My dog does not like me to...

to pet dogs he doesn't know. He will always get between me and the other dog and give the other dog a bit of a warning growl. It doesn't matter if he's off leash, on a walk or at the park. After he knows them, he's fine with the "free love".

...but Stevie HATED anyone to dance. Boy oh boy, one person dancing was bad enough, but TWO people dancing TOGETHER, well! In his opinion it HAD TO STOP RIGHT NOW! And WHAM! He'd jump up, push the two people apart, and bark and make it VERY clear that dancing was NOT ALLOWED!

Even if I danced alone he'd get alllll bent out of shape and try to make me stop. He'd grab my ankles and just hold, trying to make my feet still. If that didn't work he'd bounce at me.

You're like the second or third person besides myself that has observed this...what is up with that?!  I'm thinking they think something is drastically wrong with us when we behave this way.  Willow, our female Golden, loves to dance and will come up for us to hold her paws or sides and dance with us.  Funny quirks, huh?

Conrad is not a happy camper about having his nails clipped. DH and I have to sort of conspire for one of us to distract him and the other to dart in and clip a nail as fast as possible.

Marlowe, once he's switched himself to "off" (happens about 8 PM every night), does not like to be woken. You can move him all around, shove him, rest your drink on him, none of that is a problem. Just don't ask him to actually do anything.

Neither dog is that thrilled about their morning walks. Once they get out there they suck it up, but they both try to act invisible in the mornings to try to avoid it. Marlowe usually sleeps on the futon at night, which is covered by a black throw to keep the dog hair off of it. Marlowe, being black himself, tries his very hardest to blend in to it when I come stumbling downstairs in the morning: "If I don't move, she won't see me."

Marlowe also hates it when you make him wait for his meals. If we're just hanging around in the kitchen or dining room wasting time, around a mealtime, Marlowe makes it very clearly known that it is TIME and stop SCREWING AROUND! There is serious business to attend to!

This has nothing to do with me, but Conrad hates inclement weather. He will hold his pee until his eyeballs are floating if the alternative is to go out in the rain and potty. If you make him go, be prepared for some very dirty looks.

My dogs love it when I dance. It started off when Molly was little and I taught her to stand on her hind legs and spin and called it dancing. Ani and Skidget also learned this. Panama was never interested in spinning but he jumps as high as he can, continually when we're dancing. Ginger spins in circles on the floor. (And of course, everyone gets treats.)

It's gotten to the point that if I snap my fingers and bend one knee toward dancing they are all at it. With all the dogs I have now it's gotten a little crazy so I'm going to have to teach the rest of them what to do when we dance. Brighid will jump through a tambourine but she hasn't learned yet to do it in the middle of the dancing paque.

I LOVE how you write. There has got to be a publishable hound dog stories book in there somewhere!

Spip does not like when my husband goes running. She goes to the window, moans and paces until he is out of sight. No fair, why not take me, I can do it, I would love it, I would be good, I would not stop at each intersection and make you fall flat on your face. I would not stop you right in your tracks because I absolutely must mark my tenth patch of grass. Yeah, right !

Flem does not like when we go out at night (a very rare occurence, that's probably why). We can leave at any other time and there is not a peep but once the night has fallen, everybody needs to be accounted for.
