I'd be likely to electrocute myself

Nowadays, we do fancy things like turn the circuit off, first.

That's fancy? Wow.. Lol. Where was I when this happened? I'm used to shocking my self when plugging stuff in or working with a toaster (note to self: UNPLUG THE BLOODY THING! Embarrassed

Now Alex on the other hand was electrocuted so bad he lost some childhood memories. He had to change a fuse in an electric oven and didn't turn off the power supply. Some how a wire disconnected and reconnected with his finger in the center. Threw him across the room and knocked him out for 10 minutes.. Of course this was before we met. Lol

Now why would someone work hot when they haven't been trained to? Sounds like a dumb idea to me.

Some don't want to appear that they can't do the job. Or, they are in a hurry. Or overestimate their skill. I have worked hot and I have learned specific methods to deal with that. At times in the past, it was the quickest way to deal with a problem. My friend RC used to check torque on the lugs of energized gear for factories. They can't shut down and you have to do it while energized. There is specific equipment and procedures for doing that, not unlike linemen that work on power poles. Insulators, 2,000 volt hot gloves. And a certain procedure that you never alter, ever, amen.

My first shock was when I was 3 years old. I stuck my mom's bobby pin in a wall plug.

    Ouch.

Now, I get paid for working with electricity. Go figure...

Today has been "spend the day with DH" day.

This morning, I went with him, Brinxx, Shooter, & Schatzi to herding class.  Bev, Chyna, & I sat in the stands & watched.  I've only been one time, & it was right after they started herding.  At home, the dogs tend to ignore everything that DH tells them, so I really didn't expect much.  I was amazed to see that, while the dogs were in the arena, DH was in total control.  It was fun to watch them, because it was obvious that they were all having fun.

Since we were at the training center, I decided to take Bevo through an obedience class.  For the past month & a half, he has gotten a free pass on, what is normally, unacceptable behavior.  Since he's doing so well, I think that his behavior returns back to normal.  He did really well.  He had great attention, nice head position, nice straight sits, & excellent heeling.  He still walks "tight" for lack of a better way to explain it.  His new stride makes heeling a little tougher, but he's thrilled to work to stay in the proper position.

This afternoon, we went shopping at a HUGE crafts fair.  We have decided that we want to buy new Christmas decorations together for our first married Christmas.  I have realized that our tastes are vastly different.  I gravitated towards single color themed trees.  DH loves shotgun shell Christmas lights.Zip it!  I'm sure that we can find something that we both will like.

I can't wait to start Christmas decorations too... And this year we will have our first "real tree", I'm praying already so Thor and the cats will leave it alone.

Last night snowed!!! YAY!!! I can't wait to go out with Thor Smile

Yesterday the lights went out around 11 in the whole town. We were all in bed when my dad's cell phone rang and he got a call from the neighbors saying that somebody tried to break into the store. We went all out it was pitch dark and the police did a search but nobody was out. Nothing else happend after that. I think I will be getting my dad security cameras for Christmas........sigh.......

Dumb question of the day.  Do you take the stringy net thingy off a roast before you cook it?  Or after?

After Big Smile  (then I like to chew off the meat num num num)

    • Gold Top Dog

Good to know!  Especially since its already in the slowcooker...Stick out tongue

The string will help hold the meat together, which will also help keep the moisture in the meat. Wait until after to cut off the string.

I had a blonde moment, today. At Petco, I was getting some more of the little treats you can get at the treat bar. I also did my secret santa shopping. And I got another box of Frontline Plus.

Anyway, just a bit ago, I noticed the bag of treats was missing. They were probably left on the scale at the store. The clerk is an older guy with an irritating voice and personality. I try to ignore him and get through the line as quick as possible. And forgot the treats. That's okay, I have some deli meat and a Wolf King sample to suffice. I get home, and we've still got two treatments of Frontline Plus left.

Oh well, I am preparing to cook some spare ribs, red potatos, and carrots in a roasting bag and it will be wonderful.

Mmmm pork roast is good!  I'd rather have spare ribs Ron, but you didn't mention it till too late.  Hmmm pork, two nights in a row?  Oven's broken though, I wonder if I can do the rack in the toaster oven...

The recipe for tonight's meal was a bag of mini peeled carrots, a bag or small red potatos. Chopped the potatos a little and put the veggies in the bag (dusted with non-bleached flour). Quarter of large onion, chopped large. Garlic, diced. Water, a little worcestershire sauce. I made a homemade rub. Brown sugar, ground ginger, smoked paprika. 1.5 hours at 325 F. At this exact point in time at 8.05 pm CST, 20 more minutes. DW is on her way home and we're on the cellphone right now. How's that for multi-tasking?

And I am once again most active user. What do I win?

Soooo - I went to this dinner last night. A H.O.G. event(Harley Owners Group - my parents are members, and it's very family oriented). It was wounderful. I saw this guy I've kind of been eye-ing for about a year. He's 6 months younger then me - which is weird for me. He's soooooooo cute. A city boy. He has a GSD - a major plus, he likes dogs. And kitties too. Eeeep! He's a major cutie....and we hung out from about 6 o'clock til almost midnight. It's great, but it also sucks. I'm coming out of an emotionaly bad realationship, but I knew the end was coming(to the realationship) so I had prepared myself for that. So, it's great in that aspect. But, it sucks in the fact that I see this guy 3 times a year, we go to different school, and I won't see him again until New Years - maybe, and then in May. And then Dec. of next year. Sad. Very sad. We live literally 20 miles away - not far, we're in the same city limits, it just bites. Any advice?

Get a motorcycle, join the HOG. Drive on over. Certainly there are modes of transportation between the two places. The young man should put his noggin to use. Does he have a motorcycle? If so, he could ride over to visit you.

Ummm - I'm 16 with no car/bike and he's 15 in the same situation. Thou - your post made me laugh seeing as that is the most obvious choice! I love it! Hehe! I want a motorcycle anyway - but NC law says 18. *sigh* I am so pathetic....LOL
