How much does Your purse weigh?

OK, another thread got me thinking. I only carry a purse on very rare occasions - formal evenings when I may want to touch up my lipstick! LOL! So I will carry around this purse all evening with a tube of lipstick and maybe a tissue. Most women I know will never leave the house without their purse and most of them are huge and extremely heavy. So what do you guys carry around in those bags? How much does your purse weigh and what are the most used items and the least used items in there?

I carry my purse everywhere and would be lost without some of the stuff in it. I have a scale here at work, so I just weighed it and it's 3.6 lbs. I'd have guessed it would've been more.

I keep my cell phone, keys, sunglasses, wallet, small make-up bag, gum, small bottle of motrin and a few pens in it.

Oh Dear!!  I don't have a scale, but can I just say "heavy?" Big Smile I do NOT carry a purse when I'm walking the dog, but I don't go anyplace else without it. It has:  my wallet and two checkbooks (two different banks) a cosmetic bag that has mainly lip gloss, a nail file and a tweezers in it, a change purse for cards that I'm not likely to use on a regular basis, like my Kaiser card etc., a couple of pens and a small notebook, a pull out tape measure (I know what size all my spaces are so I need to measure anything I'm getting to put in one), my cell phone (usually in need of charging), my eyeglass case (if I'm wearing the sun glasses, the regular ones are in my purse), a small plastic zip lock baggie of cough drops, a roll of mints, a small kleenex package, a comb, grocery store coupons and two-fer restaurant deals, a small pack of safety pins and a roll of scotch  tape (ya just never know) a snap on hook for my keys and a small purse light to help me find stuff in the dark.  That is all.

well i have several set ups. the quick dinner or groceries set up is my wallet (which is huge and i can put my keys in it) and my cell phone.

the girls' night out set up is my tiny purse (smaller than my wallet! lol). in it i have some money, cell phone, keys, powder and lip gloss or lipstick. this one is great cause i carry it while dacing and it doesnt bug me...

now my BIG purse... wow, i guess it usually weighs about a pound... in it i have EVERYTHING! it means if i need to leave the house for work or anything else where i dont know how long i'll be out, i have most things that i might (or might not...) need without having to prepare it beforehand. stuff that's always in it: wallet, keys, cell phone, swipe card for work, 2 laundry clips (for my pants - i ride my bike to work, but i wear nice pants), poop bags, aspirin, thylenol, tampons, cough drops, gum, a pen, band-aids, a smaller bag (containing, vacc. record of the dogs, passbooks of 2 savings accounts and my passport), and a whole lotta junk. the best thing about it is, it STILL fits a whole lot more if necessary, like my umbrella, books, etc... yeah, it's a crazy purse but i always have my stuff! lol...

Not a lot, I downsized - shoulder problems.  I carry a wallet w/checkbook, coin purse, comb, two tubes Blistex (I hate dry lips), spare house key, a pen, some mints, emery board, a couple of pantiliners (bigger stuff if it's that week), and if it's runny-nose season, a pocket pack of tissues.

No more than a few lbs if that. I carry a VERY small purse...shoulder bag with a short handle so it's carried up sorta under my armpit even with my boob. The only other style of purse I've carried is a backpack one.

My rule is "always small...if you cannot fit it in there you don't actually NEED it". Most used is my billfold...least is my checkbook.

    I have three main bags

Bag #1 - Small everyday purse, weighs about 2 oz. includes wallet, keys, and cell phone

Bag #2 - Briefcase - includes laptop, flash drive, misc. paperwork, bottle of water, candy, pens, and either flip flops or heels (I have a long walk to building in morning so I change shoes), probably weighs about 4 lbs when fully

Bag #3 - Diaper bag (the reason why I don't keep much in Bag #1) - includes, two complete changes of clothes for Riley (including socks and shoes), her swim suit, a swim suit for me (you just never know), 4 regular diapers, 4 swim diapers (we have friends with pools), two spoons, a changing table cover for public restrooms, coupons, #60+ sunscreen for Riley, #4 sunscreen for DH's head, $10 bill, 3 sippy cups, 2 bibs, Cheerios, Goldfish, poop bags, zip top bags, and a bottle of water

I forgot to mention that when DH and I go somewhere together, I get the pleasure of adding in his car keys, sunglasses and sometimes his wallet. That's when it really starts to feel like a suitcase Huh?

