It's Monday - where's the moanin'?

DH and I started talking about adding a fourth dog in about 9 months - year. Confused We must be nuts.

With Luna spayed, I don't have anyone to show in conformation, and am handling friends dogs for them. Lu will still show in the altered division of ASCA, and we're doing rally and agility when we have time, but I miss conformation. First time it hit me that I actually have the bug is not having a dog to get ready for a show in Syracuse this weekend.

In the past we've said three dogs is our limit (not for any particular reason), and yesterday, DH looked at me and said, you realize we've been living with four the past year and a half with all the fosters, right? Well, nope, clearly I haven't been counting...

Tina, do you know what dosage of Lasix Agnes is on?  She also might need an adjustment in her dosage.  Just an idea.  Anyway, I think a vet visit is important.

Karen - if you must get Bugsy to poop and he won't do it, try matching him.  Wet the sulfur end of a matchstick, insert it into his rectum (gently, just a little bit of the sulfur part) and it's almost magic.

I have never heard of this before!!! And kind of sorry that I know about it now lol Gross.

Yeesh, me too. Not the kind of thing you want to read while you're eating lunch. Ick!

Joyce - we have wild turkeys in our neighborhood too and they've been waddling around for months now. It's hilarious to watch the neighborhood cats stalking them.

Yes, it is 12.5mg twice daily.  I'm waiting on a call-back from the vet.

Tina, sending lots of good thoughts for Agnes.

Just spoke to the vet, he doesn't want to up the Lasix since it'd make her pee all the time, so we are adding Vetmedin.  The funny thing is he told me originally that the Lasix would make her thirsty and have to pee more, but she has not really increased her intake of water in the last week.  She went from super thirsty and peeing all the time for the first month or so to just normal.  She doesn't seem dehydrated either (skin pull test was okay).  I guess we'll see if this helps.  I really need to get some sleep, though.  I'm at my limit for not getting enough and still being useful.

Tina - I really hope the new med helps. I know that when Sassy was going thru her chronic foot-licking phase and I couldn't sleep thru the slurping, I was a mess from lack of sleep. Maybe you should try taking a benadryl or tylenol pm for yourself tonight.

Someone just asked me if Ruger, the Weim that comes to work with my coworker every day, is a Great Dane.  Hard not to laugh but I didn't.  He's a normal sized Weim.  I got this funny picture of a Great Dane retrieving a small cow stuck in my head.  That reminds me of a friend's story about their small terrier mix who was missing for a day.  They lived in the country at the time and the dog was always running loose.  They spotted him coming up the dirt road to the house dragging something bigger than himself.  Turned out to be a cow's head.  LOL   It took him forever to get it home but by gosh he was PROUD.

Got my SS assignment from Glenda!   Shopping can commence!

I appreciate the suggestion; however, I take an antidepressant that interacts with antihistamines, so benadryl is out.  Tylenol p.m., the one time I took it years ago, had the opposite effect - I was awake all night.  I think its sleep inducer also interacts.  I'd prefer not to wake up dead tomorrow.  LOL

I want Agnes to be comfortable, too.  I know when I've had bronchitis in the past that coughing up a lung makes the body ache.  I can't imagine she's not hurting from all the hacking.

Hahahahaha, Jackie, I can just see the Terrier lugging a cow head down the road.  I think the dog was challenged by a neighboring dog to drag that head home.  I can't see a Terrier passing up a dare. ~L~

Tina, I so understand how you're feeling.  Watching Maghee struggle to breath was so hard.  I hope the Vetmedin helps her & you can get some rest.

I don't know how some of you live with beagles.

No, I don't want you to wake up dead tomorrow either. Just an FYI though. The sleep inducer in tylenol PM is the generic of benadryl and nothing more. Since I started buying generic benadryl in bulk for Sassy, I discovered that and now I never waste my money on tylenol pm. I've had good luck with some of the tea blends that are made for inducing sleep, so if you get desperate, try one of those. As tired as you probably are, I doubt you'll need anything at all once Agnes is sleeping soundly.

My right foot has been aching for weeks now. It's not like anything I've had before and it's hard to even pinpoint, but it just aches. It almost feels like if I'd had the laces on my running shoes too tight over the arch but it's not that. The funny thing is that it doesn't bother me a bit when I'm working out but it's aching right now and driving home can be brutal. I may have to visit my dr. if it doesn't get better soon.

Tina, have you tried earplugs? I got some foam earplugs this last week while I was visiting family and couldn't sleep (who the heck puts THREE ticking clocks in a guest bedroom!?), and they worked wonders. Very effective at blocking out noise when you put them in right. Maybe worth a try?

I don't know Agnes' whole story, so maybe there's some obvious reason she's not on this, but I have to tell you that hydrocodone is AWESOME for coughing. Cherokee's on hydromet, which is hydrocodone and something else in a cough syrup, and seriously it's like a miracle liquid. She HATES it, but I give it anyway at the teeniest "gruff" and her cough is totally non-existent after it. Just a thought?

HAHA. I don't LOOK at it - I'm just tired of listening to it! Esp. when they let it out at 7AM on my day off... If they would stay outside with her - she wouldn't bark... but I guess they enjoy having their neighbors suffer more...sometimes I really wonder why people would get such a dog... I've fostered a few beagles, and I NEVER left them outside alone- for the fear they'd bark and annoy the neighbors... grrr.

Tina- I think you'll see a real improvement with the vetmedin!

I've got to make an appt with my chiro - he wants to see if I really have TMJ - and how bad it is...
