so outta the 50 emails you receive each day about dogs needing homes, you have only ever posted about 1?

    how pitiful.

i have posted more than that, and apparently i am not doing enough. [&:]

Actually, when I was advised to PTS Marvin from a member, I was discouraged.  But lets see how you help place Marvin.  Yeah, lets see.

i seriously hope you arent trying to insinuate that it was me who advised you to PTS marvin?

i sincerely hope you can find a good home for marvin, but that wasnt the question. the question is.. since you get so many daily emails about animals looking for homes, why do you never post them in the dogs looking for homes section? i have done it, as well as many other people here. it only takes a few seconds to cut and paste from an email.

Please start posting them in Advocacy or Canine Connection for us.  Perhaps all that needs to happen to help these puppies is for you to simply let someone know.  I'm sure I haven't seen a post like that from you.  Perhaps I've missed it though.

Well, lets see you how you do.  Lets take Marvin a Treeing Walker Coonhound that I have fostered now for over a year.  I believe there are posts on him in every category of this board.  So I believe Marvin is well known here.  I even remember mentioning this hound to you in a pm.  I still have it so I can forward to refresh your memory.

You said you had 50 emails a day about puppies.  Start posting them and we'll see what can be done.  I know you like to turn the argument back at someone.  But what I'm doing is actually encouraging you to be proactive.  Yet, all of a sudden I'm the one that's at fault?

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned that a shelter in Broward county didn't have enough puppies.  Did you send that poster links or forward emails to them?  The supply of puppies isn't so low that one has to resort to commercial breeders.  There are thousands of puppies out there looking for homes.   Cyclefiend was trying to help-yet you attacked him for his post, calling his post and the writeups pitiful.   Do you think that bodes well for others that might want to post about puppies needing foster or permanent homes?

You claim to foster and work with fosters and care so much about the unwanted dogs in the world, yet you thumb your nose at someone who is trying to help.  Talk about ego.

No, lets not do a diversion tactic.  Lets help Marvin, a hound.  Its only one dog and I would be willing to do a lot to get this dog into a good family home, even beg.

Cyclefiend2000, get normal.  No I was not insinuating anything pertain to you with respect to Marvin.  One member told me to PTS Marvin because he would be hard to place and in the time it takes to place Marvin, I could foster so much more.  Some members have that as a very strong opinion but they do not have Marvin before them looking at you with those hound eyes.

In the Canine Section, I posted a thread on Petraits.  I am part of Sheri's email network and on her site is Marvin.  Marvin is on a few sites as courtesy posting.

Still no offer of help, Xerxes.

DPU - that challenge could be more easily met by other folks here than you may ever care to admit to yourself.  So be it.  To throw around accusations and challenges about who does more for rescue dogs is a sign of someone who has lost perspective.  Maybe it's time for a break to regain stability and perspective.

You're the one with the diversionary tactic here.  Just a few posts ago you were saying that commercial breeders were a viable source of dogs.  Then you slammed Cyclefiend, now you're attempting to smokescreen everyone and make me look bad.

Tell you what, you start posting those emails (all 50 a day now...don't be stingy) and I'll get active and help you find a home for your boy Marvin.  Do you have any area exemptions?  And is he cat friendly?

As a starter, from the link I provided on Petraits, you can email her and ask to include you in her network.  She does post a lot of Pitties.  They are worth receiving because her pictures of the dogs will brighten your day.  Then you can work on your own and save me time from posting here.

Marvin has the history of being a True SA dog.  I don't have any cats but he seems to be indifferent when meeting cats at Petsmart.  He needs time to get use to other male dogs in a household.  Never has had a problem with female dogs.  He is a housepet and not a working dog.  This year I was planning on working on his hound instinct.  Of course I know nothing about hounds just I did not know anything about the Pointer instinct until I got into it.

I will wait to see what happens.

I don't understand, Davey.  It is Davey, isn't it?  Cutting and pasting your 50 emails a day is too much to ask?  Such a small task, even if it would save dogs, is too much to ask of you?

And you are going to call Bradley "pitiful"??

Seriously... I have yet to understand your position, DPU. You are FOR puppymills by the sound of it... then you complain about 50+ emails a day about dogs needing homes.

Then when someone posts about dogs needing homes, you call it pitiful... and then can't be bothered to post about the dogs, either.

[sm=coffee.gif] I need more coffee apparently cause this makes no sense.

Of course I know nothing about hounds

Sure - let's start with getting you educated about the breed type so that you understand what you have on your hands from a hound perspective...these things can also be shared w/perspective adoptive homes:

There's a coonhound rescue right in Michigan who has members who are able to educate about coonhounds.  Spending time with them could be a great resource for understanding Marvin and the type of home he would need: [linkhttp://www.coonhound911.org/info/]http://www.coonhound911.org/info/[/link]

Thanks for the links.  Did you notice Marvin is on the Michigan Coon Rescue site.

In Marvin's time with me he has taught me a lot about dogs in general, dog illness, and dog's mental illness, as well as living with hounds.  I will reference the other links and I am hoping there will be guides for me to help Marvin get in touch with this breed instinct for hounding.  One of the very first things I do when I don't know the breed is get in touch with breed rescues.

Added:  Marvin is on a few sites including Houndsong which is a hound rescue in my city.  Robdar, a member here is Houndsong and he has helped me also.

No, you do not have permission to call me Davey?  For you and only you. you have permission to call me Mr. DPU.

I have a suggestion for you.  You live in Illinois and in a city where University of Illinois has a campus.  Contact their Annimal Community and get on their email network.  Then you can do the easy task of cutting and pasting as you described.  If that campus does not have an Animal Community then contact the main campus in Champaign/Urbana.  I have got the University of Illinois at Chicago covered so no need to inquire there.

Well this all seems silly.  What does who does more for rescue work have anything to do with anything?  It seems highly counterproductive and egotistical to me, but what do I know?

The truth is EVERYONE could be doing more by someone else's standards.  No one has the right to judge someone for not fostering 30 dogs even if they have the means.  You could say about the person who rescues one dog, 'Why couldn't you have one more?'.  Same thing goes for the person with whatever large number- 'What about the others?'  It's just stupid.  We all do what we're able to and we should be patting each other on the back for the work we're doing to try to help the situation.

Never hurts to ask for people to do more, some times the answer is yes they can and will.
