How many of you?

I never bring mine if they are going to just spend time sitting in the car. Why would that be fun for them? They only come on dog-oriented trips.

Depending on where we are going 1 or both come with me.  In the evening we go to the dog park and I will often make a stop on the way home for something.  If DH is with us he goes into the store and I open the Outback hatch and sit in the back with them.  Monroe doesn't really like car rides, he just likes the destination so if I'm making a quick run somewhere Morrison comes with me.

Thankfully, I live in a very dog friendly part of the country and I've taken him into some very strange places.  I also love to drive and sometime Morrison and I just go out for a ride.

No, he doesn't go everywhere. Unless he can come inside the store - he stays home. Casey doesn't really live for car rides....

He does go to work with me when I have to go in for a short time. We go to different parks, including the dog park. When I have to get dog food - he usually comes with me, just for the socialization.

I have brought fosters along for just a ride, when they can't come in - but never when it's hot out (which isn't often). Or I'll bring one along with me to pick someone up, but only if they enjoy going in the car.

Max gets in the pretty much just to go to the vet and the dog park.  I don't see any reason to take him if he just has to wait in the car for me to finish grocery shopping. I figure he's happier at home with his toys, sofa, bed, yard, etc. since he has much more freedom of movement at home than he does in the car.

- Too hot in Florida *most* of the time

- Not fun for them waiting for me to return

- Someone could easily steal them - not worth the risk

- They're much more comfortable at home

That said, they love going for car rides and love going to the groomer, dog park, rides to nowhere. Sunday morning's ritual is to take a walk (when it's cool, like now), ride up and get a newspaper and then go get gas.

I can't stand it when I hear people say, "I take my dog *everywhere* with me." Especially here in Florida, because I know that 99.9% of the stores here do not allow animals inside (unless they are a certified service animal), so the chances are that the dog is being left in a hot car while their selfish owner gets their nails done or shops at Target. UGH! It's just not feasible to take your dog "everywhere."

I was at the Dr. office and a woman had her little Yorkie in her bag and I just thought it was not the place for a dog. I could not believe the Dr. office allowed her to stay with the dog. I'm pretty sure there are health dept laws that prohibit that for so many reasons.

 If I'm going to specific stores then yeah Maze comes with me if she's allowed in. Like my bookstore, pet stores or the local dollar stores. But if I'm going shopping or going anywhere where she would have to be tied, she stays home. Since I don't have a car, I don't worry about leaving her in the car but in the middle of summer, since she's black, she stays home.

My new pup will be going everywhere possible with me for the first bit since I'm gonna be socializing her but as she gets older, she'll be home more when I'm not training/trialing her or going for walks with both dogs.

I can't take Ari everywhere unfortunately.  She has behavioral problems to the point I'm not comfortable taking her places like family gatherings and the like - she would simply need to be kenneled the whole time.  I have taken her in the past to work, but lately she has decided that yowling, whining and barking in her kennel is the coolest thing.  I cannot have that in the office - though my boss doesn't seem to care he was telling me I need to bring her in again!

I will bring her in errands if the weather is OK to leave her in the car for short periods of time (so that means spring, fall and winter only).  Dogs are not welcomed in doors anywhere around here unless it is a pet store but I will bring her in there with me. 

When she's older and fully developed she'll be able to come hiking with us and for longer periods out of doors.  And hopefully by then we'll have resolved her behavior issues so we can feel comfortable taking her to more places.
