's first real snow.  I think he's gonna love it.  We will be going out in a bit.  We are waiting for it to STOP snowing.  It's still coing down pretty good out there.  I am also still sick.  It has been a week today and I'm not getting any better, I may have to call the dr. onn Monday, even though I know there isn't much they can do for a cold.  However, I am so sick of feeling like this!  I'm just glad I don't need to go anywhere today.  The roads look pretty bad.  I'll just stay home and do some laundry and play with the pups.  It's too bad there's no food in the house.  :(

We've got snow. I'm sitting at home today. I wish I could work, because I get bored. Right now I'm sitting around in front of the fireplace though.  I think I'm gonna go bring in some of my food. We went out to the grocery store this morning and got some stuff. I think I'm gonna cook a hotdog on the fire.

I don't envy you having to be out and about in that snow but man, that sure is pretty.

I finally slept really good last night and didn't wake up until almost 7. That's like sleeping in for me and I feel much more rested. Yay!

I have to go to grocery store, so I'm going to do that early. I only have a few things to pick up for the dinner we're hosting tomorrow night. I'm going to make the lasagna and tiramisu today and also get the house cleaned. It'll make things very enjoyable for me tomorrow if I don't have too much to finish up.

Split pea soup sounds wonderful. I think I'll pick up some ham at the store and make that later this week.

    • Gold Top Dog

I soooo love split pea soup. DH however, just can't stomach it.  I've even tried making it with YELLOW split peas since he thought it was the color that bothered him.  Nope. It's the flavor.  Maybe I'll just make some for me and DS and pull a frozen pasty (homemade) out of the freezer with him.......

I too still have some shopping to do.  I need to pick up some practical stuff for all of us, but want to find a few whimsical things as well.  That however, will wait until the first of the week.

     Candace OUCH!

GeorgAnne wheeeeeeeeeeeee!  I expect pics of Finn and crew in the snow

Soup is cooking and yum it smells goooooooooooooooooood!  I knew I saved that ham bone for somethingBig Smile  Although the smoked turkey wings sound wonderful too.

And insane woman that I am I took B for his 1/2 mile gallop.  Still 33*, very windy and raining.  He didn't seem to notice too many wonderful things to smell

GeorgAnne, we got it too! Wheeeeeeee!  I already shoveled the drive once but it's covered again.  At least in our neck of the Pittsburgh hills (Shaler), the plows have been by several times so it's not too bad out there, and it's not horribly cold either.  Whoo hoo!  I like snow, at least for the first few snow falls :)  Poor Sammy forgot how to walk in it, me thinks, its rather comical since he hates to be cold.

DH's presents might actually make it before we head off to the relatives.  I had finally gotten an email from the company after emailing them 4 times, and it shipped after "processing" for 10 or 11 days.  UPS scheduled delivery is for 12/22 (which is also my bday so a great day for presents!) so I'm crossing my fingers!

This is day 1 of 16 days off of work so I'm really being lazy, and loving it.  We're going out to dinner later for my birthday, so that will be fun, and I'm putting off my 15-item to do list until tomorrow.

ETA - Candace that sounds painful.  Have you iced it? Take some anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen) as well. I walked into a door at work the other day, and took some ibuprofen and iced it and it really helped keep it udner control.  The last time I walked into a door, it was all shades of ouch for a good month or so but it was too painful to ice properly in the beginning

The snow just started to really pick up here. I've shoveled a couple of times, because I feel like it's better if I get it a few times while it's not high and still easy, rather than letting it get really piled up, so I actually have to shovel, instead of just pushing it.

     ditto!

I missed the opportunity to stop at the post office today, for the love!!  Too busy doing unproductive things.  I need to log off and DO some stuff.  I expect pics of puppers in the snow when I return. :D

It's about 50* here ... not raining but it looks and feels like it's about to start any minute. I was at World Market a couple of days ago and they were having a sale on canned soup.  I got a couple of cans of Butternut Squash with Roasted Red Peppers and it was sooo good.  But - it's an import from Scotland (Baxters) so when World Market runs out I guess I won't be finding it at Safeway any time soon.  I have a little bit of wrapping and a whole lot of cleaning to do but I can't seem to make myself get started.

I'm whipped and I haven't even done any cleaning. I went to grocery store and bought everything I need for tomorrow night's dinner. I had quite a bit already so I was pretty shocked to spend $75. I had to buy espresso and Kahlua for the tiramisu and marinated mushrooms, olives and artichokes for the antipasto salad. Those things alone added up to a lot of $$, but they were key ingredients. I made the lasagna and it looks amazing. It's a much fancier recipe than I normally make and I hope it tastes as good as it looks. I also made the tiramisu and it looks great too. It's actually a knock-off version of tiramisu, so I hope it tastes okay. I'd better get off my rear end and go get some cleaning done and then I can truly relax.