Well, the women in my family carry what we call "Motherships."

My mothership carries my wallet, cell phone, mini-hair brush, tic tacs, gum, pens, lip glosses, usually some random dog training equipment (a canny collar currently), poop bags, training treat pouch, clickers, my mini-notebook, tissues, gum, shout wipes, Tide to go stick, and other random stuff. Typically, it's because when I leave the house I am going 40 places and need to bring all sorts of stuff. I use my purse like a Tote bag.

If I just need to make a quick trip into a store, I take "The Pod" which just carries my wallet and phone. The pod lives in the mothership.

My car is similarly stuffed. My glove box holds tons of poop bags,  baby wipes, several kinds of dog treats, an extra leash and an "emergency bully stick." Not sure what I think that emergency bully stick will be handy for, but we'll see.

I swear I could live for two weeks on just what's in my bag alone !!!  I got tired of carrying around all these little "specialized" bags and just got one huge bag that I carry everything in.  Lunch, books, checkbooks, credit cards, various blackberries and other electronic devices, small make up bag, toothbrush and toothpast, various snacks (like cereal bars), camera, my pedicure stuff I need if I decide to stop and get one, assorted work papers, pads, pencils, etc. ,  . . . . . . . it just goes on and on and on.  My bag must weigh 25 lbs. !!!

Ugh....I hate carrying a purse.  I don't even like the name.  But since I haven't figure out a better way to carry stuff....

I have my wallet, my blood sugar test kit, 1 checkbook wallet w/ 2 check books in it, coin purse w/ the following in it: chapstick, small tube of lotion, advil, case with insurance and apoinment cards in it; swipe card for work, cell phone, keys, change purse, mp3 player and cord, gum, pad, pen, carbohydrate guide book.

Now granted some of the stuff could be left behind, but some of it I need to keep w/ me.  I do avoid carrying it whenever possible.

Ugh....I hate carrying a purse.  I don't even like the name.

Haha, I used to be the same way. I refused for years to carry one. And every Christmas and birthday SOMEONE would insist on giving me a purse..lol. Then I finally gave in, and I don't have an issue anymore.

You guys are too funny though with all your stuff... My sister and my Mom both carry big purses (in fact, my Mom's current purse is the same style as my sister's old one.. I think they came from Avon) with everything but the kitchen sink in them, and my sister's always harassing me about how small my purse is. It's really not. It holds my keys (which is a decent sized set..I have a little keychain obsession), my wallet, my cell phone, and a couple little random things (i.e. a tampon or two, chapstick, concealer, a pen or two, occasionally my foundation/powder stuff & mascara..but I don't wear make up terribly often, so not always), with a little room to spare. I can fit 3 or 4 of my roll-up reusable bags in there, or a kid snack or two if I have a kid with me, treats for Cherokee if she's with me, etc. Plenty big for me. Though I do need a new one, cause mine's probably 3ish years old..and that's 3ish years of being carried every day. It's looking a little rough. But all I ever see at the store is either teeny tiny ones, or humongous duffle-like bags, lol.

I have many purses- I am obsessed with Coach! Thats usually all I ask for for my birthday and Christmas (anything from Coach). Lately I've only been carrying a wristlet around, it holds all my cards, money, gum, and chapstick. I clip my keys on it when I need to. Any my sunglasses are always kept on top of my head when they're not on my eyes.

Mine is actually not heavy at all. I carry my wallet, cell phone, keys, chapstick, lipgloss, compact, a pen, mints/gum, and extra bobbypins and things to pull my hair up. Most used items are chapstick and gum. Least used would be the hair things to pull my hair up.

Most of the time I leave the house with just my phone and wallet and don't even bother to take a purse with me.

I have a little purse. It has my wallet in it, extra keys, extra underwear for Samantha, tampons, and gum in it. I hardly ever carry it. Usually it's stuffed under a seat in the car. My wallet never has any money in it, just used mainly for picture storage.
