GypsyNBeau Speaking of calming signals, 3girls -- licking is supposed to be another calming signal. So I think Astra is responding, just in her own way.
That makes sense. She really has her own way about her.

Hmm maybe I should have tried this when she was a bit more on the tired side :-p Ari thought it meant to get really excited and attack me with kisses, then run around the kitchen table and find a toy to squeak.

I remember a story coming out last year about a study that found why yawning is contagious. I never thought to link it to dogs! It only sometimes works with Mosby but I swear I yawned almost every time reading that word in this thread lol

This was my little trick with Morrison during a long down or sit stay. I would get "bored" and yawn when he was starting to show interest in something - he would see the yawn, yawn himself and settle down to wait. It got to the point where I could do a very small, unnoticeable yawn.

I didn't get one out of my hound, but I did get Sioux and Sequoyah. Of course, Sequoyah also licks her chops when I lick mine.

I'll have to try later, Teddi was playing and I had him look at me when I did it, but he just thought I was playing with him and got into a play bow with a bark, twice. Maggie, just stared at me.
