Well, the parade got cancelled. First time that's happened. Apparently no one else thought to decorate for the Christmas parade with water resistent stuff. The gal called because only ONE entry had shown up by a bit after 11 and line up was supposed to start at 11. She already knew that we were running a bit behind, but didn't feel that two entries constituted a parade somehow......
So, I went and did more to stimulate the economy. Not that I hadn't already done that this week trying to get family Christmas shopping done. I had gotten MIL a prepaid VISA and then DH started saying, well, she doesn't get out much, she this, she that...after I had said I wanted to try to find her a flannel sleep shirt to go with. So I made him go WITH me the other night and he whined like a little kid going to the dentist. So today we had to make a coffee run for DD and hit a few stores while we were out.
I have a bed now!!!! I'll tell ya, that foam mattress from the RV just wasn't cutting it. I'm really good at falling asleep in my recliner anyway, but been worse here since we'd end up in the middle of the bed smushed together because we rolled IN in our sleep. I guess it wasn't so bad in the RV because it sits on a firm platform, or maybe it's just time to replace it, but.........and of course when we were stuffing things in to come down here, DS insisted that a twin mattress was fine for him....oh no, don't need a box spring or a frame. Yeah, well maybe for a bit, but we thought we'd be going back for furniture WAYYYY long ago!
I have a lovely waterbed in MI. DS has a really good bed as well. So I started researching the "anytime, anywhere" beds that blow up. Eventually we'll go to MI and retrieve our stuff, and at that point, I don't want a ton of beds to try to find something to do with. I knew my sister had an air bed in her guestroom. What I didn't know is that she has one in her RV as well, AND every bed in her house (3 bedrooms worth) except for her really expensive one, is an air bed. She also said that the air beds are far more comfy than said expensive bed. So.....ended up having to get two different brands, but got us one with a frame under it, and got DS a Coleman that is up as high as a regular bed. Both are extraordinarily comfortable, and when they say you can set one up in 3 minutes, they are NOT joking.
She had suggested memory foam, but in looking I saw a down alternative "feather bed" type mattress cover. It's really thick, really comfy and OMG, it feels like I'm laying on a cloud!! Needless to say, Santa dropped part of his load a bit early this year. He has more to drop off for the real day, but I think everyone in my house is going to sleep very well tonight. DS can't get over the fact that his feet don't hang over the end of the bed anymore!
So, I think I've done my part in stimulating the economy this week. And since I don't use credit cards, I'm not digging a big old hole.....
