Mindless chat, finally Saturday

Ugh...just took Maggie to see Santa at Petsmart...it was held in the Petshotel thing, so Maggie thought she was being borded (don't know why...I'd sneak her in my suitcase before I'd ever board her there) She freaked, so, I finally got her calmed down....and found out she's scared of Santa...she loved up the photographer, and the "print the pics and give you the frame" lady...wouldn't go near Santa. We finally tricked her into going near Santa, quick snap, she's out.  On our way to pay for the picture, she grabbed a frog from the shelf...since she was kind of freaked out, I didn't have the heart to take it away from her, so I bought it....she was all over the place when I was trying to pay...even tried to leave the store!  Ugh! She's NEVER been that bad at Petsmart before!  I need a drink. But, on a good note, Fiance is coming home at 2.

Its super sunny today. Yay. I am just now getting out of bed though. I woke up at 9 with a sinus migraine and went straight back to bed.

I need to hit toys r us today. That is going to be a nightmare. I also need to get the dogs out for an off leash romp. They have been so good letting me sleep. Well except lily. She kept pawing at me and licking my face. She's lucky I love her!

Hmmm.  Just got an e-mail from a friend about a new scam that seems to be going around. I don't know how to repost, so I'll just explain it.  Seems like someone goes through a check-out line in a store and the casher hits the *cash back* button for $20 or $40. Since you didn't ask for cash back, you don't check the receipt for that and then the cashier will either pocket your *cash back* or give it to a friend that just happens to be in the same line. Guess I'd better start watching the register or checking the receipt.  I usually just fold it and put it where I won't lose it before I get a chance to write it in.  It's bad enough if it happens when  you're using a debit card, but if you're using a credit card it's like taking a cash advance that you'll be paying a pretty hefty interest on.  Credit card companies really soak you for cash advances. I slept in (ALOT) today as well.  I'm hoping it'll help me get over the last of my 'yuck'.

I have a TON of housecleaning to start on, and I also need to go get my last Christmas present.  Hmmm, I think I'll take a bath instead.  :-D

I got one of these the other day and looked it up.

But on the other hand it is always good to check your receipt anyway :)

I'm the type who'd never notice if there was an extra amount added on to my purchase. If I look at my receipt, it's usually after I've gotten home or days later when I'm tossing it out. DH notices all that stuff though. He recently noticed that the donuts he was buying didn't ring up at the sale price and pointed it out to the cashier. Big Smile

Joyce - congrats on getting a TJs nearby. The parking lot at the one I go to isn't the best either and if you don't get there early, you'll have some walking to do. Mostly I notice that the lanes are barely wide enough for one car to drive thru if cars are parked on either side.

It has been a nice saturday so far.  Derek and I slept in a bit, then went to lunch with my parents, then came home, he started the laundry while i went shopping for myself :)  I got myself a new pair of jeans, a pair of yogaish pants and three sweaters and a camisole.

The home, laundry is now finished, Derek and I are watching hockey and I'm heating up the left over pizza :)

Then in a few hours (probably around 11:30 - midnight) we will go grocery shopping.

It's literally freezing here today. . .Willow thinks the weather finally got nice.  Paradise

I think I would actually prefer if it got a whole lot colder here, because if it gets even colder, it won't snow, which would be awesome!

Well, the parade got cancelled.  First time that's happened.  Apparently no one else thought to decorate for the Christmas parade with water resistent stuff.  The gal called because only ONE entry had shown up by a bit after 11 and line up was supposed to start at 11.  She already knew that we were running a bit behind, but didn't feel that two entries constituted a parade somehow......

So, I went and did more to stimulate the economy.  Not that I hadn't already done that this week trying to get family Christmas shopping done.  I had gotten MIL a prepaid VISA and then DH started saying, well, she doesn't get out much, she this, she that...after I had said I wanted to try to find her a flannel sleep shirt to go with.  So I made him go WITH me the other night and he whined like a little kid going to the dentist.  So today we had to make a coffee run for DD and hit a few stores while we were out.

