How many of you?

    How many of you?

Take your dogs everywhere you go? Do they get out when you get to where your going or sit in the car? What do you do in the summer when it's really hot?

Since I started going to conformation class Lillie has really started enjoying going in the car. Before I started classes I would have to pick her up and put her in the car. Now all I have to do is open up the back to the Explorer and in she jumps even if we're not going anywhere. I have been taking Joker with me almost everywhere I go. He's crated so half the time he stays in the car and half the time he gets out. I have been taking Lillie every where also because she needs the exposure and she just enjoys it so much!!

Cheyanne goes with me only when she needs to go to the vet and when Im going to get fast food to take home. All she wants to do is ride in the car. She could care less about getting out.

Kujo goes EVERYWHERE Samantha goes. Samantha wont have it any other way and Kujo likes car rides.

Ok all my dogs like riding in the car!!! I think I need a van so they can all go with me all the time.Lol.

I try to take them absolutely as much as possible.  Now in Florida I'm VERY limited because of the heat.  Just about now it cools off enough so if I take them to get groceries I can leave the sunroof and back windows down most of the way (PT Cruiser) and safely leave them.

It takes some training but I think it's very good for them.

In the summer I take them absolutely as much as possible but of course can't leave them AT ALL ... not ever.  But they still learn to ride and man, they love it.

I have oval foam beds for them in the back of the cruiser.  I have a major problem with crating dogs in a car and I know I'm unusual in that but we have our arrangement and it works for us.  I'm really anal about them being still in the car -- no jumping up/down/back/forth -- you nail your butt to the floor and STAY there.

But we take them a lot -- in November we'll go for the whole weekend over to Tampa over Thanksgiving.  Stay in a motel for 2 nights, they'll go to the pet kennels at Busch and later at Bok Tower Gardens and they'll have a blast.  Going "beddy times away" is only slightly better than going in the car for the afternoon or to Give Kids the World or ... SOMEPLACE wif Mom 'n Dad!!

Nope, I don't take him everywhere but he's in the car at least once a day if not more because he comes to work with me. If I need to swing by and pick up something at the store he can wait in the car (windows half way down with sunroof open) because it's the fall.  If we're going somewhere dog friendly he'll come with me, if not he'll just lay down and wait. I only take him in the summer if we're going to the park or my parents or somewhere he needs to go, and I never ever leave him in the car in the summer.

I wish! I currently am minus a car(my truck). And when we go places we stay gone for hours. Thou when I get my truck back Sam is going with me everywhere, so long as I won't have to leave him for more then about 20 mins unatended.../

I only crate Joker because he hasnt learned how to sit still in the car yet.Ok he thinks he's a lap dog!!  Im gonna get one of those gate things they make for cars and put it up in the back. Because well the size crate he's gonna need when he's full grown isnt gonna fit in the car with a car seat!!

Lillie knows to stay in the back. Cheyanne sits up front with me in the passenger floorboard. Kujo sits with Samantha in her car seat.

I don't (can't) take mine everywhere, but lately most of my social life and activites revolve around dogs anyway so there are trips to the pet store, various training clubs, going to fields and parks for play, weekend trips to shows, trials, or dog show photography assignments.... Now with Nikon, everyone wants to see him so I've been getting away with taking him to my grandpa's apartment and my parents' house.  Today my dad cooked roast and Nikon came along.

When it's hot I don't leave my dogs in the car at all unless it's some errand where I can literally see the dog the entire time.  Even if I have to run to the pharmacy, I won't take the dogs b/c *I* know it only takes 2 minutes but some other good person will see the dogs in the car and wonder how long I've been shopping.  I've heard of people taking 2 sets of car keys and leaving the AC on with the dogs locked inside but our POS car has an electrical glitch so you cannot lock the doors when the car is turned on and I'd never leave my dogs in an unlocked car.

Our city is not really dog friendly either.  I've heard of people taking dogs to restaurants with outdoor patios and honestly I've never seen such a thing here.  The only dog friendly places are dog parks, pet stores, and Tractor Supply Co.

Tootsie goes everywhere with me, even if its just to the gas station. In the summer she goes if she can get out ie... parents.

Summer time I dont take the dogs unless they can get out.

When it's nice weather I have been taking Lillie everywhere except when I go grocery shopping. I need the back then!!

Brooke goes with me every morning and every afternoon to take my son to and from school - and other rides if I am not going to get out of the car much, she love, love, loves the car!!!  Hailie almost never goes in the car unless she has to - she doesn't like it as much.  River only goes when he has to be somewhere - training classes, Vet, groomer or hiking.

I NEVER leave my dogs in the car without me except if I am going to run into the deli for a loaf of bread or something and if its summer I lock them in with the car running.

Assuming she's feeling well, Willow comes pretty much everywhere unless it's too hot or I'll be much too long.

I can take my dogs pretty much everywhere with me.

I do leave them home and vary our routine simply to keep them used to being left behind from time to time.

Our guys go with us a lot.

During the week, Brinxx, Schatzi, & Shooter go to day care on the days that we are at work.  Chyna goes with DH to work, & sleeps in his office during the week.  Bev usually comes to the office with me daily.

I don't work on Wednesdays, so the dogs usually run errands with me.  Most places that I go are dog friendly, so it's not a big deal that they come along.

On weekends, at least one day is dedicated to the dogs.  Saturdays usually involve all of us going to Starbucks.  Then, herding for 3 of our guys, & DH.  While the other 2 dogs, & I go to the farmers market to get groceries for the week.  We usually meet up for a hike, dog park trip, or lunch at one of our favorite restaurant's patio.

The only time that we don't have the dogs with us is on "date night" & when the weather is too hot for them to stay in the vehicle if need be.

I wish I could take Gingerbread mores places, but I won't leave him in the car and most places don't allow dogs... So when I go out to dinner, to my husband's band's shows, grocery store, church group, movies, etc. he stays at home.

Prior to Lil' Bruder joining the family, I would take both Buddy and Heidi when running errands like the bank or the pharmacy, feed store, etc.  Sometimes together, sometimes single.  I don't like taking two into a dog friendly place, so when its a singles trip, one will go into that place with me.  If both, they wait in the car.  When I return, inevitably, Heidi is sitting in the drivers seat, looking all pretty and in control.  Always cracks me up.

Buddy doesn't really like riding in the car...he gets a bit car sick.  But, he doesn't like missing out on anything either.

Now that Bruder is here...I'll typically take both the young houligans on errands and leave Buddy in the house with DH or Mom to keep him company.  And, usually with a frozen kong...he couldn't be happier.

Bruder and Heidi LOVE the car rides; and its good for them...stimulates the mind taking in all the new sights.

I NEVER leave my dogs in the car without me except if I am going to run into the deli for a loaf of bread or something and if its summer I lock them in with the car running.

I used to do this also because my vehicle has a keypad entry and I could leave the engine running and the a/c on for the dogs.  But I heard of two instances where vehicles were broken into and stolen (one of the cases the man went in to pay for gas and was only gone for 2 minutes) and the dogs left in the cars were later found dead due to heat stroke in the abandoned vehicles.  This has also happened to K9 dogs left in police vehicles. It also happens to children who are left in cars that get carjacked.

Here in Texas dogs die every day during the summer when they are left for "only a few minutes".  I have called the police myself and have also been known to go into a restaraunt or whatever to find the owner of a dog in distress inside a broiling hot car.  Heck, in Texas and elsewhere children die every summer for the same stupid reasons.  Not worth the risk for dog or child.
