Decided to take a breed selector thingy, and...

    • Gold Top Dog

Mine came up Belgian Shepherd - close but no cigar, although no surprise for a herding dog fan.  Big Smile

    • Silver

    I got:

    1) Brittany Spaniel

    2) Australian Shephard

    3) Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog (there is a picture of this dog and it looks just like a ACD, is there something special about this one having a stumpy tail?!)

    4) Bohemian Wire Haired Pointing Griffon

    5) Doberman

Since Rusty is an Australian Cattle Dog (with a tail!) this seemed to agree that he was a good choice!

I got a Korelian Bear Dog??

    • Gold Top Dog

All of mine were really obscure breeds.  What's up with that?

I think my #1 was Austrian Hound.

But, I noticed something.  After you complete the quiz, and it shows the results, it puts your answers over to the right hand side.  For the first question, even though I chose "Owned dogs in the past, primary caregiver," it said my answer was "NOT as primary caregiver."  I tried it again, and the same thing happened.  Hmmmm.....

    Pwca

Finnish Reindeer Dog (is that the Lapphund, beause if so, wow, I could totally see myself with one of those guys) and Griffon Niveis-thingy.)

It's different -- well it's not totally different, but a different breed. I've wanted one for a while, but DH has vetoed it because I want to import the dog.

I guess my ideal dog would be a Bohemian Wire-haired Pointing Griffon!  Never even heard of this breed before.

The other breeds that came close are: Billy, Spanish Hound, Polish Mountain Dog, & Dutch Water Dog

Wow, ok well I wanted to test this thing out and I went back today and anwered the EXACT same answers and I got different results!

My top result today is a Belgian Malinois. Followed by a Belgian Shepherd Dog, Belgian Tervuren, Boxer, and Great Dane.

    LOL

Did the Selector and came up with a Lab...not a bad suggestion, especially since that was what my girlfriend as well as being her favorite breed.  Also mentioned a Setter, Golden, and a Pointer.

There is another breed selector (Friend Fetcher) tool on the Petcentric site.  Its half fun, half tool, but the entertaining part is the dogs describe themselves.  The German Shepherd is pretty amusing with a predictable accent.

     1) Nova Scotia Duck Toller

    2) Bull Terrier

    3) Australian Kelpie

    4) Bohemian Wire Haired Pointing Griffon

    5)Schiller Hound

It's interesting cuz I do want a Kelpie but the last two breeds, I've never even heard of. Lol

     Bohemian Wire Haired Pointing Griffon

    Schiller Hound

I took the other one and got a mixed breed. I always thought a Cocker x Shih Tzu would be cute! LOL

    Here are my results:

My ideal dog breed is a Newfoundland- "Newfoundlands are a magnificent large breed dog, broad, strong and well muscled yet elegant and covered in a superb water resistant coat.". Well I will be honest, I really am not much for this breed, lol. For myself that is. My neighbor has one and she does not strike me as a dog I like too much. I posted my top ten favorite and least favorite breeds- my least favorite was anything that drools. This would fall under that catagory. :) Of course they are beautiful dogs.

Rottweiler- My dad has two- Bianka and Hoss. I like them but, they just seem to bull-headed to me. Although there breed personality does claim they are bull-headed.

German Shepherd- I believe there beautiful. Before I got Zeke, I almost bought one. Actually on several occasions I almost did. The first time the breeder was not very reputable and I never seemed further interested past a phone call to her. The second time I was looking around and just did not feel I "connected" to that dog. Wonderful dogs though.

Bernese Mountain Dog- I never seen these dogs before. I honestly, in my area believe this breed is slim to none. However, they are very pretty.

Bohemian Wire-Haired Pointer- I have never seen one of these dogs in person. They seem pretty. However, I am not really into dogs with wire-like hair. They seem like graceful, attractive dogs though.

    I never got a Collie, :( LOL!

I got terrible suggestions. A Wirehaired Griffon and 3 kinds of scenthounds. Though I have nothing against those breeds, I would personally never choose to own either a sporting breed NOR a scenthound - they drive me crazy!
    • Gold Top Dog

I got a Belgian Shepherd. Cool, though I don't think I'll ever have one. Dobe was on my "other 4" list!!! YAY!
