Oh absolutely...esp when I was into a larger breed. It makes more sense in a large or coated breed where age can make a huge difference. Akitas for ex a puppy that looks like a grown dog at 8mos...what on Earth will it look like at 2? Overdone? broken down? Or the same? All 3 are possible and all 3 I've seen happen in that breed.
Thing is...it's vry line specific or breeder specific and why should you punish a breeder who has great looking pups that are also great looking adults and even great looking veterans...because of a person who rushes to finish thier flash in the pan pup that will look ancient at 3 y/o and they know it?
Judges...the famous saying is "you judge on the day"...in the open non age divided classes...I don't even think the judge is supposed to ASK how old the dog is...so barring specifically discriminating against puppies....which some do...what are thir options? Not rewarding the best dog of it's sex in the ring on that day....because of it's age seems wrong to me...
Windy is a nice puppy...I dunno about great lol, thanks anyways tho
