Mindless chat, finally Saturday

    Mindless chat, finally Saturday

Thank heavens I made it through the week.  Just insanely busy all darned week!  But, the decorations are all ready to slap on for the Christmas parade, got my ornaments made, my boxes are all ready to stick in the mail on Monday and I'm finally caught up with the Christmas madness.  Even back in the days when I was supremely organized, there was always a last minute crunch to get packages our, so I guess I won't start feeling old quite yet......

    Whew!!

Flat out ugly weather here today, especially for a parade.  Windy, wet and cold, not to mention dreary. Umbrella

Need to stagger to the coffee pot.....

Wet and cold here too.  We had some thunderboomies last night too.  Bruder and Buddy....none too happy.  But, they are actually improving with their (decreased) reactions, so thats good.

I bought myself one of those single coffer makers last weekend.  Can't remember if I mentioned it.  A Keurig.   Love it!  No more waste; and even Mom can handle getting herself a cup.

Gotta run some errands today...buy some Xmas presents for co-workers and neighbors; then I'm ready.  Well, except for baking, etc.

    Stay warm everybody!  Happy Saturday!

I had planned to take Tyler today and walk down to the lakeyard to see the parade.  I might still go if I can find enough waterproof artic wear, but I'm sure not gonna take a dog with me in this ugly weather.

DH called the parade coordinator yesterday and she said they NEVER cancel the parade.  If we get thunder storms they'll tell everyone to take cover and wait for it to pass, but apparently folks plan for this parade for months so rain or shine it'll happen.

It's dreary, drizzly and cold here too.  At least it's not windy.  Skies are supposed to clear up later today.  My tummy trouble seems to have been a 24 hour episode.  I'm feeling much better this morning.  I kind of wish I could feel a little sick so I could laze around but I better get busy. lol

Cold and rainy here too but it's actually been warmer since the clouds rolled in. I think it's supposed to be like this thru the weekend and the rain will get heavier this afternoon. That's all fine with me. DH is working all weekend and other than running some errands and cleaning the house, I have no plans. I'm going to Trader Joes this morning and I always have fun and spend way too much there. I'm super hungry, so I should probably eat before I go there.

Take Corky...he (she?) will enjoy the parade!

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah, she probably would!  However, the parade is around the lakeyard and the ducks there...well some of them look like they are wearing armor on their heads!!

Jackie, I'm glad that you're feeling better today.

Cold, drizzly, & windy here this morning.

We are having a Christmas party this afternoon, so I'm busy, busy, busy trying to finish getting everything together.  I plan on getting a hike in with Bevo & Cher before everyone starts arriving.  They are both insane this morning so we need to burn off some energy before there are actual people here to witness them being pain in the butts.

It's funny how much life changes in a year.  Last year, we had no kids, three less dogs & we lived a completely different lifestyle.  Now, it seems like our world is centered around "kid friendly" activities.  I never thought that I'd say this but I love my life just as it is right now.

All right, enough sappy-ness from me.  Back to work.  Have a great day everyone!

and we all love hearing stories about your life Amanda!  hehe.

I am insanely busy this weekend...why am I on here...I don't know.  I have to finish getting the Christmas Cards ready to send out...they are very rushed this year....no boasty letter or even a picture to include...oh well.  I also have to get the rest of the decorations arranged and clean the house top to bottom, we are having a Christmas party on Wednesday so I want to get ready for that.  I also have to make 9 dozen cookies for a cookie exchange on Monday and bake a giant batch of dog food.  Good news is, Timmy's allergy seems to be all cleared up, he has lost weight though, probably about 10 pounds, so we are trying to put that back on him.  Oh and we have a parade tomorrow that I would really like to take Timmy to, if we have time.  eek.

    I'd better get going.

I spent several hours this morning making dog biscuits - I will just say that was some glutinous dough!  And I don't like anything I have to roll out, cut out, roll again, cut again, etc.  But they are done and they are cute and Bugsy seems to think they taste nice Geeked

Next is getting the place a little Christmas'y' and I need to do some online shopping for my nieces and nephews.

