i have seen a single coyote tear the throat out of a big horn sheep.... surprise attack yes, but it worked. that lone coyote had dinner all to himself.
We have them out here but they pretty much keep themselves to themselves. we have a lot of hunters out here, and the good ole boy philosophy is "the only good coyote is a dead coyote". I'm not at all worried about the bullies getting into trouble with them.. maybe if there were several yotes.. or the bigger mountain strains of coyotes.. but most are solitary beings as a rule. they might pack up during hard times mating seasons, or travel in a family group for a short while.. but for the most part its usually no more than one or two.
Doesnt mean they cant change those tactics. they will partner up with badgers in order to catch burrowing animals.. they're resourceful and smarter than all get out. i wouldnt under estimate one, not for a second.
