    I prefer the more rustic look myself.  It is not in my neighborhood but I'd be willing to move.  You do seem to get a lot more bang for your buck in upstate NY, if you don't mind braving those cold winters.

    OK, am I the only one here who would rather live where I am now than in ANY of these dream homes? They are all gorgeeeeouss, but I would rather have my family around me in a relatively cozy home than spread all out over 6000 sq ft! I am perfectly happy in what i have now.  I looove my house...all 2000 sq ft of 1902 home (warts and all!).

    No, you're not alone. I truly couldn't imagine having a home that large and I can't imagine keeping it clean. I'm guessing that if you could afford a house that large, you'd have a housekeeper. Our house is 1950 sf, and it's plenty for the 2 of us. Sometimes I wish the family room was larger or I had a room that I could turn in to an exercise room, but I'm pretty happy with what I've got. I will probably always wish we had more land though.
