How much does Your purse weigh?

I carry as little as possible, but it's a LOT (3-4 pounds?) and when we go "somewhere" David carries it for me and it has "our" stuff in it.  He's awesome about helping me.

Keys, my little case of homeopathic 'first aid' kit, my own personal stuff (eye drops, benedryl, etc. inhaler, etc.), wallet, ckbook, current book, a couple of pairs of glasses, dog stuff (puppy toy, dog first aid stuff), work keys, sometimes water, you know ... life sustenance stuff.  Especially the BOOK!

HAH! You ain't kidding there Callie!  I'm contemplating going back to my original bag (more rugged looking so i don't feel the need to call it a 'purse';) because I could put a book in it.  DH's cousin convinced me to come help him on a 12 hour race.  What he neglected to tell me was that for about 10 of the 12 hours we would be doing NOTHING.  I was so bored I wanted to cry (imagine HOT day in the boonies of West Virginia, stuck just watching cars go by, again and again and again and again....)  Had I had a bag w/ a book in it....life would have been good :o)

Well, the women in my family carry what we call "Motherships."

Oh my gosh, I snorted lemonade out of my nose ~L~

I have a *very* nice purse, if I do say so myself. BF picked it as a graduation gift two summers ago. It's Prada :) and pink and leather and I loooooooove it. It is the one thing in this whole wide world I am materialistic about!

However, it's not very practical for dog-walking, so I usually take my work backpack (client cards, emergency phone list, leashes, treats, makeshift muzzle, water bowl, bottle of water, first-aid kit with benedryl and peroxide, and about 1000 poop bags) wallet, keys, and cell phone. When I'm not working I put my wallet, keys, and cell phone back in my purse, which also has hand lotion, Burt's Bees, pantyliner, tampon, two poop bags, tissues, hairbrush, ponytail holder, change purse, lip gloss, pens, Germ-X, eyedrops, and other miscellaneous junk. I don't even bother weighing it.

I don't bring a purse in to work because I don't have a place in my classroom to lock it. So I carry a hardholder that I can also keep some cash in. I keep that in my pocket, along with my cell phone, and depending on the pants, sometimes my keys. I got so used to not having a purse, that I leave makeup in strategically-located places and a pouch with a few other things like perfume in my car. So I really like this whole no-purse thing.

I have two different purses that I use for different situations.

Purse #1 is a large Coach purse.  It goes with me to work, and on business meetings.  It weighs around 4 pounds.  I have wallet, cell phone, keys to my vehicle, DH's vehicle, and both houses, three different checkbooks, my make up bag (yes, the entire thing) an extra pair of panty hose, a toothbrush & toothpaste, a bottle of perfume, chapstick, sunblock, hair ties, hairbrush, feminine products, ipod, whatever book I am reading at the time, 18 flash drives, usually 2-3 cd's, a spare leash, tennis ball, & a bag of treats.

Purse #2 is a very small bag from Target.  I LOVE it.  It is used anytime I am not dealing with work.  It weighs less than half a pound.  It carries my wallet, cell phone, & keys.  Away from work, I really don't need all of the "stuff."

On the average my bag will weigh in about 8-10 pounds.  I will have my day runner, whatever I am trying to read at the moment,  a small make up bag with medicine in it.  Two wallets, one with id and important medical  and debit cards, the other with my store cards.  My car adapter for my lap top, Some moisturizer, lipstick and lip gloss, a couple of Polly Pocket dolls, a handful of Dog treats, Baby wipes, my passport, a bundle of photos, a password book ( contains all of my passwords and user names plus the dog's info so I can enter shows online) , my journal, a bundle of school papers to remind me of what is coming up and what I need to get. A glass cleaning kit,  hair brush, tooth brush , small cologne,  My camera is in my purse more often than not, a collar and lead,  Medical tape and scissors. A couple of scrunchiesm a small bundle of bobby pens, a few hair clippies...   A Make up kit that is actually filled with meds for me and a smaller one that has some meds for my dogs, a box of band aides, cyrstal light powder packets for bottled water,  gum, a couple of crayons, a sharpie or two, a note pad, at least a small handful of wrappers of one type or another...

And that is cutting BACK from what I used to carry when my bag was almost 22 pounds some days !! Having the 5 grand kids I always seem to have a bunch of stuff in my bag..... Then I can not remember the last time I did not have cookies or treats in my bag for a dog we may run into !!

My purse would be a lot lighter if I would remember to clean out the coins occasionally!
