papillon dogs

I have two Papillons, Cujo and Trinket.

As I've read, it takes about 2 years for a Papillon to grow its mature coat.

Cujo turned 1 year old last November and his coat is very nice. Trinket was born in September of 2005, and she is just now starting to "fluff" at her ears, though her body is still pretty short in coat length.

I have just one Pap, Zippy, and he was 11 years old when I rescued him, so I have no idea what his puppy coat was like.

I do NOT, however, give my dogs (any of them) rawhide or greenies. With the rawhide it would be too easy for them to choke on them, or have large chunks puff up and form blockages. With the greenies, I've read too many stories about blockages etc. to be comfortable with them.

    Hi,

I buy the bones from the grocery store  and boil them, cut off the fat on the
bone, leaving meet and the marrow in. Let it cool and then give it to Mocha.
And nylabones and (hate to say it pigs ears) and kongs or variations of kongs,
I fill them with little training treats and she throws it around and plays for
    quite awhile.

By boiling the bones you are damaging the molecular structure and making them more likely to splinter, thus FAR more dangerous for your dog.  There is absolutely NO reason to boil bones....dogs can handle what little bacteria might be on them.  After all, they eat POOP and don't get sick from that..........

She is a pure-bred Papillon.  She was born Dec. 11, 05 and I adapted her at a local pet store around the beginning of  April 06.  So, I'm guessing she's around 16 weeks old when I got her.  She weighed in around 2.7 lbs. when we got her.  Quite a little dog.  Now, she's almost weighing in at 5 lbs. Hey, is it true that she will lose her hair completely "bald" before a new coat comes in?   I mean to the skin....  I thought they will shed their fur like any other dog.   She only had one sister.   I was able to get her registered at the American Canine Accociation, Inc.   Her actual full name is Princess Laya Fower.  Can you figure out where I got the name from..!!  I'm a Star Wars Fan [:)]  Sorry, I don't have any pictures, but I think I know where I locate some.  I'll let you know in a couple of days

She's cute!  No, she won't go completely bald, but some do look worse than others going through the naked phase.