DH & I are going to some fancy steakhouse tonight - its his birthday Monday and he wanted to go to this place.  You know I like a nice steak but I have never gotten the 'fancy' steakhouse thing. I'd rather go somewhere they prepare things I can't or don't make at home

weather here is cold and overcast - was 20* on our temperature gauge in the porch this morning - brrrrrrrr

Lastly Bugsy seems to be uncomfortable this morning I think it may be because he was a spaz going down the stair this morning.  I suppose it is a bit of a reality check that despite being strong and ahead of schedule in recovery it is still all very fragile.

Jackie glad you are feeling better and Amanda hope your party goes well!

For me, that would be just about anyplace. Embarrassed Cold and wet here but the rain is badly needed.  I always take Max's bandanna off if it's raining because when he goes outside to pee he comes back in with this cold, wet thing hanging around his neck.  Can't be  very comfy. I got my cards out and all the boxes in the mail so I suppose it would  be a good idea if I started wrapping some stuff for here. A Christmas tree always looks so much more festive with presents under it.  At least now because of the rain and the cloud cover the temp is up to 50* ... much better than the 20s we had earlier in the week. I'm really getting antsy for spring, and technically it isn't even winter yet.

Sat is Wal Mart day for me, I go early, when I left the store the whole parking lot was completely full! bet next week will be even worse if that can be!  Got a prescription filled there almost had a stroke when she said that will be 40 dollars, it is for a tiny bottle of eye drops I have to use before and after my cataract surgery on the 28 of Dec. and the other one on Jan. llth, I looked and I have to use this particular one for a month. groannnnnnnn so it will have to be refilled I'm sure.  Have two other ones to use too but they gave them to me, thank heaven.  Home now and Bonnie are going to take our afternoon nap.  Still very cold here.

LOL - you and me both. I am liking the warmer temps though. It makes it much more pleasant to have to run errands. I think the next wave of the storm will be here soon though.

Trader Joes wasn't busy at all and that's very unusual. I was in and out in no time. I was going to do some other errands but decided to wait until tomorrow.

My SIL sent us a gift from Swiss Colony and it arrived a couple days ago. It was in a decorative box, so I stuck it under the tree. Thanks to Sassy's inability to leave it alone, I went to move it to the counter and saw the words "Perishable - refrigerate immediately"  The only thing I think might be a problem is a honey cream that was in there. Maybe I'll let DH give that a try. Stick out tongue

Jackie - I'm glad you feel better but to be on the safe side, you should probably rest and do nothing today. :)

Speaking of TJ's ... WE'RE GETTING ONE!!!  Yea!! They'll be going into the little mall right across from the UCD campus where the imaging center is now.  The hospital didn't renew their contract with them (I always  thought a shopping mall was a stupid place for an imaging center anyway) so the plan is to take down the 5,000 sq. ft. building that's there now, replace it with one that's almost 13,000 sq. ft. and aim for an opening in October. Only question is "where in hell-o do they think people are going to park?" It will be right next to World Market whick draws a lot of people anyway. I can hardly wait!!!

Great minds think alike. lol  I did clean out some drawers and one closet.  Got three big bags for Goodwill and took them up there.  I had a bunch of extra hangers and thought they would be appreciated at Goodwill.  When I told the guy who took my bags about the hangers, he said they had tons of them.  Oops, maybe they can sell them for .50 for 50 hangars. I also stopped into Starbucks for a few gift cards for my addict friends.  DH wanted me to buy their Ethiopian coffee because a guy at work told him it was really good.  DH doesn't like 'bold' coffee but he didn't believe me when I said he probably wouldn't like it.  I was right. lol I made a fresh pot and  he took one sip and decided he would stick to the cheapo beans I buy at the grocery store. lol

Stay warm you people in the frozen section of the country.  I'm going to watch the Barefoot Contessa and then maybe a nap.......