I have a bed now!!!!  I'll tell ya, that foam mattress from the RV just wasn't cutting it.  I'm really good at falling asleep in my recliner anyway, but been worse here since we'd end up in the middle of the bed smushed together because we rolled IN in our sleep.  I guess it wasn't so bad in the RV because it sits on a firm platform, or maybe it's just time to replace it, but.........and of course when we were stuffing things in to come down here, DS insisted that a twin mattress was fine for him....oh no, don't need a box spring or a frame.  Yeah, well maybe for a bit, but we thought we'd be going back for furniture WAYYYY long ago!

I have a lovely waterbed in MI.  DS has  a really good bed as well.  So I started researching the "anytime, anywhere" beds that blow up.  Eventually we'll go to MI and retrieve our stuff, and at that point, I don't want a ton of beds to try to find something to do with.  I knew my sister had an air bed in her guestroom.  What I didn't know is that she has one in her RV as well, AND every bed in her house (3 bedrooms worth) except for her really expensive one, is an air bed.  She also said that the air beds are far more comfy than said expensive bed.  So.....ended up having to get two different brands, but got us one with a frame under it, and got DS a Coleman that is up as high as a regular bed.  Both are extraordinarily comfortable, and when they say you can set one up in 3 minutes, they are NOT joking.

She had suggested memory foam, but in looking I saw a down alternative "feather bed" type mattress cover.  It's really thick, really comfy and OMG, it feels like I'm laying on a cloud!!  Needless to say, Santa dropped part of his load a bit early this year.  He has more to drop off for the real day, but I think everyone in my house is going to sleep very well tonight.  DS can't get over the fact that his feet don't hang over the end of the bed anymore!

So, I think I've done my part in stimulating the economy this week. And since I don't use credit cards, I'm not digging a big old hole.....

    Whew, busy busy day.

A Pet Supplies Plus had their grand opening in the next town up from us and HOLY FREE SAMPLES BATMAN. The Merrick lady gave me two full size cans of BG (turkey and buffalo - I wanted the tripe but BF said NO WAY) and two dried lamb's ears. Dogswell gave me a full-size pack of their chicken jerky. Natural Balance had a deal going on that if you bought a bag of dry, you got a free package of treats. I think I walked out of there with $50 worth of stuff for about $30. I had a $5 off coupon too. It was insanity though - a ton of dogs that really didn't need to be out in that kind of crowd. I think I'll go back during the week and see what they actually have - it was so crowded I couldn't shop the way I wanted to.

Callie called me at lunchtime and her computer was dead - I haven't read thru the board to see if she's back up but she said that if anyone has an emergency to call her on the phone (a few of us have her #).

I had a few dogs to walk mid-day and then BF and I went on a Christmas tree hunt - we went to a tree lot and they wanted $50 for the teeniest Charlie Brown tree ever. Off to Home Depot we went and we got a tall skinny tree this year :)

So, I put lights up inside and BF worked outside. Tiki is so weird about where she'll sleep - anyplace is good so long as it's comfy. The tree skirt is apparently her new blankey. Uh, OK.

Speaking of Tiki, she's pretty wheezy and tired - she wasn't feeling well last night and hasn't improved today. Hopefully she can tough out Sunday, and we'll see how she is Monday.

Now I'm stuffed full of chinese food and I still need to bathe both dogs, oy.

Good vibes for Tiki's breathing to improve!

Meg, Bevo, Brutus, & the cat love to lay under the Christmas tree.  Seeing Bev, & Bru try to get under there is, ummmm interesting.

We had a great Christmas party.  I wasn't sure about a daytime party, but it worked out wonderfully.  We have quite a few friends with young kids, so it was nice that they could come without having to worry about bedtimes, or finding a sitter.  I spent most of the time carrying around one of my friend's five week old daughter.  I am trying to convince DH that Bevo needs a baby sister....

The inlaws leave in the morning.  I'm almost sad to see them go.

Only for a few more weeks.  Then she goes home!

I was thinking more along the lines of the two legged variety. Wink

If you need help, have DH call me. I totally agree about the baby sister/brother thing. Smile

I had a busy enough day and managed to snooze on the couch for an hour or so. With the rain coming down in buckets, it was perfect. I made a blueberry coffee cake and worked on Christmas cards this evening and now I'm just enjoying an evening relaxing with the dogs.
