With that many, you must be in competitive mushing or at least actively involved in it. Being from Canada, that would make sense. I don't suppose you've ever checked out Sled Dog Central, have you?
Anyway, we have one dog and one cat. Jade is the cat, pure white, jade green eyes (hence, the name, thanks to some people here), about 9 months.
Shadow is the dog, 3 years and 4 months. Mix of Siberian Husky and Lab. 4 colors, most of them dark, though his whole look changes in winter as he grows a white undercoat. He was re-homed to us from an extremely dysfunctional family. We haven't had a chance to truly mush or even cart, but we do walk and I let him pull. With 28 dogs, you must be able to either handle them full time or bring in some help. Or are you just breeding and then the population dwindles as they are sold?
Something I learned along the way was the different lines of Alaskan Huskies that started with, for example the Huslia and the Aurora. Which lines do you have or are going by the lineage of winning parents? I've heard of some breeders mixing wolf in. It's about the only breeding I know of with intentional out-breeding for performance.
