We did our typical "beddytimes away". My family is 2000 miles away and of course David is Scottish so Thanksgiving just doesn't make sense to him. (10 years and it's still just nonsense to him)
I learned several years ago that if we stay home David will wind up AT WORK. So we always take off -- either for the beach, or for a day at a theme park with an overnight built in. The last couple of years we've gone to Busch Gardens.
They have a great pet kennel (air-conditioned and really nice HUGE kennels) so we get ONE big one and all 3 have ample room. By the time both Davey and I get out of work on Wednesday, get home & packed and leave usually it's like 10:30 before we leave Altamonte. This year it was a bit later than usual -- and we didn't check into the motel til like 1:30 a.m.
But then we watch the parade in the morning and schlep on over to the Park -- the big restaurant is really pretty nice and serves a more than decent turkey dinner for $13.95 (including dessert) and we get to sit and watch all the zebra, giraffes, antelope, etc during the meal.
Busch also has a lorikeet aviary where you can buy nectar and feed the birds -- so passing a few hours is NOT a problem for me *grin*
Picked up the pups at the on-site kennel -- oh myyyyyyyyy they SO love being fawned over by people!! LOL
last evening was just pretty much chill out and cuddle. We slept in this morning and checked out by 11 and headed home.
Not 'typical' but fun for us. And the BEST part was we were all together!! My family is small but being together is the best.
